Actually, I found a link to find free books...bookmark this and it gives you lists of free to cheap books (in order).

http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1269447268/ref=sr_pg_1?ie=UTF8&bbn=154606011&rh=n%3A133140011%2Cn%3A!133141011%2Cn%3A154606011%2Cp_30%3A-domain%20-breakthrough%20-excerpt%20-classics%2Cp_36%3A0-0&page=1

ETA: Quote from the forum I found the link on:

At the end before the "&page=1" there is 0-0. That pulls books that are from 0 to 0 in price.
You can change that to anything you want.

0-99 pulls books from 0 to 99 cents.
0-999 pulls books from 0 to $9.99.

I want to read Outlander...you guys are making me want a Kindle SO MUCH. I'm going to have to wait until December though.

I can't wait until I have one!

Nice thread idea TGal! Thanks for the link.

Gah I wish I had waited on Outlander. Bought it AGES ago after hearing great things on PS, and then never really got into it. I spent money on it too! :(

Can we also post free ebooks for other digital readers?

Project Gutenberg has a huge resource of open source ebooks that can be read on most ebook readers:

I'm getting my first Kindle in November for my birthday!!! I'm so so excited! I'm going to get the graphite wifi only and the pink cover. I'm thinking I'm going to get the one without the light though. I was surprised how much the covers for the Kindle are! But you have to have one.

I'll be getting my Kindle for Christmas. I also have the Kindle app on my iphone - downloading Outlander now. Also downloading Listening to God which is for free. I had heard good things about it so for those interested, it's available.

They have MANY classics available for free. If you want a Halloween Read, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is available for free.

Perfect thread for me! I have some birthday money and I've been seriously debating Kindle and Nook. Free is always more appealing! I've been trying to find a library that does the free lending but apparently my area is too rural.

SS - do you have a Kindle? Or Nook? I can't WAIT to get mine.

oh no im super disappointed - i read the reviews of Outlander, got excited, only to find i cant even buy it let alone download it for free because my Kindle is canadian :nono: ;(

I can't have it in the UK, either. I think it's because it was published under a different title here. If I recall correctly, it was called Cross Stitch. I think.

There are lots of complaints from Canadians about this...sorry I forgot to mention it. I'd be annoyed too....

df~ I don't have either yet. I was leaning Nook so I could do the library thing, but since that's not readily available to me I'm leaning Kindle. Do you have one yet?

Not yet, I am getting Kindle for Christmas. I'm actually really looking forward to it as it'll be easier on my eyes than the computer version (which I do have). I like how readily available SO MANY Things are on Kindle. I also like the format.

Yes, Outlander is full price in Canada and unavailable for Kindle. However, your link to the free books works and they do appear free and available! :appl: Sometimes what is free to the US is $2-4 for Canada, so it's hard to actually find free books. Thanks for the link, I did bookmark it.

I've been wanting to reread this and put it on my Kindle for a while now. I've got the hardback copy. When I saw it for free last week, it made my Kindle year. It's the best free book yet!! I am so stoked.

Great idea for a thread Tgal. I am obsessed with free Kindle books. I check Amazon daily.

Yay! I downloaded Kindle for my droid. I am using it as a "trial" and if I use it enough, ill ask for a Kindle or Nook. The only free book I have right now is The Scarlet Letter.

For those of you who don't have a Kindle, but want to take advantage of the free Kindle books (in case they are limited time only), download the mac or PC version of Kindle, open an account and download the free books. Then you can sync them to your Kindle later.

off topic but have a kindle question..

My husbands kindle came two days ago and we added it to my amazon account. All the books I've downloaded on my kindle were now archived on his. great! But, when he downloaded a few of the archived books, they opened to the last page I was on.

Then when I went to read my book, it asked me if I wanted to synch it..I said yes, and low and behold it went to like page 3 (or the kindle equivalent location) of what my husband was up to in the same book.

So I logged into my amazon account, went to synching and it said to turn it off (you have to do it on the web page) if there's more than one kindle registered to your account. So that's what I did. But now, I'm wondering if I can still synch my kindle to my blackberry?
I'd try myself but my phone's dead (charging now). Anyone know?

Tgal~ Thank you so much for letting me know that I could download to PC!! I'm going crazy with the samples. Planning on ordering my Kindle tomorrow!!! Squeee! Yeah, that's right, I "Squeeed" for Kindle.

eta~ What if the difference between "Kindle Book" and "Kindle eBook"???

I REALLY want a Kindle now. Really, really bad lol.
I'm also going to be publishing my novel on Kindle at the end of the month (or maybe next month, as it will likely need polishing). Considering putting it up for free, but I'll think about it. Maybe a dollar

Thank you TGal! :appl:

There's actually a lot on the link I posted which show free books, but they tend to be books with a religious overtone, which is why I don't post them here. Definitely keep up on the link from time to time!
