I think it look great on you! You have such a lovely figure! But more importantly, what do YOU think?

2.gif

Heh, figure''s not that great, but the dress certainly gives it the appearance. Thus I like the dress.
2.gif

Actually, I did really like this dress (although it was a bit snug). I tried on a size 10 and would probably order a 12 and then alter down.

I got home to check out eBay, and Lo and behold! ...this dress, size 12, new with tags... $69, no bids. Ends in 1.5 hours!!
6.gif

So I called my mom, my sister, my aunt and my friend, to make them all look at the dress and give me their honest opinion: is this dress flattering? Do you like it? Is it wedding-y?

Except for my mom''s lackluster response (see earlier comments
20.gif
), they all love the dress. A lot more than the previous dresses.

I''m bidding now. Cross fingers for me!! This dress is $599 brand new. Considering my microscopic budget, I''d really love to get a dress for under $100 shipped.

fingers crossed,
let us know what happened!
I LOVE your ring by the way. I need to tell you again how totally thrilled I am for you!!

OMFG you guys...

I WON THE DRESS!! $79 with shipping, and I have a wedding dress!!!!!

That dress is very pretty, but honestly, I like the first two better. I think strapless might work better for you. I''m not exactly sure what it is..but it doesn''t seem quite right to me.

Ohhh, congrats GG!!!! I got a really great deal on my dress too, and it just feels sooo good, doesn''t it?? :)

I think it looks wonderful on you, it''s my fav of the three you''ve posted. I actually tried your dress on at David''s and I loved it!!! It feels good on, doesn''t it?

Congratulations on a beautiful dress and a FANTASTIC deal!!

Well, you''d be the first person to say so, so I''m curious as to why if you can figure it out. I like strapless, but wasn''t looking exclusively for a strapless dress. I didn''t really want a halter, only because I think I can''t wear a necklace with a halter, and I didn''t want spaghetti straps, because I don''t like the way spaghetti straps looked... so it was "real" straps or no straps, for me.
2.gif

As for working on me... I have nice shoulders, so strapless did work nicely. But the V-neck is also very good for my frame, accents not only my shoulders but hints at cleavage, too.
31.gif

Here are some other dresses I tried on that day, for visual reference.

This dress was flattering because of the cut, the waist nipped in at just the right spot and the split skirt visually made me smaller... but I didn''t really like the dress.

This dress (c''mon, everybody has to try on THIS dress!!
9.gif
), while pretty, didn''t move me at all. It was simple and elegant, but it felt more like a prom dress. I didn''t like that it couldn''t be bustled. And I didn''t like that the fabric was so thin you could see my belly button THROUGH the dress AND the padded bustier I''m wearing. Hello?? I''m not going to suck in like my life depends on it so I won''t get a belly button in all my wedding photographs!!
20.gif

I think the V-neck makes my arms look more shapely, too.
10.gif

Thanks, everybody! It''s a relief to have this part of the planning done and paid for!
9.gif
HOUmedgal, you''re absolutely right... the pic in David''s catalog does NOTHING for this dress. In fact, when I told the lady I wanted to try it on, my friend "euw''d" it.
2.gif
(She''d also euw''d a few other dresses that looked awesome on, although I decided I didn''t like them enough to make them contenders.) When I put it on, she said, "Okay, I am just going to have to start trusting your judgment. That dress looks amazing!!" It is so beautiful and flattering in person!
30.gif
30.gif

Actually, the more I see myself in that dress, the more I really feel it: This is my WEDDING dress!!!
30.gif
30.gif

It is classically styled (a concern of mine), has simple lines, just enough decoration to be interesting, and will fit nicely in with my "organic/elegant" wedding temperature. And most importantly, this dress made me feel like a BRIDE.
5.gif

Now if I can just find a great photographer at a price I can live with, I might actually feel like this wedding is really gonna happen!!
10.gif

GG ~ I LOVE that dress on you!!!! So glad you found such a great bargain!!! Seriously, I think the lines are very flattering - accentuates & elongates your waist and body. And... on the very off chance you end up finding something that you like better, then you are out less than $100. But I don''t think that''ll happen, it just looks terrific!

Exactly.

I haven''t found any dresses that I LOOOOVE, that give me the warm fuzzy "OHMIGOSH THAT''S MY DRESS" feeling, even while looking through hundreds of pics online. So nothing that I HAD to wear in order for me to feel right.

I''m not going to keep looking, but if I come across a dress that makes me feel that way, I''ll just relist this one on eBay. I''ll just hold off on alterations for a while, and then there will be no problems at all!

what a fantastic deal!!!!

36.gif
I still like the first dress better on you, but if you feel right in this one, it''s the one!!

I absolutely love the dress you chose. I think the v-neck and real straps are very flattering. I also like the diagonal beading. You look good in the others too, but I think you look best in the one you choose. The strapless ones were a bit plain.....It seems like that''s the most popular wedding dress style these days and I know there''s great strapless dresses out there.....but in the last 4 weddings I''ve been to I felt like the brides wore the exam same dress. LOL It''s nice to see a design that''s a little different -- and it also suits you better.
1.gif

And how amazing to get such a deal on Ebay! Now you have more money to spend on your SHOES.
2.gif

GG the beading on the bodice makes your waist look very tiny!!! I think there also might be room for a shorter necklace, but I''m sure you can experiment with that. I agree with ellewoods --- your fantastic ebay find will allow you to pick up some fabulous accessories to go with the dress!!!
31.gif
Have fun with the next step!!!

The dress is my favorite of all the ones you tried on! I really wanted the one with the red on it. Before i got engaged I thought it was what I would get....um, nope. You dont always end up getting what you imagine. Glad you got such a deal!

Oh GG, how exciting!
36.gif
Welcome to the "I bought my wedding dress on eBay club!"
2.gif

As soon as I saw the pic of you in the dress you chose, I got excited...hoping that you''d like this one. It''s so flattering on you--I love the diagonal beading! But when I saw that you found it on eBay...for under $100, no less...I was thrilled!
9.gif
Sounds like it was meant to be.
2.gif

I like this one the best of any you''ve tried on...by far. And what a deal! It''s even more fun that you don''t have to wait around long for it to arrive. Be sure to post pics of you in your dress when it comes in!

You look so beautiful in your dress!
face23.gif

Wow, I definitely like that one on you better than ANY of the strapless ones! It makes you look so sleek and hourglass-shaped! Congratulations! It looks like "the one" to me! It is BY FAR that most flattering one on you!

Ooooooh! Congrats on your great deal! That dress looks great on you....very flattering and really shows off your figure. The lines of the dress are very elegant...it''s def my favorite on you! How long is the train?

GG, the dress you bought looks stunning on you and its my favorite as well!! Where it in good health and have fun with the rest of your planning!!

I agree that the dress you bought looks the best on you. I wasn''t a big fan of the strapless dresses you posted. Not sure why, but none of them made me say "that looks incredible on you!" I think the one you got is gorgeous! I love the diagonal beading and it does flatter your a lot more than the strapless ones did. Congrats on getting the hardest part of planning out of the way!

Sorry, I''m a little late to post but I love the one you bought on ebay and WHAT A DEAL!!!
You have a tiny little waist and midsection and the dress really showcases that. Great buy!
Congrats!
36.gif

I definitely think that dress is very flattering - much more than any of the strapless numbers. And at $79 - what's not to like? I paid $149 and to me that's better than wearing my dream gown of $3000. I say you done good, sista.

I''m so sorry! I feel bad now. I didn''t realize you had already bought the dress when I said that. I mean. I guess I was just being honest.. but I still feel a little bad. Like I said before.. it is a pretty dress. I think the reason I didn''t like it as much as the others, is it seemed the others, especially the first one, and the one you posted after your dress, defined the difference between your bust and your waist a lot better. It might just be the first of the dress you tried on, and perhaps getting the bigger size and having it altered will define it a little better.

Aw, MS, don''t feel bad.
1.gif
You were nicer than my mom, at least. I think if I can buy a dress that SHE''S badmouthing and not get offended, you''re beyond safe.
2.gif

Ginger, here''s a pic of the back (my friend doesn''t take the best photos, but you get the idea); I think it''s chapel-length? The best part about the back is, the inverted V has more beads and rhinestones, so if I do an under-bustle it''ll look AWESOME!

I''ll get more pics when MY dress comes in!
