Either. In theory, demantoid is more brilliant, but this can only be a good thing. Any of the combinations feasible with the darker color sides would be great, IMO.
Mmmm, I like that pale grey-green grossularite color! It reminds me of a green diamond I saw on Leon Mege''s site and immediately lusted after. Isn''t it dreeeeeeeeeeeeeamy?
Ana and Camelia - I LOVE that second set of greens, too. Gorgeous! There''s something about that combo that''s just great!
Addlepated - I''ve noticed that ring on leon''s site, too, and always sort of wondered if my eyes were playing tricks on me! I could never figure out just what the color of the center stones was. It''s neat! I would almost prefer to see it with emeralds or another deep green stone instead of the pink stones, making it more of the monochrome, or maybe my eyes are just adjusting to that after looking at this thread for so long!
Addlepated mentioned that the crysoberyl reminded her of a green diamond... do you think a lot of lay people/non-gem-enthusiasts assume that all very pale stones are diamonds?
Not Monochrome, but I was actually thinking that this would be pretty:
Until I remembered seeing this:
Not a favorite ring of me (in all honesty, YUCK!), and it speaks for the dangers of "creative coloring." Enough to make a girl run screaming back to a sapphire-n-diamond combo!
On the other hand, what about some little alexandrites to flank their less glamorous cousin, the crysoberyl?
