The beaches aren''t spectacular, but they are nicer than most of Europe''s beaches that I''ve been to (GB, Ireland, Northern France - very rocky). I would say the central beach is nice enough to bask in the sun all day.Date: 6/11/2008 1:31:57 PM

this hotel has it''s own private beach -- and it''s not far from Le Sirenuse -- but away from town just a little.Date: 6/11/2008 11:04:17 AM

Also, sna - did you check this one: http://www.ilsanpietro.it/
I did... It looks pretty nice, but I''m a bit confused about the layout of the area etc... Is it good to be near the center with shops etc? Where is access to the beaches? This will be the ''sit at the beach'' part of the honeymoon...
from what I remember about Positano is the beaches aren''t that great anyway -- kind of rocky? SInce Lauren was just there recently, she could probably comment better....
it''d better for 900 Euro a night for the cheapest room.Date: 6/14/2008 5:57:13 PM

To tread where Nabokov used to tread--how divine! I used to live in Jimi Hendrix''s old flat when I lived in London (not the blue plaque one, sadly) but can''t say I was ever inspired to get busy with fuel lighter and my teeth.Date: 5/29/2008 7:48:36 PM

I stayed at the Montreux Palace Hotel in Switzerland on WORK once. It''s right on Lake Geneva and Nabokov used to live there. I had a HUGE room with a balcony overlooked the alps and the lake. Ahhhh.

We'll be there in mid-August. I'm stunned that there are still rooms left.

I was there about years ago. It is a lovely medieval village high atop the hill, and you have a lovely view of the surroundings. We went all over, into Italy, into Cannes, Monaco...it was nice but be prepared for crazy driving...

Our last 2 days of the honeymoon are at the St. Regis Grand in ROme.. Was actually pretty reasonable... Less than $500 US/night...Date: 6/14/2008 7:32:39 PM

My favourite European hotels visited, thus far, have been the Hotel Danieli, Venice; Le Meurice, Paris; and St Regis, Rome.
If we don''t holiday in South America next year, I''d love to go to Hotel Sirenuse in Positano.
