"Just Barely" Pregnant PS''ers

Re:

Sha -- I'm so so sorry to hear this. I pray for strength for you and your DH. Give your little bub an extra big kiss. Hope to see you soon in better spirits. :((

yenny -- I was a surprise! Number 4 when my mom was 39. They were shocked, but I really kept them young if that makes sense. I hope you feel at peace with whatever decision you make soon!

Re:

Thanks Lanie. I just want to be clear that, for me, there's no decision to be made. If this is what God has in store for us, then we will embrace it. I'm just nervous about DHs reaction, as well as my previous history of m/c.

Re:

Sha, I am so sorry to hear your bad news. Unfortunately, I know far too well about the disappointment and grief you must be feeling right now. I know you will be pregnant again real soon and your little precious will be worth the wait. If you want to talk more and aren't comfortable to do so here, I started a miscarriage support thread awhile back, here is the link. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/miscarriage-support-q-a.156177/ We're all here to support you even if it is from behind our computers. Hugs to you sister....

Re:

Sha, My heart goes out to you my friend. I'm so sorry to hear. Take all the time you need for yourself and give your beautiful daughter a big hug. Hugs and thoughts to you and your DH.

Yenny, Wow! what a surprise! If it were me, I'd tell my DH sooner rather than later. That way you both can face whatever outcome together. Granted it's probably taking time to sink in, but I'd want my DH there freaking out right next to me. We're really good at doing that together :)

PhG, I'm so glad you're doing better. You're sounding better and I'd definitely bring it up to your doc. I wouldn't be surprised if this is all part of the hormones etc too, but it's important to have an outlet someone to talk to. Sounds like you have a fantastic support system between your DH, your sis and your friend. You are one lucky lady ::)

Just walked for about an hour in 99F heat carrying 7lbs of vegetables. :knockout: Needless to say I'm *exhausted*. I do a CSA and DH drove our car today so I had to walk there to pick it up. I also walked the dog too. She was tired but now she's looking so chipper and I'm definitely not!

Re:

Oh, Sha. I am so very heartbroken for you. I'll be thinking about you and wishing you and your family peace. <3

And yenny, wow! Congratulations!! That's a big pill to swallow, but I know you all will be thrilled with the new addition! My friend Dave was 15 when he came home from school one day and his equally stunned parents told him they were expecting #2!! And then two years later they had another oops so now they have two teens and Dave is 31!! You'll work it out... best of luck with relaying the news to your DH. We're here for ya!

Re:

yenny -- sorry, I went back and reread your post more carefully. I am prolife as well, so hope I didn't offend you. Keep us updated!!!

Re:

I'm at work at the moment and will post more later when I get home, but I just wanted to quickly say - Sha, I am so sorry. Spend some time with your husband and little one and give yourself time to heal. Thinking of you.

Re:

Back for a general update - still thinking of you though Sha! Hugs.

Yenny - welcome! I am not surprised that you are boggling at your news! Re what to tell your husband, I think that's an individual thing and of course completely dependent on the relationship that you have. I can't imagine not telling my husband IMMEDIATELY YESTERDAY but that is because I am a complete externaliser and I "share" everything, all the time. You'll find a way that's right for you - hope you are feeling a bit more settled in the next few days.

LC - if I carry this pregnancy through, that will be ME carrying my 7lb of "vegetables" (aka baby) plus [x]lbs of fluid and placenta, come the Australian summer, lol! I hope your tiredness lifts somewhat, soon. I think mine got a little bit better over the last week or so - still there, but not as disabling as before. I am amazed that you are doing your dogwalks and exercise still! Officery looks awesome.

PG, I'm so glad you are feeling better, especially psychologically! It must be such a relief to look at the road ahead and feel like it is do-able. It sounds like your body is also finding better physical ways to cope, eg. with being able to eat whilst feeling sick.

NEL, I'm sure your pants being tight is all about the bloat, and very little about "real" weight gain! I actually think my clothes are fitting better this last week than they were a few weeks ago... assuming everything is ok on the inside, I am sure it is that I am less bloated. Gunning for the 2nd trimester bloom for you and me both!!

Marlie - so tough not being able to tell people yet especially when feeling that gross! I giggled at your boobs having a "life of their own" - the physical changes are just so weird, hey?

Ally, kudos for you for even hauling yourself onto the elliptical!! I think that is an achievement in itself! (and I think that even without pregnancy in the equation, let alone with) Make sure you look after yourself with blood pressure drops and all that stuff.

AFM, the "worry-between-appointments" is creeping in a little. Since finding out I was pregnant, this is the longest gap I've had without any medical attention and it's a little scary, especially as in general I am feeling a little better than I have been previously. My NT scan is now in just under 2 weeks and I'll be off to have my blood tests on Monday in preparation. The posterior pelvic pain is improving - I had a lot of muscle spasm over the weekend after the physio had worked so hard on the joint but now it is really much better and I've been able to do all my exercises without pain. Have another couple of weeks of mobilisation, massage and exercises, then have a pilates assessment the week after next.

Am eating like a horse.

Re:

NEL: Pancake is right about bloat - I'm sure that is what it is. And then often it goes away in a few weeks and then you worry about that but since it's just bloat it's actually just going back to your real belly before the really preggo belly emerges. Glad you have the M/S under control - I think with nausea it's alot easier to "manage" even though it's not fun. I often felt like I was on a rocking boat, ick. It'll pass in a few weeks hopefully!

Re:

LC, carrying 7 lbs. of veggies in that midwest heat sounds like torture to me! I probably would have eaten half the veggies along the way in an effor to lighten the load on my arms. So your first appt. is only four days away now! Not that I'm counting or anything...

Pancake, is your NT scan the next appt. you have with the doc? I'm assuming that for the bloodwork you're just going to the lab and not really seeing the doc? I can definitely relate, my next appt. isn't for a couple of weeks and it feels really far away. I sort of wish I had weekly appts. right now because I worry every few days. I've been worrying more lately because I feel like my symptoms are getting a little better. They aren't gone, which makes me feel better, but it's just odd and I want to make sure everything is okay. I'm planning on getting a doppler and when I'm far enough along to hear the hb, I plan to use it often. I wonder if that's an option for you?

Pancake and Janine, I think you ladies are definitely right about bloat causing my tight pants. The reason I say that is because in the mornings, after I haven't eaten in at least 8 hours, my stomach deflates. Today I'm wearing a dress and it's much more comfy!

AFM, nothing new, but I have a super busy day at work and I have to run over to the client. It's supposed to be really hot here on the East Coast (not as bad as it's been in the midwest, but we're not used to all the heat and humidity, so it hits me hard!) and I really have no desire to run across town today! I hope the heat doesn't make me feel worse, I guess we'll see.

Re:

Sha - So sorry for your loss. (((HUGS))) to you.

Yenny - Congratulations on your little surprise!

PG - I am SO glad you are feeling better! Hope your doc can make some suggestions for you re: how to deal with the m/s and the sad feelings. What a supportive family you have. :)

Pancake - Yay for the improvement in the joint pain! I haven't been to the doctor yet and I am getting anxious about it, probably how you feel with your wait, too.

NEL and LC - stay cool! It's been unbearably hot here for about a week. Thank goodness for air conditioning.

AFM - My allergies/sinus issues are awful this week. Runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes... ugh. I read in one of my books that some preggo women have WORSE allergy symptoms while expecting, but I think my allergies are flaring up due to the high heat and humidity this week. I have been miserable and unable to breathe by nighttime all week. Hoping this ends soon! Experiencing some boob soreness, fatigue, and occasionally a lack of appetite. Anxious to go to my first appointment in a week and a half!

Re:

MQ, just popping in on my commute into the office. Try Neti Pot for your allergy/sinus before bed. That usually does the trick to clear the *gunk* out of my nose so I can breathe at night. I ***HATE** mouth breathing.

Pancake, Ooof I dunno about being preggo in the middle of the summer. That sounds super taxing. But I guess I'll be preggo in the middle of a Midwestern winter. Believe me, and I'm sure Katy can back me up here, Midwestern weather just plain ol' SUCKS!

NEL, drive or take a cab to your clients and stay in air conditioning! Ooof, this heat is killer! I'm glad you're more comfortable today, but I think the bloat will go down in a week or two for you. It has for me a bit, unless I eat a HUGE meal. :cheeky: Counting down for my first appt too. Thanks for thinking of me!

Oh and I bought my dog a little doggie back pack so she can carry vegetables home too. But she is NOT interested in carrying any vegetables. DH loves to tease me and the dog about the vegetable carrying scheme. It's pretty funny in a "You're such a useless dog, it's a good thing you're so cute" kinda way.

Yenny,
I am just a lurker on this thread but wanted to post to tell you that you need to see your dr. asap. You have a much higher risk of having an ectopic pregnancy if you become pregnant while on an IUD, which can cause serious health problems for you. In addition, you will want to have the IUD removed asap and the farther along that you are the riskier the removal can be. I know that you are shocked and taking this all in and I don't mean to alarm you, but you really do need to get in to see your dr. as soon as you can.

Re:

Thanks Nov. bride. I didn't realize that. I'll give my dr. a call this afternoon.

Re:

Pancake, glad the pain is improving. I know it's hard not to worry between appointments; we've all been there. It gets better once you can feel the baby move (except when you convince yourself you haven't felt movement in too long!). Basically I think being a parent means you always have worry in the back of your mind.

Mannequin, are you taking anything for your allergies? I didn't with my first pregnancy (they were miraculously not bad that year), but many things are safe to take. I did do the Neti Pot. I stopped taking my claritin this time around, not because I'm worried about it (it's Category B), but because I'm taking other medication for the m/s and would like to keep the medications to a minimum (and I'm not getting outside much, anyway). Plus the unisom and benadryl I am taking for nausea are antihistamines, so half of the day I have that dry, open feeling in my sinuses.

Not feeling as great today, but not down. Just queeeeeeasy. Haven't been able to eat as much as I'd like, which means I never get ahaed of it. Of course, the kicker is that yesterday when the m/s was better, I started worrying about the dreaded loss of symptoms. Can't win.

Re:

LC, so funny that your dog dislikes her pack. Ours love their packs and I used to have them carry their own water when we were on hikes, but then when they started getting tired I felt really bad and made my DH carry their water (because I was pretty tired and whiny myself by then, usually). So we have the opposite problem! Your pup has no interest in carrying any weight and my dogs love it, but it makes me feel bad, haha.

MQ, I'm so sorry to hear about your allergies, that sounds miserable. It sounds like others have had luck with the Neti Pot, which is good. What's interesting is that the drug my doc prescribed for my nausea is an allergy medication (it's called Promethazine), so one benefit of taking allergy meds is that it might help any nausea...

PhG, I think the "getting ahead of it" is so important. If I go for 3+ hours without eating and start to feel really sick, it seems like I can't recover for the rest of the day. If I force myself to eat (and drink) throughout the day, I have much better luck staying ahead of the nausea. I brought a ton of snacks with me today because I've been in meetings all day and didn't want to get stuck having no access to food (which is what happened to me yesterday), and today I feel better than I have in a long time. So now I'm freaking out and told my husband that if I felt this good again tomorrow, I might call the doc. I know that sounds neurotic, but the symptoms are really a double-edged sword.

Re:

NEL, you're right about getting ahead of it. I really have been trying; I just lose the battle about half way through the food I'm trying to eat. Lots of half eaten things lying around the house. Hope you continue to feel better - I'm sure it's just the eating!

My boobs really hurt. Which is so weird because I totally lost feeling in my nipples after nursing for a year. Like, my daughter would inadvertently grasp my nipple with her sharp little claws while climbing on me, and I'd be like, "That's weird. I can't feel that." But now they kind of sting from the inside. Ah, the indignities.

Re:

PhG, I'm sending you some good vibes for a better day tomorrow. Do you have any pets at home? If I had half eaten things lying around my dog would be *all over that*. Sorry about the sore/tender boobs. I can't run or jog anymore because my boobs don't like bouncing around.

NEL, Aw, your fur balls sound so useful and productive. I'd TOTALLY make DH carry their water too. "But look how TIRED they are! I can't make them carry it! It's so heavy! Poor doggies!" Never mind I'd be lining DH like a pack mule

Yenny, were you able to set your appt?

Did you ladies have any questions you asked on your first appt?

I'm so terrified to fly with my clotting disorder, but I'm doing everything I can with my injections and baby Aspirin!!

Hi Krissie, I am now 18 weeks so not really "Just Barely Pregnant" anymore, but I just saw this and was wondering what clotting disorder you have? I myself have one as well - Factor V Leiden and am doing injections also. I haven't come across anyone that is dealing with a clotting disorder / injections so it would be nice to have someone to relate to. I hope all is going well in your pregnancy!

Re:

Hi all...

Sha...still thinking of you. Hope you are doing ok.

PG...i'm so glad that you are feeling a bit better! i know that the lack of symptoms can mess with your head too...you just can't win! but since you've now got boob soreness, maybe that's a good sign that things are going well and you can enjoy some less nausea filled days. fingers are crossed that you stay feeling better.

NEL...hope you were able to stay cool yesterday. this weather on the east coast is brutal. glad you seem to have figured out a way to keep some of the nausea at bay by staying ahead of it.

LC...laughed at your dog and the vegetable carrier (or lack of carrying). so funny. that's so great that you are involved in a CSA. my good friend is and always gets the best stuff. baby lc is going to be so healthy! :)

MQ...sorry about your allergies. that must be awful. have you checked with your doc to see if there's anything you can take to give you some relief? your appointment is creeping up! you must be getting so excited!

pancake...loved your "eating like a horse" comment. too funny. i feel like we are in the same boat. i'm now in the wait for my 12 week appt too and started to get paranoid here and there. trying to relax and go with it but it's so hard! less than 2 more weeks until you get to see your little baby again though. hope it goes fast!

yenny...hope that you are working through everything and are finding answers to how you want to handle telling your husband and preparing for #3. i'm not personally a surprise but i know friends of mine who call themselves "oops babies" and their families couldn't be happier. i wish you and your family all the best. hope you are feeling well too.

afm...not much to report. symptoms are still the same. no us until 8/9. very very very glad it's friday. going to hang with dh's family upstate this weekend and relax and swim and read. should be fun. i feel a little less confident in my bathing suit these days b/c i think my belly looks a little puffier than normal (probably bloat) but oh well. could it be because i had about 16 slices of bread yesterday? perhaps.

wishing you all a happy, relaxing and feel good weekend.

Re:

OK, will read and catch up later, just wanted to say thanks for the support and update you on my u/s.

All is good, the heartbeat was visible (158). The technician found the baby right away; I kind of feel like with Claire that there were a few seconds of searching around before we got the reassuring news. So that was a great reassurance. My due date was revised to March 4 so I'm 7 weeks 5 days.

And the doctor confirmed that this isn't just m/s. I started to put it together that I was more overcome by dizziness than by nausea (having a hard time even sitting up), and they suspect "neurocardiogenic syncope," which is what my GP suspected too when I saw him after my ER visit for low blood pressure, but it can be aggravated by pregnancy, so it went from being something that would hit me temporarily every so often to something that's been pretty constant for the last two weeks. So the solution is that I will be getting IV fluids administered every day at home, with some Zofran mixed in for good measure. I'm going to try to stay on top of the constipation with Colace and fiber, and use Miralax if necessary. They even brought me a coke and had my blood drawn while I was lying down in the exam room; I just feel glad to know I'm not crazy or lazy or something.

Yenny, I hope your doctor appointment goes well. What did they say when you called?

Will be back to catch up later! Still feeling dizzy and also watching the Tour de France. ;)

Totally off subjectt of JBP, but my husband was just diagnosed with Factor V Leiden after developing pulmonary emboli after surgery. Just curious what prompted you to get tested and how you found out, since they normally don't test unless you have a reason to be tested.

We will be proactive though, now that we are aware that DH has it, and our daughter will be tested.

Hi Charbie! I found out in 2003 that I had FVL when my Mom suffered from bilateral PE and nearly lost her life - it is a miracle she is here with us today. They tested my whole family and found that my maternal grandfather, mom and her two brothers and 4/6 grandchildren all were hetero for FVL. My Grandfather then in 2008 suffered multiple strokes due to undiscovered DVTs and lost his life. I will definitely be getting my baby tested once it is born because I honestly think it is such a blessing to be able to know and be proactive. It is not the worst thing to have, but it sure helps to know how to prevent clots in certain circumstances. I truly hope that your husband is recovering well and wish him all the very best. I will also send some *dust* that your baby girl doesn't have it, not because it is a big deal if she does but of course it is always better if they don't! :))

Re:

Sha, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. :blackeye: You're such a sweet poster, and your daughter is beautiful.

Re:

Hi girls,
Just popping in quickly to say thanks for all the kind words. :))

((Still lurking and cheering you guys on!!))

Re:

Sha, I have no doubt that all of us are thinking of you. I hope that you're doing as well as you can.

PhG, I'm so glad you got to see the hb and it's strong! And I'm also very glad that you have a diagnosis for all the crappy symptoms you've had over the past two weeks. It must be a relief feeling like it's NOT just you and that there is a solution to make your life easier! So how will the IV fluids be administered? Do you have an IV now and you have to administer the fluids yourself? When I was a kid (after one of my surgeries), I had to do IV fluids at home for about 10 days. It really wasn't that bad. I hope you start feeling some relief soon!

Marlie, I definitely feel you on being less confident in a bathing suit. I would rather have my normal body or be obvoiously pregnant. The bloated look isn't my favorite, but what are you going to do, you know? I hope you enjoy the weekend and stay cool!

LC, I can't remember what I asked at my first appointment...and it's only been a couple of weeks! I didn't see my regular ob, but the nurse that D and I spoke with was very thorough and went over everything we might need to know. What to expect in the next few weeks, who to call if I had questions, when all of the ultrasounds would be scheduled, what to expect at each apptointment, all of our options for genetic testing. She was great. Can't wait to hear an update from you on Monday!

AFM, still not feeling as bad as I was last week, but I'm not going to obsess about it. I'm going to enjoy my weekend, stay out of this heat and catch up on some rest! TGIF!

Re:

Hey everyone!

Sha, we're all thinking about you. You're one strong lady and it sounds like you have a wonderful family. Hugs!

PhG, How are you doing today! I'm glad you got a "It's not just in your head" answer from your doctor. I'm glad they can hopefully treat this issue easily and you'll be back to normal (relatively speaking) in no time! Hooray for seeing the hearbeat! Sounds like this little one is growing just great! Good for you!

Marlie, I hear you on the bathing suit thing. DH said he wants to hit the "beach" this weekend, I think I might pass, because of the whole bloat yuckiness. Sounds like your weekend will be fun and relaxing. You totally deserve it.

Going to pick up my ring now! It got remade, and I got a "free" upgrade to a 1.05CT :appl: A few months ago it got lost... :blackeye: But it was insured so it's been replicated. It's not the same, but it'll do.

Appt's on Monday at 11:30! Woo, I'm getting excited :)
