This is 2.21 cts around 8mm.
What type of gemstone is it?

ETA
Sorry, I just noticed that you wrote above it that it is a tourmaline.

Kismet,
Major closeups needed. Can you give us more details on each stone? Size, carat weight, origin, etc.

Here is a sapphire in a color not seen very often. This stone is 2.05 cts. It is 8.5mm

Let''s see... sizes... The mm sizes are all guesstimates since I don''t have that info here at work. I also don''t have any origin info here. I do know that the rubelite, tsavorites & aquamarine were cut by Ben Kho though. :)

The rubelite is 2.17 carats and is about 8 - 8.5mm square
The tsavorites are 2 carats total and are about 6mm
The zircon is 1.21 carats and is about 5-6mm
The aquamarine is 2.something carats (the writing got rubbed off) and is about 6x12mm
The green beryl is 4.8 carats and is about 10-11mm
The pink/peach tourmaline is 2.98 carats and is about 8mm
The garnet is 3.97 carats and is about 7x9mm
The spinel is 1.42 carats and is about 4x6mm
The green chrysoberyl is 1.19 carats and is about 4x6mm
The yellow chrysoberyl is 3.94 carats and is about 8mm

This last one can't hold a light to those copper bearing tourmalines but for plain ole indicolite this is a sweet one. 8.95 cts.
I just love LOVE LOVE

that indicolite. It's really hard to find nice indicolites these days with open colour like that.

I also adore Chrono's collection of tourmalines. Very beautiful. You have an excellent eye for gemstones.

Yummy eye-candy everyone! Kismet, I would also love to see closeups of all your pretties! twodoor2, love your collection as well! Let me just go wipe this drool off my laptop now....hee hee.

I love everyone''s taste!! I especially love Chrono''s impeccable taste in finely cut stones. Now I think Chrono is going to increase my standards in cutting!!!

I know it''s in a ring, but I recently had this set after looking at it in a box for eons.

My mandarin, 4 ct.

I second the request for close-ups of your collection monarch. From what I can see they look very impressive.

Thet spessartite ring is quite nice also twodoor.

I took some pics one of my blue spinels and thought I''d post a few pics. A little on the specs first.

It is 13.90x11.95 by 8.3mm deep and is 10.44 cts

hello! lovin this thread.

Wow, "ColorMyWorld" that''s an enormous spinel. What is that gorgeous stone doing loose?? You need to get that in a piece of jewelry as soon as possible, preferably with diamonds around it.

It is probably sad sitting in a box

Wow, colormyworld - what a beautiful spinel. Very nice color.

Twodoor, I love your spessartite ring.

Colormyworld,

That spinel is stunning and needs to be in ring soon!

My Madagascar pink tourmaline, 1.62 ct. 7.7 mm.
Flower shaped round brilliant cut.
The colour is slightly orangey, medium dark pink piece.

My plan is to set it in a pendant with the following aqua stone. The flower will be set above the dangling aqua.

My very first concave gemstone (but not the last
27.gif
)
Fancy pear shaped concave cut aquamarine. I am sure this has been heat treated.
2.59 ct. 8.3 x 12.1 mm
The colour is medium, very slightly greenish blue color.

Twodoor2,
I'm glad to be rubbing of my picky cutting tastes to you.

You have a gorgeous Spess ring. It's huge!

CMW,
Thanks for posting more pics of your blue spinel.
Going to get my drool bucket and a mop to clean up my mess.

Work has been majorly busy so I''ve only had time to take close-ups of 3, but 3 is better than nothing, right?

This first one is my vanadium chrysoberyl. It''s a lovely, lovely seafoam green. Unfortunately it''s a bit windowed so it''s a stone I''m considering having recut but I''m not sure if it''s worth it since it''s rather small. It''s 1.19 carats and about 4x6mm.

kizchrysoberyl.jpg

Second is my rubelite tourmaline. It''s a lovely bright pink-red color. It does have fairly major inclusion but doesn''t really detract from the stone. It''s 2.17 carats and about 8mm square.

kizrubelite.jpg

Thirdly, is a "Tanga" garnet. I''m having a hard time getting a good shot of the red color but it''s a really nice deep red. This stone is 3.97 carats and about 7x9mm or a bit bigger.

kizgarnet.jpg

And here are all 3 on my hand.

Awesome stones, Kismet. I can''t believe you are calling a 1ct gemstone small...

Heh, I suppose it isn''t really. But compared to my other stones, which tend to be larger, it is.
