Long and just surreal story short, one of the pawn shops had a large portion of my gold.

I am not minimizing your other losses, Layla, but this is wonderful!!! I never recovered a single piece I lost in the burglary of my home! I lost the same kind of things you did: an amethyst ring I had had since birth from a great-aunt; the coral earrings my husband bought me in Paris the night he asked me to marry him; and the gold wedding ring a male friend had used when he became a Third Order Franciscan. He was currently a Missionary of Charity and I was keeping his ring for him. The sad part was that he left the Missionaries of Charity, after a talk with Mother Theresa, but I no longer had his old ring for him.

Gypsy,

I cannot believe that this happened to you guys. I''m so glad you, John and the kitties are safe, and that you were able to recover some of the gold. I hope you can recover more items, especially the ones you really cared about.

Enjoy your new home...TG you guys are safe.

I am so glad you managed to recover some of your stuff hopefully you get the rest of it soon.

Oh honey, I''m so so sorry. Please let me know if there''s anything me and DH can do - you know we are hear for you guys, if you need anything at all.

Sending thoughts and prayers to you and sweet John and the kitties - thank goodness you are all safe and OK.

the set from my paternal grandmother.

Oh, thank goodness! I''ll keep my fingers crossed that you find more too.

Oh Gypsy,
That is just awful! The violation of invaders in your space is so upsetting. Your poor kitties! Thank goodness you are moving and that some of your heirlooms were recovered. hugs!

Gypsy - I am so so sorry again that you went through this but I wanted to say that I am SO happy you got some of the pieces back and that you got your set from your grandmother. I hope you find the rest!

Gypsy, I''m so happy you were able to retrieve some of your valuables. What a great idea Oobiecoo had to check out the local pawn shops. Of course you''re right about not being able to replace items of sentimental value. I''ll keep my fingers crossed that those and all of your other valuables find their way back to you. Stay strong and good luck with the move (((hugs)))

oh no! Gypsy, that is awful. i really feel for you and John. i am keeping my fingers crossed that you are able to recover additonal pieces.

*hugs*

I''m so gald your family (including the cats) is ok, but that makes me sooooooo ANGRY!!! I HATE the fact that we live in a world with people who do this kind of thing. My aunt and uncle and their kids'' home was broken into recently. It is just horrible!

Sorry dear.

It is good to hear that some of your items were recovered. Perhaps the tide is changing and more will be found in the next few days. I am glad that you will be moving to your new apartment soon, so think of it as a "fresh" start. One day at a time dear...

BIG HUGS TO YOU GYPSY!!!!

Lori

gypsy,
i am so sorry that this happened to you and your hubby. thank goodness you guys weren''t there and that your cats are ok. that''s great news that you were able to find some of your jewelry at the pawn shop! were the pawn shop dealers able to give any descriptions to the police of the pple that sold your jewelry? i hope so..

yes, definitely keep an eye on craigslist..you never know, it may pop up!

sending many hugs your way..

I''m glad you''ve gotten some of your things back and I hope the police find everything else. Would you consider getting a safe deposit box at a bank to keep the jewelry you''re not wearing?

Hello all, thank you so much for the good wishes!

Madame, all the items are in a safe deposit box as of yesterday, including my engagement ring and the rest of my diamond jewelry. Nothing at home right now. Either home.

There were two guys, white medium brown hair, around 19-20 who did the break in. The Police had a thumb print. And it looks like they are local, this isn't their first job, and they were 'casing' us for at least a week before. Not anyone I know. Whew!

Overall, we're still shaken up, but with time and with the move, we'll be okay.

As to the stuff we haven't recovered. C'est la Vie.

I am so glad you got some of your precious things back Gypsy.

Are the local boys known to the police? I hope so. If they are caught soon maybe they will still have some of your jewellery.

I am so sorry you still have missing pieces but that is wonderful that you recovered some of them! Also the timing was perfect for your new home. I wouldn''t want to stay in the one that was robbed either. Also that is great the cops have a lead. I hope they catch them! My neighbor told me about her SIL who was just robbed at gunpoint. This is the time of year (and the economy is not helping) where you need to be careful. I am just relieved you or John were not home when it happened.

Gypsy I am so sorry this happened to you, it good you got some of your stuff back, I have had my house broken into I totally understand the anger and how violated you fill. My thoughts and prayers are going out for you.
