Hello All!
In the short time I''ve been coming here, I''ve come to appreciate your opinions, and am counting on your assistance now.
I purchased a 1.75 carat pear shaped tanzanite from JT that was a dark blue/violet, and while I like the color, I found that the cut let alot to be desired. At the time though it was the right one for my son, who was looking for a stone of this type to use to create an engagement ring for his long term girlfriend. He''s a college student, so we need to watch costs closely (I''m on a disability pension, but am able to work from home some on my computer), but now I''d like to find a matched pair, pear shaped, about 1 carat size to make into a pair of earrings, and then one more, also pear shaped, for a pendant, about a 2 carat size, to create a "set" for her.
This time though, I''d like to find stones that are really blue, with the only suggestion of the violet being the red "flashes" in the stone. While I don''t need a "perfect" cut, I would like a cut that someone would have to use a magnifier to see that it might be a little "off". Please forgive my lack of proper terminology here, but I''m learning..... albeit slowly.
What is considered to be "reasonable" in pricing? I''m leary of local jewelry stores..... with all the overhead they have, and would like to find an alternate method of searching for and finding these three stones. Can you offer me any advice please?
Thank you for bearing with an aged newbie!
