Little things to get into the Holiday spirit:

Does anyone do something little each and every night to boost yourself into the holiday spirit. So far we have decorated inside (tree is tomorrow) and put lights up on the outside, made homemade gingerbread and eggnog, but I'm working so much right now that by the time I get home, have dinner, spend some time with the DH I feel like I'm 'not doing all the little things I normally do that are fun for the holidays!

So I was curious to hear what everyone else does to get into the holiday spirit when there isn't a whole day to devote to it!!!

I've been a grinch for the past, oh, 10 years :cheeky: but I'm trying to get more into the spirit of Christmas this year (not that I ever hated Christmas - it just wasn't a big enough deal to decorate for it). I put up the tree (first time in 3 years) and decorated the house a bit since our family is coming to visit us for Christmas. I've also been listening to some Christmas music at work or on the weekends. Other than that, I don't do anything every day, but just seeing the tree and the couple decorations I've set out do make me a little more excited for Christmas than I would usually be.

Thats neat that you have done it this year when you haven't previous! Must be kinda cool coming home and seeing the deco up, and instant jolt into the holiday season! :appl:

I've been drinking a lot of cocoa and holiday wine, there's nothing more festive than that and a holiday cookie in my mind! I've also been listening to Christmas music while making dinner which is always fun. This weekend we are going to go visits some vineyards including the one that makes the above holiday wine, it's always nice to see the vineyards decorated for Christmas. Getting all the presents ready also puts me in a very festive mood, I love giving gifts! Even though I'm an awful wrapper I enjoy doing it and putting together gift bags.

I've been listening to Christmas music, and drinking lots of warm milk. That's mostly it though. I'm a scrooge this year.

It's also the first year the bunnies have seen the tree, and it's their favorite thing to sit under now! I'll have to put it up every year just for them ::)

Purselover - oooo I totally forgot I have a bottle of holiday wine! woooo hooo... breaking it out this weekend while decorating the tree.

Dragonfly: I listed to TSO on the way in to work this morning. :-)

Elrohwen: OMG bunnies under the tree! Can we have a pic? Tooooooooo cute sounding not to see!

It's too late for me to edit but I also want to add that we have this amazing fresh balsam candle from bath and body works that we've been lighting that is extremely festive. It fills our apartment with a light scent of Christmas tree, a lot if time I think tree scented candles can be overwhelming but this one is amazing! It will definitely cheer you guys up for the holidays everytime you smell it.

Check out the rabbit thread currently in hangout for a pic  I have some more, but I need to size and edit them a bit. Hopefully this weekend I can post them on the Christmas pet photos thread.

Purselover, I'm curious - what is holiday wine? Is it special flavored wine? Or a special holiday release? I'd like to get some of this stuff!

In my house, every bottle of wine is "special holiday wine". Hahaha

Lol.....we get ours from Brotherhood Winery in NY it's a spiced red wine that is delicious when warmed up and with cinnamon sprinkled over top! We have about a case left over from our wedding last year (it was part of our favors) because my mom bought enough for everyone we invited, but obviously not everyone rsvpd yes....not sure what she was thinking there but it worked out for us!

Purselover _ i have been burning welcome christmas from Yankee and the balsam one from woodwick. Yum!

Elrohwen: I looked over there. OMG OMG OMG! Way too cute. Should be your holiday card next year! I used to have a dutch bunny when I was a teen. Miss him.
And our holiday wine is the same type thing. We get it from Valenzano (or other local NJ wineries) and it is a spicy, apple based red, and we warm it up with the mulled spices it comes with.... So YUM!

I think I'm just a little bummed. We've both had to work a lot. I've had mandatory unpaid overtime and he put up all the lights outside and I couldn't help this week. We're supposed to get a decorate the tree tomorrow, but now he has to work.... just bummed. :-(

I actually work pretty close to that winery! We did a Hudson Valley wine tour a few months ago, but never made it down to that one (we stayed up around Marlboro). I'll have to check it out some time.
