Re:

Just a quick check in....

Muffdog - How was your appointment?

S&I - Wow over 13 weeks and still feeling nauseous? I still haven't felt that yet!

Afm, ultrasound tomorrow and going by myself :(sad Oh well I'll have a pretty ultrasound picture to show for it if all goes well!

Check back in later!

Re:

Hey Missy - appt went fine. It was a little underwhelming because she didn't DO anything - just talked about what I needed to know. I'm not sure how it works in the states, but in Canada you have to be referred to an OBGYN, so we talked about what Dr. I wanted and she is going to send in the referral.

I also went for bloodwork and will call in for my results later today. She wasn't even going to do the HCG test but I asked for it. She is a very calm, laid back doctor. I asked for it anyways haha.

I will report back when I hear.

I think I mostly want to know because I have no symptoms. I'm tired, but I'm always tired. That's about it!

Have fun at the ultrasound!!! Can't wait to see a pic :-)

Re:

Muffdog - I don't have many symptoms either yet. Just tired, boobs are sore here and there, and more hungry but get full fast!

Ultrasound went great this morning! She measured me at 6 weeks 4 days, EDD June 9th. I calculated 7 weeks exactly today from my ovulation date. I got to see the heartbeat which was just the coolest thing  109 bpm. She had a hard time calculating, because either I would move or she would move just the slightest amount and it was hard to count! She even had me hold my breath so my uterus wouldn't move as I breathed haha. Oh and I found out I have a tilted uterus. Whatever that means! My appointment was at 8am and I was out of there by 8:30 so didn't take long. Oh and only one in there! I was freaked out about twins. My mom has a twin brother and her mom had a twin sister.

And here's baby's first picture! Not much to see yet, just a lil blob, but I love the lil blob already!

Re:

choro, I'm not sure about MIL. In general she goes out of her way to avoid giving us advice (at least that I hear). Hopefully DH will try and filter what she has to say. I don't really feel KU most of the time either so you aren't alone! Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

China, yes it involved a pig and I'm still grossed out thinking about it.

Missy, I'm sorry DH didn't get to see your little bean. I'm curious on whether I'll get an ultrasound at my appointments. I want one for dating since I didn't O till CD20 and I want my due date based on that, and of course I want to see the little bean and find out everything is ok! So glad your bean looks healthy and you got to see them today!

S&I, I hope your 2nd trimester bliss kicks in soon!!

Muffdog, glad you got your referral! Hope your bloodwork looks great!

AFM, nothing new. I'm feeling occasional cramps and I fell asleep at 9 last night, but other than that feeling pretty good for now. I definitely worry sometimes about how the bean is doing, but I know there's nothing I can do at this point but wait.

Thinking of all you other JBP!

Re:

Hey ladies, just wanted to say I'm heading over to TTC. But I wanted to thank everyone for their support and cheering me on. I hope to be back here in no time at all! Good luck to everyone!

Re:

Missy congrats on seeing your little one for the first time!

Megumic, so sorry about your loss. I hope you're doing as best as can be expected.

Re:

Megumic - I'm so sorry :-( Hopefully we'll see you back here soon!

Steph - did you sleep all the way through the night from 9 p.m.?! That is impressive!!

Missy - that is so cool!! I don't think I get an ultrasound for a while so it is neat to see yours!

AFM - I was just about to come on here and rage that the doctor's office hadn't called me with the results of my blood work but they called AS I WAS TYPING! Crazy right?! Anyways - no results yet. The lab said it would take one day but I guess it takes two. Weird. Ah well. I thought it was SO nice that the office called regardless (especially because I was already internally raging at the fact I hadn't heard from them :-)

I guess I'm feeling...ragey these days! Blame it on the blob I suppose :-)

Hope everyone is feeling well. I'll report back tomorrow if I hear anything.

Re:

Meg - So sorry it didn't turn out :(sad

MP - Thank you!!!

Muffdog - Hope you get good results tomorrow then! :)) I only had an early ultrasound because my doc went by my LMP which I guess would put me at 11 weeks or so(that's why it says that on the ultrasound pic), but when she did the internal exam before my pap, she said my uterus size felt like 7 - 8 weeks at the most, so she ordered a dating ultrasound. I'm about to have all kinds of bills coming to me soon! Luckily my work pays for whatever insurance doesn't cover since my deductible is $6,000.

Steph - I hope they give you an early ultrasound! I didn't even mention my O date to my doc, they wouldn't care anyway. I did tell her I didn't get a +HPT until CD56 though so she knew my cycle was long. Glad you're feeling pretty good so far also. I know it freaks you out when there isn't much going on. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm still able to eat AND smell pretty much anything  nothing has grossed me out yet.

My parents are on their way here to go out to dinner. We're going to tell them the news tonight. I didn't think of anything creative to do, so we're just gonna tell them! Haha.

Missy - how did it go, telling the parents?

AFM - I'm going to lose it.The dr. office still hasn't called with results and when I call, there is no answer! Probably screening my calls...

But seriously - how long does it take?!

Re:

Muffdog - :angryfire: I hate when doctor's offices do that!! Is it lunch time where you are? I know I've caled around that time and the phone seems to ring forever before someone answers. Please let me know when you hear from them!

My parents came over, I showed them the new room we painted. We just happened to randomly pick a green color, so I don't know if that's what tipped my dad off or not! We came back down stairs and DH said to them "Missy has something she wants to say" I walked over with the ultrasound pictures and just blurted out "I'M PREGNANT!!!" and my dad said "I knew it, I just had the feeling but I wanted to let your mom be surprised!!!" Little does he know that my mom already knew ;)) So I told them the due date and my dad said "maybe it will come a little early and will be born on May 24th" which is my dad's birthday. My mom said "Yeah, especially if there's twins in there, they come early you know!!!" She seems to think the other baby is hiding in there haha. After dinner DH and my dad shook hands and my dad said to DH, "cya later Pops!" So it went pretty well!

Re:

Missy, yay for seeing your little blob! Isn't it crazy how early you can see that blinking heart? I'm sure your tilted uterus is nothing to worry about. Glad your parents are so excited, and  about your mom's comment about a twin hiding.

Steph, definitely get in as much sleep as you can now! I've been either taking naps after work or going to sleep an hour or two earlier than I used to. Unfortunately, my nausea is at its worst at night now, so finding a comfy position at bedtime is getting to be a challenge.

Meg, so sorry you had to go through such a painful rollercoaster of an experience.

MuffDog, sorry you still haven't gotten your results back yet. I'm sure they are not screening your calls.

AFM, I guess I should leave this lovely thread and move on over to the big girls thread. But I like it here!

Re:

So I called again and finally got the results. My betas are 3490. Not sure what that means, but I think it is fine, right?

My last period started on Sept 16, and while I'm not sure when I ovulated, I'm guessing it was around September 25, because we DTD then and didn't again till October 6. (We didn't know what we were doing with the charting, etc).

I'm fine, right?

(first time preggo here, can ya tell?!)

Re:

Muffdog, I think the most important thing with the beta is that it doubles at an appropriate rate - there is a wide range of normal beta for the level of pregnancy. Are they having you do repeat bloodwork tomorrow? Sadly I did not sleep straight through from 9 pm, I napped on the couch before DH took mercy on me and woke me up to send me to bed.

Meg, so sorry things did not turn out well for you. I'll be hoping to see you again here soon. Hugs!

Missy, glad things went well with the parents, and lol to your mom convinced there are 2 in there. Do you have a history of twins in your family? I might have spoke too soon on the food because the leftover chicken I had for lunch today was seriously making me feel ill. I forced it down but ugh.

S&I, I've been trying to enjoy sleep while I can! For the most part I've actually had pretty severe insomnia since I found out, but I've had a few glorious nights of falling asleep early and getting tons of sleep. We will miss you but hopefully we'll all be joining you in the big-girl thread in no time!

Re:

Oh Meg, I'm so sorry. Come back soon!

Missy, yaaay @ your little bean's picture! Sorry your DH wasn't there. Which reminds me, I had better call the hospital to make sure that they are going to do a ultrasound on our first appointment. I didn't know they can detect the heartbeat so soon! Have you told your IL yet?

S&I, yaaaay, you made it to the safe stage! Congratulations!

MuffDog, I have no idea what the beta number means. First time preggo here too! Have you been assigned to your OBGYN yet?

Steph, weee, pregnancy symptoms! I'm sure I'll won't be saying wee when it hits me...Good luck. Jealous of your sleep!

AFM, thank you to all who reassured my lack of symptoms. Starting my 6th week, and still no symptoms. I'm seeing my high school friend who's visiting from Japan today. I hope he swallows my "designated driver" excuse for not drinking. Have a great week everyone!

Re:

Hi everyone!

I am pretty bad at keeping up with posting here :? So I am just doing a quick fly by post.

Meg: I am so, so sorry for your loss and wish you lots of luck TTC'ing!

Everyone else (see- bad at keeping up to date!): Good luck with the next few weeks of being JBP! I am going to move on up to the big girls thread (with some trepidation) now that I am 13 weeks.

See you all there soon :wavey:

Re:

Hey Choro - haven't set up an appointment yet but I have requested a particular referral so I'm hoping for the best. I had put myself on a midwife list but so far they don't have any spots for me. Which is crazy, since I'm like...4.5 weeks along. Seriously.

Feeling fine today still. Had a migraine yesterday. Called this local place called Mother RIsk that is a preggo helpline run out of a hospital that will tell you about if you can take certain drugs. I asked about Ibuprofen. They said it was fine up to 32 weeks. So I took some.

Now I'm freaking out and stressing about whether that was the right move. Ugh.

Mothers' guilt. I'd better get used to it, right?

Re:

Is there room for another over here? ;))

I am ever-so- slowly making my way onto this thread, as I've just learned I am pregnant. This makes baby #2. DS turned 2 last week, so they'll be roughly 2.9 years apart. DH and I are thrilled, but being extra cautious, since I got my BFP so early - somewhere around 9dpo- 10dpo. My doc's office was closed for the weekend, by the time I got my BFP, so I am hoping to get in there on Monday for a blood test to make sure everything looks ok. My symptoms have been sore BB's, tired, and a nasty headache.

It definitely hasn't sunk in yet that we're having another baby. We tried for 2 cycles and agreed that if it didn't happen by next month, we would wait until next spring, due to DH's work schedule. We both have very demanding careers, so it's going to be interesting to see what happens after baby #2 gets here. I guess we'll worry about that when the time comes!

Wishing you all health and happiness during this exciting time!

Re:

Hi Sugarpie! Congratulations and welcome :-)

Hope everyone had a good weekend. While I still am not feeling all that many symptoms, I've been feeling...hungover recently. Like headache and my stomach feels gross. Like I don't want to eat anything, and if I did, it would be a greasy breakfast, but I don't even want to eat that.

Does anyone know what I mean?

Our plan is to tell the rents next weekend. I get kind of nervous thinking about it!

How is everyone else doing?

Re:

Happy Monday ladies!

Choro, were you able to keep things a secret from you friend?

Bye Bobbin! Congratulations on moving on up, hope your bean keeps baking away splendidly!

Muffdog, it's so stressful figuring out what is safe to put in your body! I spent almost an hour googling to try and find out which of my skin care products I can still use and I still worry about it sometimes. I felt nervous about telling my parents too, but it went fine.

Welcome sugarpie! Congratulations and wishing you a happy and healthy nine months.

Hi to all the other ladies! Hope your weekends were fabulous!

AFM, I'm now 5w4d. I spilled the beans to two close friends this weekend. They were visiting and we went out to lunch at a brewery, so my cover was blown pretty quickly. They knew I was trying and so once they asked I admitted the truth. I was a little nervous about telling one of them as she has been trying for some time and is currently taking Clomid, but she seemed happy, even if I am sure it stung her a little.

And this morning I got out of bed, showered, and started dry heaving. :nono: Didn't actually puke I thought for sure it was coming. Hopefully this won't become a habit! I snacked on some crackers and felt better after, so I've stashed the rest in my bedside table and will be having a snack as soon as I wake up from now on. Any other MS prevention tips?

Re:

bobbin, congratulations! I will feel so much better once I hit your stage as well :D I hope to see you soon!

Muffdog, Just wait until the little one is actually born. I heard you freak out about every little thing. Then when you have the second one, you wouldn't bat an eye if she eats dirt. Good luck with your parents!

sugarpie, congratulations! I hope you won't mind me asking you a lot of questions since you're an expert already!

steph, I head that ginger candies does wonders. Or pieces of ginger? I also heard about the crackers too, so I'm sure you're doing fine! My friend didn't suspect a thing! He drank with DH so he didn't care. I asked him tons of stuff since he has a 8 month old, but he was so excited talking about his daughter that he didn't even think it was strange.

AFM, 5w4d, or 5w5d? Or am I in the sixth week? I'm not too sure how to count this thing. Anyway, we took out my friend to Bubba Gump and I think I depleted the world supply of shrimp+shellfish (all cooked!). They were all smothered in garlic and butter, and I had tons of garlic bread too. So yeah, definitely no ms. I guess I'll enjoy it while I can.
I was finally able to catch my mom on skype and tell her. She was surprised, and promised not to tell anyone other than my dad. She doesn't trust the pee stick, so I don't think she wants to believe it until she sees the ultrasound. She said that she didn't have ms with me other than overflow of saliva, so maybe I'll be lucky like that too!
Sticky thoughts everyone! And have a great week!

Re:

Hi everyone!

Bobbin - Congrats on graduating to the BIG thread!

Steph - Uh oh...dry heaving, great! I haven't had that yet, so no remedies coming from me yet!

Choro - Mmmm Bubba Gump! I haven't made it there to eat yet! W love the movie so we desperately wanna go to at least say we've eaten there! My first trip to NYC, I went to the Bubba Gump store to at least buy a shirt for DH. It feels good to let the news out though doesn't it?

Muffdog - I don't really have the hungover feeling yet. Just tired and starving and still able to eat whatever I want to without it coming back up....yet!

Afm, 7w2d and ready to go home and take a nap. This work thing is getting in the way lately  Told DH's parents this weekend, they're pretty excited! When we went out for dinner they asked how many in our group and DH's mom says "10 now...it'll be 11 the next time we come here!" haha. And when we split the check at the end the waitress said "Here's the check for the 2 adults, no children" DH's mom says "No children YET!" My SIL didn't really have anything to say either way because I stole the attention for all of 5 minutes total so I guess she was jealous! Whatever!!! Don't need her approval anyway!

Re:

Welcome Sugarpie! :wavey: I had a feeling you'd be next. ;))

Muffdog- NOT to freak you out, but generally you aren't supposed to take aspirin or ibuprofren while pregnant. DON'T freak out, you are still so early and things aren't crossing bloodstream yet AND I am sure one dose won't matter. Check with your dr, but everything I've been told and read says that acetaminophen is fine, but no Advil/Motrin/aspirin. Just FYI. Also the hungover feeling is exactly how I felt with my first pregnancy. Exactly!!! This go round I am way more sick and queasy. Mine went away by 10 weeks last time. Eating small meals every few hours made me feel immensely better. This time, not so much. :(sad Even WATER makes me queasy. Ugh.

Eat. Eat regularly, even when you feel sick, and eat WHATEVER it is that sounds good. Even if its crap, you'll have plenty of time to improve your eating habits. Don't feel bad, just try to eat every couple hours. Its the ONLY thing that helped me. Oh, and the preggie pops. Those did help settle my stomach a bit, also.

Ditto Elle! Preggie pop drops were my best friend for my more mild nausea, they really did work. And eating what sounded edible was totally necessary. Right now in week 21 my fave things are apples and salad, but for the entire first tri I lived on bagels, muffins, and pasta. Carbs, carbs, and more carbs... and I don't regret it! I literally could not stomach anything else, and it always made me feel better. And if it gets really bad and you can't stop yakking, call the doctor and ask for help! They make stuff for that. :))

Thanks ladies! Picked up some preggie pops after work today so I'll give those a try, and I"ll definitely keep up the constant eating I have already established.

What they said. AND eat something high in protein late at night. It'll help you so your blood sugar doesn't drop and make you pukey in the morning. In fact, eat as much protein as you can handle! It helped me so much. I ate a LOT of Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwiches...

Re:

I couldn't stomach protein early in pregnancy, I was like Katy - anything white, refined and carbolicious was the go! I had zip-lock bags of biscuits and rice cakes for work, and then at home I would make sure that I had something to eat before bed, and then a mug of hot malted milk late at night. I kept dry biscuits on my bedside table for first thing in the morning - eating one or two would make it much easier to get out of bed without feeling wretched.

Re:

Steph, I think the preggie pops will help. They were the only thing that got me through many a meeting.

Also, just echoing everybody else: eat and eat often. It's a trial-and-error process for the most part. Protein actually helped me a bit more than carbs, but it's different for each person. I never ever felt hungry, I just had varying degrees of nausea--when I started feeling worse, I ate. Just eat anything that doesn't sound repulsive without worrying about how healthy it is. I had an entire shelf in my fridge filled with yogurt and didn't eat a single one--I usually had a sausage biscuit or something equally unhealthy instead. Frustrating, but eating every 2 hours was the only thing that got me through.

Eating often = weight gain and that's fine. I worried when I gained 10 lbs. my first trimester. Everybody told me it would even out and I'm telling you that, too. It does. I have only gained 3 lbs. in the past 2 months and am back to being "on track".

You'll get through it! I know it's miserable, but it makes you appreciate feeling hungry again once you get past it!

Re:

re: morning (or all day) sickness. I couldn't eat protein either. I was all carbs all the time in my first trimester. I too gained 10lbs in the first trimester (ok, maybe 12). I did gain a lot overall because I didn't restrict myself AT ALL. I lost it all within a few months so I didn't sweat it.

I also used motion sickness bands. They helped a lot. I think you can buy them at your local drug store. There are lots of brands but I used these (had to buy them online):

http://www.amazon.com/Psi-Bands-Acupressure-Wrist-Band/dp/B000X9V2H8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1319550984&sr=8-1

Re:

Thanks for the warm welcome! I’m so happy to be part of the group

Muff - I am totally with you on the hung-over feeling. I feel fine all day long, and in the evening it hits me in waves. I can only imagine what it’s going to be like in a few weeks…

Steph – Preggo pops, crackers, bread, anything bland worked for me during the first trimester of my first pregnancy. I also enjoyed drinking warm water with a slice of lemon, and an occasional sip (or two ;)) ) of ginger ale to help settle my stomach.

Choro – congrats on sharing the news with your mom! That’s a great idea to share the news on Skype. DH and I still haven’t decided how to tell our families. Maybe we’ll try that!

China – :wavey: both of our kiddos will be roughly around the same age!

------------------------------------

AFM – this week marks Week 4. My symptoms are pretty much non-existent during the day, but appear during the evening. Mainly, the “hung-over” feeling noted above and getting tired early (but that could easily be attributed to working a stressful job and chasing our 2-year old around after work).

The biggest challenge is trying not to over-analyze and Google every single symptom (or lack of symptoms). Most pregnancy symptoms don’t start until around the 6th week, and I know this since I’ve already had a baby, but I just can’t help driving myself crazy and researching every little thing! And of course, I always zero in on the negative stuff . Sometimes I feel like I should step.away.from.the.computer.
