I wanted to upload a little bling fun for another dreary day....I wish the picture quality wouldn’t degrade so much so people could see the comparison to the 5 stone diamond band I just got. I was going to get a moissanite version if I couldn’t find one on ebay for a reasonable amount. These are not ideal cut diamonds but they are eye clean, sparkly and H in color. I have never liked the 7 stone baguette band I had made to go with the elongated cushion from SG. There is nothing wrong with the band itself but I would definitely not recommend moissanite bands made out of baguettes because they have zero sparkle. IRL the diamonds match up to both the ACC and the modern RB perfectly.
I also had the ACC sized and had no problems with the local jeweler about it not being anything other than PT950 and solid (not hollow or plated).

My OEC from Starsgem is on page 1. I thought it was pretty.
I had missed your OEC although now I look at it, it's one of the ones I saw when you first posted it and thought ooh yes they do do realistic and pretty OECs. I like Lucky_Rabbit's one as well.My OEC from Starsgem is on page 1. I thought it was pretty.

Thanks for the reminder! what size ring and stone is your one? It looks pretty substantial
Hey, does anyone have experience with pear cuts for Tianyu vs SG? I’m interested in more of an antique cut, I think (but crushed ice also seems neat). Also, since pears are known to shown a bit more color, is it better to go with a whiter stone? I’m probably going with rose gold, if it matters. Thanks.
Thought I would add a few updates since it has been awhile on this thread.
I got one of my rings today from SG but didn’t have a chance to take a lot of pictures yet. I still have a lot of ‘pending’ rings being made with SG’s stones and I am hoping my EC with trapezoid’s and miligrain/hand engraving is ready in the next 2 weeks. I am also redoing the elongated ACC with an 11x9 and diamond tapers with a jeweler because it is still my favorite moissanite stone and to me looks the most like a diamond so I am going to invest some extra money in doing a higher quality version of that one. It will be paired with a diamond 5 stone I picked up on ebay in white gold and redone in platinum to go with the ACC.
I was expecting 2 rings today but SG incorrectly sent me someone else’s oval. I am still waiting to see what happened with shipping but they were trying to crank out a lot of orders before their holiday. I received the yellow moissanite 8x10 three stone ring in Platinum. Price was somewhere in the $600 range. The stone photograph’s a bit more yellow than it looks in person. The saturation is even throughout and it doesn’t look green tinted like some of the pictures. I would describe it as a more yellow champagne color or very warm diamond color but without the brown tint. I will add a few more pictures in daylight tomorrow....
I am still waiting now on my 11x9 oval brilliant with pear side in 14K yellow gold. Hopefully it is not lost!
This is the one I am waiting on:
This one is getting redone with diamond tapers and a larger ACC. I am going to change the style of the band a bit and do a hidden halo underneath but overall it will still look similar because it is the most comfortable and my fav...!

Of course you know that your favorite is also my favorite too but I have to say that I am gushing over that Oval/Pear ring also! So pretty!! I would be dying if it was lost.. I hope that it shows up soon for you! You have to post pics here for us when it does! I noticed that your pre-form cast doesn't have double prongs, is that something that they do after before setting the stone??
I think that I need to have someone else order my stones for me! I have had NO LUCK ordering stones from China! Both of my first 2 orders have gone 'BUST' on the stones I ordered..
I heard back from SG and they still have my oval/pear so they are mailing it today. I should have it by Monday. My ACC just arrived in Sweden so that project is also getting started. My stepson started a jewelry company so I am able to get some of the better pieces made for a really good price.
I am sorry to hear about your other projects. Are you not happy with the cross ring that you received? I know you didn’t care for the radiant cut. I haven’t been impressed with the radiant cut videos I have seen. I still think the elongated ACC, H&A’s and some of the OEC’s have been the best so far....
I didn’t see your thread. Can you link it? I am surprised but I am not sure what you ordered. I prefer the ACC’s & ovals from SG but the rounds and OEC’s from Tianyu. Both of them are getting overwhelmed now. If you have something you don’t Ike, I would try to resell or you can even send it back for a refund with the slow post. I think it is less than $20 but it can take around 6 weeks. Not ideal but it is something. I prefer getting them set in a ring already because they never look as good loose.Thank you! Yes I am pleased with the Cross ring and am grateful that it turned out well, just didn't appreciate being asked to pay more money for it "AFTER" it was completed. I cannot say the same for the stones that I have received though. To think that I have spent $300.00 USD on stones that were supposed to be DEF Colorless when they are not and you can visually see that they are not, is very depressing to say the least. I am glad that so many others have had good experiences with SG but mine is not turning out to be a good one. I am shocked..You should read my SG Stone thread...
Cant wait to see the new ACC Ring and the Oval once you get them!

It looks fantastic in YG! Remind me, what color did you get the stones in, GH?So I got my oval w/ pears from Starsgem on Monday. This is the first ring that I have received with the 11x9 stones since the other two went straight to Sweden to be made in some higher quality rings. At first I was a little startled by how big it looked but within a day it looked more normal in size to me. Looks a bit more blingy when I pair it with my gold bezel band.
I am also trying to get used to the yellow gold as I only have one ‘two toned’ gold ring but the top is white so it just looks different. I have been stuck on platinum for the last 15 years. The quality of the setting is really good. I like my bands pretty thick and heavy and this one is. The oval is well cut with no obvious bow tie in the center although it does have a bit of a dark center in some lights (similar to the round cut I have). In daylight, it actually looks like a ‘K’ colored diamond because of the yellow gold. I think because of the size, the color is reflecting back on the stone. Compared to the round from Tianyu and the elongated ACC, I feel like this one looks more obviously like a moissanite. Nothing wrong with that but just an observation. Something fun to switch out but I still like the modern round and the ACC’s a bit better just from a personal choice perspective. I find them to be the most versatile.
Pictures in a bunch of different light settings:
Yep....G/H. I am getting used to it a bit more. It has a nice soft warm glow to the stone. It doesn’t look like an ugly yellow but just a warm stone most likely due to the size of the face reflecting the gold color back. It looks a little whiter in pictures and this one looks best in the sunlight. Some of my other ones look a little dead in sunlight so it is a nice change. It looks fantastic in YG! No problem asking for some feedback. I ordered my elongated ACC’s from SG instead of Tianyu because they do the long thin culet. Tianyu has a larger culet and it just wasn’t the look I was going for. If you email Starsgem, you can send it directly to Cherry Zheng at [email protected]. Just let her know very specifically what you are looking for and try to include some pictures or if you like how mine is cut, you can use my pictures to show her the style. I think with the long thin culet, it looks the most diamond like and I prefer to get my stones in G/H color because I don’t like them stark white. I personally think it would be the best color choice if you are going for rose gold.Long time lurker and first time poster here I'm putting together a ring similar to your tapered baguette with ACC and wanted your feedback (if you don't mind) on ordering the ACC from Starsgem. I have so much riding on this, I'm afraid of messing up the order getting a dud stone
Looking to get a 9x7mm elongated ACC in the F/G or G/H range and will have my jeweler probably* set it in rose gold. Any tips on ordering from Starsgem and what specs I should ask for? I've looked for photos, but only seem to find diamonds which I'm worried might hinder the beauty of the moissanite itself.
Also, any advice from anyone about Starsgem is also greatly appreciated!
I think you will be happy with the stone from SG. My personal preference for this stone is platinum, but it is really up to you and what you want. Don’t worry about threadjacking as it is nice to keep all the projects with SG all in one place. Thanks so much for your prompt feedback! I was comparing the stones with TianYu, and your ACC was exactly what I was looking for . Now that you mention the culet comparison, I think Starsgem is the route I'd want to go.
I initially was set on platinum and having SG make the setting like they did on your ring, but I was worried about it feeling chunky on my hand since I'm not used to wearing rings. Or much jewelry for that matter. So I found a local jeweler who makes thinner settings with a lower cathedral, which is what I think I like so the stone doesn't bang into things. When I saw their pink gold, I fell in love with the color and warmness it reflects on the stone. When I came back to look at your ring, I was second guessing my pink gold decision and your comment about the David Klass post reasserted my liking of the pink gold.
My jeweler quoted me $1500 for the 14k pink gold setting with conflict-free tapered baguettes. In comparison to Zales and other common chain jewelry stores, I think it's a decent price? But I'm also wondering if maybe I should solicit a quote from DK and maybe even Cherry? I'm unsure if SG can do such a low setting but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask?! I should probably make a separate thread so I stop hi-jacking this one haha

The setting I have sits very low. So low that any band I wear next to it is already meeting the prongs. The two things I don’t like on the band are the bits that stick up where the tapers meet and also not having the taper at the bottom of the ring. I am fixing those two things on this newer version. If you are happy with the pink/rose gold look and you want to get it done locally, I think that is still a good price. I know SG can do the rose gold but not the pink gold. They can make a setting any way you would like as long as you show them inspiration pic’s with multiple views. It really comes down to budget and what you are comfortable with. Trying to go through the CAD process overseas can be a little frustrating and it doesn’t work for everyone. I think you should still get a quote just so you have something to compare. I would think that DK would probably come in around the $1500 mark too for the rose gold but he has a much longer wait time.
I am definitely looking for something that flows a bit more organically this time. It was one of my earlier rings and I have refined my tastes more now. I saw versions on James Allen and Diamonds by Lauren that didn’t have the edges sticking up on the tapers that I liked a bit more. I am still stuck design and if I want to do hand engraving or not so I am playing around with a few different looks.Deep down I think I love the platinum too! I'm just trying to not kill my bf and stay within our budget. But if SG could somehow by miracle manage to replicate the setting I want in platinum, I might just be persuaded
Your annotations about the bits that stick up where the tapers meet and tapering the ring in the bottom are what I'd want for my setting. The jeweler has these photos online:
I like how the edges around the band part are smooth instead of squared and that the baguettes are actually smaller/daintier. I just emailed Cherry with photos of your CAD and stone and with the above ones as well so I'm crossing fingers to see what she says. I'm hoping they don't yes me to death and are honest about what they can and can't do. Either way, I'm still in love with their stones so I will at least be coming home with that!
If you don't mind me asking, but how much was your stone quoted? and how long was the process from placing the order, going through the CAD process and delivery of the ring? I couldn't thank you enough for your input!
