Hi Neilseel, I came across another diamond that you recommended with similar specs:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9964/

I like that the GOG is I color.. Could you say whether this or the Brian Gavin is a better overall choice?

Brian Gavin

I know this is getting repeptitive, but thank you again :D

I prefer the BG stone. The grading lab on the GOG stone is EGL, who are known to grade soft. It may SAY it's an I, but in reality it may be more like a J or K by GIA/AGS. So you're not really comparing apples to apples here. Plus the BG has the cool fluoro, and it faces up bigger than the GOG stone. For me, BG is the winner, so long as it is eye clean.

That BG blue is reserved by someone. I agree the EGL may have graded it differently, but when its way off Ive seen GOG do a color test of there own, doesnt look like its been done for that stone. We can talk about that picture all we like but i still think the best option is to call Good old Gold and have them pull the 3 stones and do a video of them. They will give you their honest opinion on the color and performance. They may even be able to pull you a different stone thats exactly what you want. They find ones that arent on there site for you if you need

The BG stone wasn't reserved when I posted. I am hoping the OP got it before a lurker grabbed it.

Oh I know I just didnt want the OP to think it was available. someone on another thread reserved it :)
but thats ok, I think GOG can find the right one for you

Still in the market, there's one you guys mentioned that I still got my eye on, and another that is a BG signature blue:

thoughts on this one? Going to see if he can send me some more pictures or maybe a vid of that stone. I actually wouldnt mind fluor as long as it doesnt take away from the beauty of the stone, and the vs1 clarity really appeals to me. Seems like a good price on the stone no

(have been thinking about putting more money into making a paved setting, and spending a tad less on the main stone, but if im really sold on one thats up to 9500~ i'll probably just do a basic solitaire)
