LS, this seems like an emergency to me! I honestly do not understand how they can make you wait another week and a half. If it gets worse, can you go to a hospital emergency room????
Scared sh*tless now that it''s so close....and I''ve already had ONE brain surgery...Date: 1/5/2009 12:09:47 PM

Totally understandable. PS dust for you, tons and tons!
But at least you''ll know, you know?
I understand exactly where you are coming from. If my heart hasn''t healed by April [and at last check it hadn''t] then I am looking at a second heart surgery. All we can do is stay strong and have faith that everything will be okay. The good news is that hopefully by Wednesday you will know what you are dealing with and can make decisions from there. Stay positive and know that there is a tremendous amount of PS dust coming your way. Plus lots of big hugs!Date: 1/5/2009 1:49:52 PM

Your prayers are working: the Neurosurgeons'' office just called to say they have a cancellation on Wednesday this week!

Maybe with the positive energy being created here, it will ''rub off'' on you too? It''s hard to be scared, isn''t it? I''m sorry to hear about your heart problems. What was the 1st surgery for?Date: 1/5/2009 3:19:57 PM

I had a mini-stroke last February and after a lot of testing they found I had a hole and floppy wall between the atrial chambers of my heart. It allowed unfitered blood to go to the brain, and if you have any kind of clots can cause a stroke. Last April I had a device inserted in my heart to shore up the wall and close the hole. I had some complications that I''ve finally recovered from but at last check in October the hole was still open. If it doesn''t close after a year then either a second device will have to be inserted on top of the other device or I''ll have to have open heart surgery to take out the old device and build up the wall and close the hole. Apparently the instance of stroke is 4x as much if the hole doesn''t close on it''s own so something will definitely have to be done. I do understand about not wanting a second surgery. Let''s hope that dust rubs off on us both!Date: 1/5/2009 9:36:40 PM

It must be very difficult to live on a day-to-day basis wondering if it''s working or not. I would find that very stressful and difficult to handle.....like living on the ''edge'' of a surgery all the time. So much easier IMO to just know they FIXED IT!Date: 1/5/2009 11:16:29 PM

Sending out hugs and prayers to you both LS and M
LS- that is fantastic news that the cancellation has got you an appt now!
It''s the "am I going to have another stroke today" thoughts that can get you down. It can be stressful but I take my meds like a good little girl and I tell my heart every morning.............grow damn scar tissue, GROW!Date: 1/6/2009 5:55:21 AM
