sorry i wasnt there for you right away. i have been away. i got chills when i read that you were robbed. at least they have leads to get them. it doesnt make it all better, but i know that i would feel better that they were at least caught!

we were robbed once and luckily we lost more electronics than anything else. i only have a few worthy pieces of jewlery and was wearing them at the time, but it felt like they were still in the house even though i knew they were not. its like i felt that they were watching us. i am soooo glad that you have another place to live. you dont have to be there anymore. i am so sorry this happened to you.

Glad to hear that you got some of your items back. I hope that you get more back soon! Enjoy the new house.

Gypsy, I''m terribly sorry this happened to you! But it is amazing you were able to recover some pieces and especially the ones from your grandmother! I am glad to hear you are moving and won''t have to live there any longer!

Layla it is so wonderful to hear that at least you got some of your stuff back AND they know who did it! Small victories right?

So sorry to hear about the burglary, how frightful! So happy for you that you managed to recover some of your items and that you're moving to a new place for a fresh start. Hopefully more pieces pop up. Huge, huge hugs, you have a great attitude, sounds like you are dealing with this very positively! Stay safe!

On a sidenote, I do empathize because we went thru the exact same thing. They were casing us too, broke our bathroom window with a brick and took our entire safe which had all my jewellery except what I had on. Then we discover our renter's insurance only covered jewellery to $500 with a $2.5k deductible - our insurance agent turned out to be a piece of work. It felt awful to lose $40k of jewellery but worst was how violated I felt. It took me 6 months to get over it - I couldn't go out at night, didn't sleep well, became a recluse. We did end up staying in the same house so that made it worse maybe? Bute we did add additional motion sensors for the alarm on all rooms including the bathroom this time.

And Diagem is SO right, we need to be more aware of the trails we leave. Hope everyone stays safe.

I am happy to hear that you got some of your jewelry back, that is wonderful news.

so sorry!glad that you are safe and that you still have your diamonds.

((((((((((((((((((( Gypsy & John and Kitties )))))))))))))))))

I''m so sorry you have been so victimized and violated. That''s so scary. I am just grateful that nobody was hurt. I hope that being in your new place with provide you more security.

I''m sorry that this happened to you. My house was broken into a few years ago and some items were stolen. I felt so violated and upset. I''m glad that you were able to get some of the items back, hopefully you''ll find a few more of the pieces.

Gypsy, I''m glad to hear you recovered at least some stuff. And you''re right, I was thinking after I read your initial post, it doesn''t matter how much something is worth, or whether it''s insured, it''s the sentimental value that can''t be "repaced/recovered".

Glad to hear they got the guys too. Do you think there''s any chance they could get out of them what they did with the rest of your stuff? I know it''s a long shot, but still....

Good luck in your new home sweetie!

Gypsy, there''s not really much else I can say that''s not already been said by other PSers. I''m sorry for what happened to you and I hope they catch those b"stards. It really sickens me to hear such things - innocent hardworking people shouldn''t get violated by low life thugs!! I hope you recover the rest of your jewelry. Give the kitties some extra luvins (it''s pretty therapeutic!)

Gypsy, I am so sorry to hear what happened. I hope they catch those creeps and lock them up for a long time! I am glad you got some of your pieces back and I hope you''ll get back more of it. I don''t blame you for moving. Hugs to you and the kitties. (and you DH too).

Gyspy, just got home and saw the news. I am so sorry! Glad that some of the gold has been recovered, perhaps some more will be recovered soon.

Gypsy, I am so saddened to hear this. I will be thinking of you and I'm thrilled that you are okay, your cats are okay and some of your items were recovered. If you have any pictures of the items you might want to take them to pawn shops around town to have them alert you if someone trys to sell those items. Big hugs!!

Hi, Gypsy!

Not anyone I know. Whew!

Whew indeed. It''s a small comfort, but it''s definitely a comfort!

Dust for your new home!

((HUGS)). We have no internet at home yet (crossing fingers for tomorrow) so I''ve been MIA, and today was crazy at work. But I want you to know that I just really appreciate all the support and that we are much better.

Okay so... John, Hally, Lucy and I are much better.

Frodo and Duncan HATE moving and are currently doing their best to bond with the down comforter. They have not come out except for minimum food and water and for um... bathroom purposes. They slink and slowly CREEP when they leave the bed.

But it''s MUCH better to be out of there. And I really am grateful that if this had to happen, we were able to move (mostly, we still have much stuff at old place, will move that over this coming weekend) so quickly.

Love you all.
Layla

Thanks for the update, hoping the kitties will get used to their new home soon. I am glad you and John are out of there, now a new chapter begins.

Just saw this thread, and so sorry to hear about the robbery. Hugs and best wishes.

Oh, Gypsy, I just found this thread. So sorry about the sentiment of the lost pieces. I am glad some items were recovered and that you are doing better.
Hugs!

Gypsy, I''m so sorry about what happened, but glad to hear you and your family are ok. My WB & ER were stolen and I know how violated you feel. Sending hugs and good thoughts your way.

Gypsy:

I''ve been gone a while from the boards - and just out of a refueling outage (nightmare hours for 6 weeks).

I am very sorry this happened to you. But, be glad that you were not there or injured.

These were likely pro''s and no they did not exactly know where to look. Unfortunately, they knew in general were to look as people are very predictable. A standard break in, search the house and grab what you can, and get out only takes 5 - 10 minutes. It only takes longer if they take a big item.

The key to all of this is understanding some things about home safety and security. First off, any professional can get in. Second, you can make it hard - but only buy spending money on break in resistant windows and doors (which cost a lot more than ordinary windows and doors). Third, anything of value should be in a sold safe - that is difficult to move. That is where my gemstones and some other things are.

I wish you the best, and keep in mind that life will go on and you will do just fine. Say Hi to John for me too.

Gypsy.

I am so sorry this happened to you... I have been in the same place before, so I know the emotions you are going through.

Try to remember,,, your life and health , as well as your families.. is what matters most. You will always have memories.

It is awful that people steal ..I believe in Karma

There were two guys, white medium brown hair, around 19-20 who did the break in. The Police had a thumb print. And it looks like they are local, this isn't their first job, and they were 'casing' us for at least a week before. Not anyone I know. Whew!

I'm glad it wasn't anyone you knew. I am also glad you moved. Why not put in an alarm system and use it, too? (I keep thinking of the poor Redskins football player-Sean Taylor-who had an alarm system but did not have it turned on and was shot to death by intruders in Florida!) Professional thieves may turn off an alarm system, but I doubt that they would want to enter your home while you were there!

Oh man, I hope things work out and the crooks are found!

Have you found any more of your jewelry at the pawn shops yet?

Thinking about you and hoping for the best!

Gypsy, I don''t hang around here much and so just saw this. I''m so sorry for the loss of so many of your jewellery. I''m relieved that you managed to recover quite a bit of the gold items from the pawn shop and that the police have a good lead on the perpetrators. Continue to check out ebay and other local pawn shops. My heart goes out to you as I understand that the heirlooms and sentimental pieces may not be worth a lot monetarily but they are priceless in our hearts and memories. I''m also thankful that no one was hurt, the cats are recovering and nothing else was damaged. Stay strong!

Gypsy,
I also just saw this. I feel terrible for you. My sister was broken into about 6 weeks ago. I''m happy you''re in a new place I don''t blame you guys for moving. Glad you and John and the cats are doing well in your new digs. Good vibes being sent your way.

Gypsy,

My sympathies. I must say I''m impressed with how you''re handling it. You really show that while it sucks to lose things of sentimental value, you at least still have the memories. It may never replace the material jewelry but you seem to have your priorities in the right place.

I''m so glad to hear you, your hubby and your cats are ok.

Oh Gypsy,

I am soo sorry to hear about this. It galls me what people are really capable of doing. I am glad to hear that you, John and the little kitty cats are fine.

I hope they are caught, and that you recover more of your pieces in the next few days and weeks.
