Hello there!

The last time I posted I didn't get much response so hopefully I'm doing this right. I'm looking for a nice heart shaped diamond for an engagement ring. It will be set in a solitaire and want to stay in the .50-.65 range. I have a tight budget and so far this is the best diamond I have found for the price. I prefer a longer heart vs a chubby one. What do you think? Am I missing something?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Whays your total budget? I hope yiu consider setting it in a bezel. It really is the most flattering setting for a heart :)

Thanks for the feedback!

@LibbyLA: That means it will sparkle less I suppose? It seems really difficult to find a perfectly cut heart shape. I've worked with Blue Nile before but they don't have some of the things that JA has to offer like pictures which are important for me. I'm very visual. And finding a longer heart is even more of a challenge.

@nielseel: I have! I would LOVE their bezel setting but it's a minimum of .75 carats :(

As for budget I would like to stay as close to $1,000 as possible.

i would contact good old gold, see what they can find you for about 500. mor eif you can swing it.
then i would ask them if they could get this setting for a hear. it would be beautiful!

i think with a heart that size a bezel is key

ALSO i would contact id jewelry. ive seen them work amazingly on a budget

does it have to be a diamond???

@ nielseel: Sounds good. I didn't think Good Old Gold had a large selection of hearts because they only have one on their website. I'll look into it thank you.
That bezel is really pretty. I'm almost unsure I would like it as an engagement ring though. I prefer a classic setting because I get bored extremely fast. I prefer a diamond because I get bored of color haha

@ Enerchi: Those are so pretty. They seem to work more with colored diamonds though.

@ VRBeauty : That is gorgeous but more for a RHR than E-ring that I would wear.

Good old gold doesnt have any on there website because they specifically go out and find ones for your specs and budget :)

i would for sure ask id jewelry to find you a nice heart and setting. I thought you liked bezels, what about that one doesnt suite you? I think it looks super tiffanys

I think it is worth asking for an ASET image and gemologist opinion on it being eyeclean and light return.

@ nielseel: Oh okay that makes sense. I love that one from Tiffany's. I'm not sure what it is but other bezels I've tried on I feel my hand looks bulky. And I'm afraid I'll pay so much for the setting only to get bored.

That K doesn't pull up .. maybe it sold? I saw another K I really loved but I can be color sensitive. I'm not sure how I will like it. As far as the setting you're right maybe they can do it? I want to 100% make sure heart is right for me before pulling the trigger.

@Karl_K : I'm worried it's too shallow of a cut now.. I'm having second thoughts. BUT like you said it could depend on the diamond despite all of the specs.

Yeah I don't know it wouldn't look for me. Search for. K under 1000 and it should be the only one. It looks really bright!

@nielseel: I see it now! I couldn't figure out why it looks so chubby even though it has a longer ratio. Maybe it's the girdle?

I'm not sure. I just love chubby hesrts and pears and marquise. I think they look so much more flattering. It is personal preference though. I jist suggested it because its seems really bright and brilliant

Thanks so much! It does look very bright. Most do love chubby hearts. I love chubby marquise and pears. But for hearts I'm not sure whyI prefer a more elongated look.

I am also leaning towards either oval or radiant so I have some thinking to do. I change my mind like every week LOL

Oh yeah for sure try and narrow down a shape before purchase. I'd throw out a chubby pear into the mix too. Very similar to the heart look and they face up larg. Plus they're usually more selection. Or even an ew set chubby larquise would be lovely! So many options. Maybe try some on see what looks best on your finger

I've been trying for 5 years as crazy as that sounds! I've tried them all on and have already tried many rings. I've tried chubby pear and marquise but I just get bored. I've had a few different heart rings and never kept them so it might be a sign to try something new. My top favorites right now are radiant and oval... leaning more towards the radiant. Not sure which I love more! I know for sure I want a Tiffany style solitaire though.

I lnow the feeling. I love my pear but its still not unique enough me. Itll make a nice necklace lol.

I think an oval is the best bet. Faces up larger, which is good sense youre on a tight budget. Cant wait to see what you get.

I still say call idj. I've seen them make FANTASTIC rings on a budget

What don't you like about the pear? It's one of my favorite shapes and I've been admiring yours for a long time now haha
I guess because of the drop effect they make for lovely earrings and pendants.

I really like oval. I buy and re-sell a lot of rings, etc. and I just had an oval not too long ago that was lovely but I let it go. I'm not sure what was missing. I'm thinking I would've kept it if I really loved it. Not sure. Radiant is the only shape left on my checklist so I might give it a try.

I can't wait to finally keep a ring longer than 1 month ;)

dont get me wrong i love my pear. i love the shape and its really flattering to my finger. My want to change it has nothing at all to do with the ring, its the fact that, though i love diamonds for everything else, i need my e ring to be more unique. so it has to be a colored stone. Plus, i love three stones, and pears arent great for that.

Dont get me wrong, I love my ring, but i always wear it on my right hand. it doesnt say different enought to be "MY engagement ring"

I totally understand. What kind of 3 stone setting do you want? My original ring was a 3 stone and I grew to hate it. I chose it. I had total ring regret and it was too late to change. Then it was lost. So now I'm sticking to solitaire. The shape and size has been the biggest challenge for me. I'm hoping it will end if I try a radiant out. My next dilemma will be whether I want double prongs or single with a stone less than 1 ct.

Luckily I've had the same band for a while so at least half my set is right :)

Like this but in gold with a red stone center

Were just ladies who love options too much haha

That is absolutely stunning! What kind of red stone? I can't wait to see. I love rubies personally.

I guess so! Haha but the weird thing is I feel strongly about me only having 1 ring! It's the weirdest thing. I'm a weirdo!

Im having a lab ruby precision cut by precision gems,( shhh) but thats not allowed on ps so i dont think ill be able to share it   but itll be trying to get a pinterest trend going   . i dont know i love diamonds for everything else but it just doesnt feel like its "me" enough. The pear was the most unique diamond i could think of, who knows why it didnt work lol. Im a weirdo too so its ok. Have you tried an emerald cut yet?

Well I love lab rubies more than real ones! I love that they look a bit pink. I can't wait to see!!!

LOL That's my issue also. I want unique but still classic. I'm not a fan of rounds so anything that looks similar is a no go. Cushions look like rounds to me. Step cuts.. they are gorgeous. I love Asschers but they face up small. And I've tried on tons of emeralds and they just don't wow me.

Hmmvyou are a hars nut to crack! I'm not sure a heart is as classic as other shapes. I thnk I said it before but am e/w set marquise or oval might a be what youre looking for. And the marquise would take up a LOT of finnger coverage. Plus I'd you do some looking you can probably fond a nice cheap on on tje second and market. In a simple solitaire vezel would be classic but oh so different

@nielseel: Absolutely a hard egg to crack! LOL Speaking of eggs.. my husband seems to think any rounded elongated shape looks like an egg. So he will say "egg ring" to any marquise, oval or pear. I have no idea what shape is right for me or what I like most so I'm going down the list LOL

I love hearts for their uniqueness. Maybe one day I can add some heart detail to my ring Idk. I really do like ovals. There is a little voice in the back of my head that tells me they look too much like rounds for my taste or they don't have enough personality for me but it's a very little voice. The only shape I have left to try is radiant. I hope it works! If not I have no idea what I'm going to do.

I love the idea of a bezel but I don't know why it doesn't say "engagement ring" to me. I think it might be too modern looking for me. I love vintage looking rings and rings with character. But I get bored so solitaire is the way to go for me. That way I have options with different bands if need be. I have a reason to like and dislike every shape so it's makes the decision all the more difficult. I love the idea of a EW chubby marquise or oval. But if I'm going to have a longer shape I feel like I need to wear it the classic way to do the shape justice. IDK I'm a hot mess! I'm not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel yet but I have my fingers crossed! :) :)
