Loupes

Hello All,

Can anyone tell me what strength loupe is good for a "casual observer" of diamonds etc. I''ve been looking at them and there are 10X, 20X etc., some have lights built in some don''t. Can you shed any light?

10x is fine for most purposes. I bought inexpensive ones on ebay.

I have the BelOMO Triplet Loupe and highly recommend it as a low cost loupe.

There are some good deals to be had on Amazon as well. I got a trio of loupes (10, 20, and 30x) for less than $10. They''re definitely not top of the line but good enough for me to be able to ID my diamond
