Let's talk branded pieces...Yssie, DS, and all other fans

Thank you!!! It wears beautifully and complements most of my wardrobe with ease. The dangle charm is a little cumbersome, however. Especially with a toddler. I find myself only wearing this bracelet when I’m not with the baby and also when I know I won’t be on my laptop. I am forever terrified of swinging it into a table or door! It’s also much harder to keep dry whilst washing hands due to the dangle, which is worrisome due to the MOP. I find it is fairly high maintaince, and I typically shy away from such pieces. Nonetheless, I don’t regret my purchase at all! It was also one of the first pieces I fell in love with at VCA and resisted buying it due to the dangle charm. BUT it is so beautiful, so feminine but playful and has so much character! I love it so!

Onyx Alhambra bracelet

What do you think I should go for? I am in love with my frivole earrings and I rememeber really loving the bracelet and single flower ring too. I also love the btf frivole ring but I really need my jewelry to be wearable pretty much daily or why buy it. I think that means I shouldn’t do the btf ring. I’m not super worried about scratches in general as I know it comes with the territory of a high polish shine. Just like my loves.

Exciting!!! Sooooo....while I would personally want the onyx Alhambra bracelet, my choice for you would be either of the frivole pieces. Why? These are my thoughts....

-You just got the frivole earrings so the onyx sweets studs would compete for ear time and since you are in love with the frivoles and they are your staple, I don't think this would be a satisfying pick.

-Would you wear the onyx bracelet with your loves? Would you be ok with it sliding around your loves? I'm not sure if it would get as much use.

-You are itching for another frivole piece and seem to already have a plan for the frivole bracelet on your right wrist so I'm leaning towards that choice (especially since it's a much lower price point so not making a big dent). However, the single motif ring is really pretty. I'd go to the boutique and try on both...see which one you walk away with

I think the best choice is the onyx Alhambra bracelet. It's a more significant piece than minis or sweets. But it isn't too flashly and is wearable with anything. It's totally different than your Loves but it can stand up to them size wise. But I would not stack it, as I would not want to scratch the onyx. I think it is able to stand alone.

I'd be a little afraid to do Frivole for anything but earrings and pendants because of scratching. However, I like the small ring a lot. That might be my other choice. I think the mini bracelet just might look too small compared to the bracelets on your other wrist.

All that said, I like all the pieces you are looking at. I just think the vintage bracelets give a more significant bang for the buck compared to the other items.

@hathalove I have to agree with diamondseeker and ac117 that #1 would be the vintage onyx bracelet. To me, that bracelet is just so wearable with casual and dressier outfits, and it is such an iconic VCA piece and dare I say it looks sexy as heck on. I bet it would look striking on the opposite hand of the love bracelet stack, as an alternative to your charm bracelet.

#2 would be the mini frivole bracelet.

I would personally not choose the sweet studs, since you already have the frivole studs. Also, depending on how you wear your hair, (mine is long and dark), the sweet studs in a dark color don’t tend to show up as much on me personally. The gold frivole studs are more noticeable with dark hair in my opinion.

I think either the vintage onyx or the frivole bracelet might be the two best choices, with the onyx being the best bang for your buck.

I can’t wait to see what you decide on! How exciting!

@hathalove since you know you will get it soon, I would actually just wait, to see what you keep thinking about and really really want. I think you want the frivole bracelet most. But I’m not sure that would be the best in the longer run. But on second thought go with what the heart wants. Nothing can really change that. Regardless I think you will be happy with whatever you choose. It’s VCA.

I found the exact same thing as @omd21! I love black and was sure I wanted the (vintage or magic) onyx ear clips, but when I tried them on, they were lost in my dark hair! Then I tried on the solid gold ones, and they showed up much better! I am quite sure the pave ones would be even better, however, I just can't justify putting that much into a pair of earrings! So the stones or solid gold will have to be what I aim for!

The other issue for me is that the yellow gold looks so great on blonds, and I am wondering how I'll feel about yellow gold earrings once I let my hair go silver/gray. I generally like white metals on me best, but many of the (non-pave) VCA pieces look so rich in yg. So that's a dilemma.

@hathalove, I'd go for the Frivole single flower ring in YG, since you love the Frivole line so much (who doesn't?!).

My second vote goes to the Onyx Alhambra bracelet, just bc I adore Onyx myself and am prob gonna get an Onyx bracelet or necklace at some point in the not so distant future.

@diamondseeker2006, it's funny that I keep reading about dark hair and dark-coloured earrings. I love my Onyx LE Alhambra earrings and personally think they really stand out. Love 'em!

ETA: As an aside, but rather important aside, if you were to buy the Onyx bracelet, pls try not to stack it with your Love bracelets. Recently, I stacked my tennis bracelets with my PP watch - like 2 or 3 times only - and I've just louped my watch and found several scratches with one so deep it looks like a piece of metal got gouged out!

The Frivole rings - single motif and BTF - are very different types of pieces from the others in your list! Do you already have a 'casual statement ring'? If not - one of these is my top pick

Your Love trio is a large, bold look - the Vintage bracelet could hold its own against them, as ac, ds, and omd mentioned. I believe the Frivole bracelet motif is the same size as in the Mini earrings... I'd prefer the bracelet motif be either smaller or larger to avoid matching too closely, to be honest.

I have the all yg vintage Alhambra bracelet. I have other yg pieces to wear with it, so I am not looking to collect a lot of yg since I think white metal looks better on me. However, I do really like the Frivole small earrings in yg a lot.

I could use the mop in white gold. I'd use the bracelet the most. I can always wear diamond studs or pearl earrings with that. I know I'd use it a lot in the summer.

I like onyx, too, but there's the dilemma of wg vs yg. I'd probably prefer the wg, but there are limited pieces available in wg at this time, probably because yg is popular right now. I am not going to do a custom order.

Then there's the unknown holiday pendant looming. But I could get that for Christmas. The stones I love most are not accessible, lapis and turquoise. I do not love the blue agate as much, but I might get the bracelet, we shall see. That likely will be next year, though.

Thanks, m-2-b! Actually my b-d is Thursday. My husband has been asking me for a week what I want and I kept saying I don’t know! Today he asked me and I said I’d just order something if that suits him. He said that’s fine...like $50? He was kidding. I said more than that! He said, like $20k? I said, no, less than that!

I do think I want a piece with white gold this time. My only hesitation about the long magic necklace is I might save that to buy if and when I go to NYC. Although it does concern me that they may stop making onyx in wg as they have stopped making the bracelets already.

Thanks, hathalove! I have 2 more days to order, technically! Lol! I wish I could do the pave Frivole, but my lifestyle is much too casual. My bank account is happy about that, too!

I have tried on small Frivole and did think they showed up better in yellow gold. I guess ideally one could have both metals. I do like onyx in both metals. I just need a master plan of what I eventually want to collect and I clearly haven’t figured that out yet!

When I think of all your pieces, your antique-inspired Asscher ring and your CVB sapphire ring, etc. they all tell the story of a classic, elegant lady. In my humble opinion, the frivole items don’t fit into that story. Have you tried on the white gold MOP vintage bracelet or magic pendant? I think those pieces would go so well with your existing pieces and would be such classic staples. I’m lusting after the white gold MOP bracelet myself.
