I have a 4.60ct. yellow sapphire I would like to get a lab report on. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a specfic lab which would be best suited as far as determining diffision and heat treatment. Thanks in advance Doug

AGTA is the best bet if you are just looking for lab cert on treatment.

Judging from labs' (self-serving?) reports, detecting color treatment is trickiest on intense yellow color sapphires, so if you wanted a safe bet it may take a lab report indeed.

AGTA? Sure... don't know what would be left to wish for aside their service in terms of treatment ID. Every other lab talked about for diamonds also does gemstone reports (GIA, AGS, EGL...) - but they don't have Richard Hughes on board. Is that scientific criteria?

Is the stone in the US? If not, it may not be needed to pass by a US lab (thinking of GRS, GIA's foreign outlets, AIGS...and others).

My 2c

~5cts yellow sapphire sounds interesting!

Thanks for your replies Bertrand & Val. I was leaning towards AGTA. Just wanted to run the question through the forums first.
The stone is in the U.S. It is a in a ring I posted a picture of on the forums. Titled Three turtles sittin on a log. I just want to get it checked out for my peace of mind. Thanks again Doug
