Okay, I am not a LIW, but I'd want half for the ring and half for the wedding!
$35K honeymoon?Date: 10/1/2009 9:11:55 AM

Definitly the ring! But what if we had the choice for a $35k honeymoon? Now that would be a tough
decision!
(BTW - I''m not a LIW...I''m an old married fart)
A $35K honeymoon would probably include several months off of work and extensive world wide travel!Date: 10/1/2009 9:48:03 PM

Oh and if I only had the OP''s choices it would be the ring.
I second what trillionaire will do. I am too cheap to walk around with a 35k ring so I''ll take it buy a way cheaper ring and use the rest for a down payment on a house!Date: 10/1/2009 12:59:01 AM

If it was a contest, then the $35K wedding. I personally think that 35K for one day is a waste, but if it''s free, fine. That way I can elope and have a big party for my friends at no cost to me.
If I took the 35K ring, I would sell it, buy a reasonable ring (5-7K), then use the rest for our new home!
Hmm... now that I think about it, I guess I should take the ring... I want a house more than a wedding and big party!

If I *have* to pick between ring and wedding, definitely ring. I don''t even want a wedding. Just some quick vows to make it legal and then a party sometime later to celebrate with friends/family. But I''d be a nervous wreck with a $35k ring on my hand, that would take a LOT of getting used to!
If I could just have $35k I''d put some toward a new car and some toward my mortgage.
What would you pick, Dancing Fire?
I wouldn''t spend £35k on buying hundreds of people dinner either - that''s why I''m not doing it! I''m having 75 people max and I''m not getting railroaded into changing my plans for anyone!Date: 10/1/2009 10:13:48 AM

Definitely the ring. I didn''t care about having a big wedding - we had a small (12 people) destination wedding on a cliff overlooking the ocean in Bermuda. DH bought me an expensive ring, and I splurged on my dress, but I had no interest in buying hundreds of people dinner.
Oh I agree with this 100%, sadly no one else agreed with me about the wedding part. So you could almost say I am attending my own wedding somewhat against my will.
see that will be my problem I want like max 50 people but it will probably be triple that....

I'd take the ring over the wedding for sure. I don't have much interst in a massive expensive party. A massive expensive ring however....can be enjoyed everyday of your life
BF read this over my shoulder and said he's take a 35k car instead.
