I have three stones from JW that are begging for settings. I''m going to set at least one of them very soon, because I''m bad at resisting colored stone temptation

So the morganite (far right) will be a pendant, because it''s big and soft. I want to set it in the style of a Leon halo pendant http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/details.php?image_id=282 but right now it''s going to be out of my price range. So first game: find a look-a-like for less! Around $1000 or less, although I don''t know if that will be possible.

The two tourmalines, however, are definitely going to be rings. So game two: find the perfect setting! Requirements: $750 or less. No halo. Would love a split-shank for at least one.

Stats:

Pink tourmaline: 2.05 ct cushion, 7.9 mm

Blue-green tourmaline: 1.43 ct. cushion, 6.6 mm

Morganite: 4.33 ct. asscher, 9.6 mm

And I have size 3.5 fingers.

Thanks for playing!!

Oops forgot to post the pic!

The middle tourmaline would fit exactly into the Legacy LOGR, unless you wanted something a bit more upscale than that. It would look very similar to LaurenThePartier's Mozambique Tourmaline ring which everyone is enamoured with. Since Tiffany & Co sells it's Legacy with a minty tourmaline as well, it's something to consider. Wow, you have tiny fingers, not big 'ole fat ones like me (size 9!!)

LOGR also makes a 8mm legacy as well, and your 7.9 pink stone would fit in that. The legacy I guess is a halo, but I think it would look gorgeous in it. I'm sure others will come up with much better ideas.

LOL! Size 3.5 finger?? Really, how ya gonna lift yo hand with that thar big''O stone??

Thanks Tourmaline_Lover! Hmm...the green tourmaline would look really nice in a Legacy-style...and I would probably upgrade the diamonds to VS this time around. I think the larger pink one might be a little too big for me for a legacy-style...my garnet LOGR is a 7x7 and it pretty much covers my entire finger!

Haha Mochi, I freaked BF out when I first got the morganite. I told him it was over 4 cts., put it on my ring finger and said, "you know...I think this might be the perfect size...."

I think he nearly had a heart attack!

I would definitely upgrade the diamonds to VS and do 18K. I think a stone like that deserves it. I love looking at your new avitar.

Please post pictures when you get that gorgeous, one of a kind tourmaline.

I definitely will (posting pictures and upgrading if I go with LOGR). I can''t wait to see the stone in person - I e-mailed Jeff again to confirm that he''s sending it to my parents'' house (where I am now) otherwise it''ll languish in my mail room in Chicago for 3 weeks!

Update! Jeff shipped my tourmaline today!

I like the last 2 you posted!

BEG: I can''t wait to see the beautiful settings you decide on. I think your new blue-green tourmaline would look delicious in the Legacy style.

What Linda said.

Oh... I like that one, gecko!

Mochi - how deep is your Morganite? Asschers tend to be incredibly deep and therefore the settings can be prohibitive. I've not seen the WF pendant setting IRL so don't know if it would "flip". Might be worth asking the question?????

ETA: how about this as a cheaper alternative to the pendant setting - just to keep you going

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EMERALD-8x10MM-DIAMOND-14K-GOLD-SEMI-MOUNT-PENDANTS_W0QQitemZ220329658962QQihZ012QQcategoryZ67727QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

You could have it custom made for your Morganite, upgrade to VS and perhaps have it so that the chain is attached at each corner rather than a central bale.

Oh, you mean BEG... I don''t have a morganite...not yet!

I most certainly do. My apologies Mochi - BEG, the above post is for you!!!! Doh! Brain fog tonight!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and help! I''ve been MIA from PS for a while since I don''t have regular internet access while I''m home.

Mochi, thanks for the setting suggestions! JA is definitely a good possibility since I like the quality of their settings and I''ve worked with them on a project before.

Geckodani, I love that Stuller setting you posted! I e-mailed Sheerah at WF and she''s finding out for me if the semi-mount is available. I think the pink tourmaline would look really pretty in that.

I think I''m almost definitely going to go with the LOGR for the blue-green tourmaline...

AND I did receive the tourmaline! It is GORGEOUS! It''s this incredible delicate, almost seafoamy/shallow ocean water blue-green...I''m in love with it. Unfortunately, I left my camera USB in Chicago

I did take one picture on my phone and I''ll post it here but it is such terrible quality! But hopefully it''ll show something of it''s incredible color.

LovingDiamonds, I''m not actually sure how deep it is, but you''re right, it''s definitely worth thinking about, because I think it IS cut fairly deep because of its size and steps. But I like the pendant link you posted - I''ll have to give it more thought! Thank you!

Here's the pic I've been waiting for. Love your new tourmaline BrownEyedGirl. Please take clearer pics when you get your camera. I love the color. At least we can see the sparkle and the color!!

BTW, I received a minty Afghan tourmaline from Gene at Precisiongem, and I'm setting it in my LOGR. Here's some pics. I am having it bezel set and removing the prongs, like they set it at Tiffany&Co. It will give you an idea. My stone is 6.5 mm.

Oh it looks beautiful BEG, I can''t wait to see more pictures of it.

Thank you, TL and Linda!

The picture''s pretty bad, but the stone is sooo sparkly.

I''m planning on braving the below zero weather so I can take it outside and take some snow shots, along with the rest of the gems!

TL, thanks for the thread link - I love your new tourmaline, and it''s going to look fantastic in the LOGR minus prongs. I think I''m going to ask my jeweler to do the same and bezel it if they can!
