hmmm, well bf said yesterday (while we were at the driving range) that he is not really into having a fancy watch. I wasn''t asking about wedding type presents specifically, just being sneaky and working it into the conversation. I thought he really liked that Breitling aviation watch, but I guess it was just a passing fancy. Maybe he''ll be getting golf clubs after all on our wedding day.

He will still get the cuff links and buttons though for an engagement gift because he has to have those for his uniform.

My boyfriend and I are splitting the price of the e-ring, actually. ALL of my friends are like, "Yeah, I guess it''s practical, but...it''s so unromantic!" He and I are not fabulously wealthy (we''ve only been working for a year) and our relationship has very much been a 50/50 one. If it''s just a lump of shiny rock that I want, then I should be paying for half of it.

I got SO a nice watch for our 4th anni and he scratched it right away! He was so upset and still complains about it being scratched, which I find cute. One day I will steal it and get it fixed for him I was looking at Movado watches, but he has such thin wrists...

it'' hard to pick watches that fit!

I am quite traditional when it comes to the e-ring. No, I would not spend the same amount of money on an engagement present for him - I don''t really think I will buy him an engagement present. The only thing holding us back from actually being engaged is the finances, so to go out and spend more money would be insane for us! He is also very traditional, and he wants to present me with a ring and ask for my hand in marriage with no expectation but a "yes" in return. We will buy eachothers wedding bands, and of course he can pick anything he likes and I would be more than happy to buy him something expensive if thats what he so desires.

This kind of ended up happening for us, although it wasn''t planned like this. My original e-ring was about 4k and soon after getting the ring he purchased a very nice flat screen tv that was only slightly less in price than my e-ring LOL. He purchased it on his own, but it''s all a wash anyways since we share money.
