Well I joined this site back in 2010 I was a new mom and 20 years old, I was anxious to get engaged and was obsessing over the Tiffany novo. Well here I am almost 3 years later and I'm not engaged but there's been major improvements. I'm no longer obsessing over the Tiffany novo and we have begun ring "shopping". On Saint Patricks day my boyfriend surprised me and took me to Marisa perry (I've been dying to visit this store). I tried on some rings and I'm on the fence between a cushion cut diamond in a halo or a round in a cushion cut halo. His budget is 7k and I want to find a happy medium between size and quality, what do you ladies like best and why? We have an appointment to see some loose diamonds on Thursday. WISH ME LUCH

I think both will be lovely so I have no opinion on that . What type of round would you get? Would you get a OEC or a round brilliant? What type of metal?

Thank you for link! It would be a round brilliant cut, I've always loved the cushion stone but was shocked at how beautiful the round diamond looked in the cushion halo setting. Our consultant told me that a cushion is also a less expensive stone so I'm looking into that so i can make the best decision not just based on what looks prettiest.

How exciting to be ring shopping. I think your idea to get a RB in a cushion halo sounds lovely. There are some beautiful examples here in the SMTB section that you could look thru for inspiration. I'm confident for 7k you will find a beautiful ring.

I think cushions might be generally less expensive per carat but they also face up smaller than RBs. They do look very classic in halos though. Rocky Talky might help you find the right stone if you need help.
