Hey everyone, I’m a new gemstone hobbyist. Like the title suggests, I’m looking for a blue/blue-violet emerald/cushion cut sapphire. I’ve seen reviews regarding CeylonSapphireGems on IG. Wondering if anyone here has another vendors to suggest? Would be good if they do setting as well!

Thank you guys

Starlanka are probably my favourite setters ever. I’ve bought and set a few things from them so if you need any pics let me know.

They will provide additional photos and videos. Ask for natural light videos and you can also request the stone be sent to any lab that you like (at your cost).

Hey there! Thanks for that! Just viewed and unfortunately the per carat price is a little steep :( would you have any other vendors to recommend? As for setting, just looking to do a simple trilogy so nothing fancy :) thank you!!

You don't say what size, colour or treatment you're after, so I'm just shooting in the dark.

Yvonne has a sale currently but it ends soon. And can make you a banger of a ring.

Haven't shopped from Adamant previously, but they've been highly recommended: https://www.adamantgems.com/collections/available-gems/Sapphire

Finewater has this: https://www.finewatergems.com/store/p360/1.54_ct_Blue_Sapphire.html

As for IG, I've seen people here successfully shop from GemOcean and HiGems.

Ahh my bad! Looking for L8.5-10mm x W5-6mm! Wouldn’t mind heated but not BE.

I’ve bought a pink sapphire from a retail store previously and paid $5k for a 1.3ct this seems to be the average price for retail store so I’m not even sure if it’s possible to find something around the specs within my budget!

Hmmm, are you sure about this shape? It's going to be quite elongated and very susceptible to half-half extinction.

Honestly just looking for something rectangular as I’ve only purchased rounds so far! Would you happen to have any recommendation? Looking at something similar to this for the end result!IMG_5705.jpeg

You can stick with rectangular just fine, just... 10x6mm is quite elongated. Usually the ratio is closer to 10x8, 9x7, 8x6. If you want something in the 5-6mm range for width, you're looking more at 7-8mm of length.

The thing is, your budget would do fine if you stick to the preferred width and go down slightly on the length. But for the opposite... a 9x7mm stone is somewhere around the 3ct mark, and even if you were to double your budget, it might still not be enough to find something in this size.

If I notice something nice, I'll post a link.

I see! I don’t mind if it’s a shorter length as long as it still looks more rectangular as compared to a square. Thank you so much :)

Where are you based? IG is a can of worms -- the gems are often about as accurately represented, visually, as the women influencers of IG :lol-2:, although there are reliable vendors. I don't think I have ever seen an unappealing gem on IG.

As @Avondale says above, cushions will tend to be square-ish (not long and skinny) and step cuts (emerald cut) with the proportions you like will be much more expensive (lots of waste).

Looks like you're in good hands, OP! Just wanted to welcome you to the forum and wish you much luck in your sapphire journey!!

I’m based in Singapore! Haven’t gotten much luck with the retailers here :(
