Okay, it''s official! I suck at this. I think I need to go take a graphic design course or something, or FONT GUIDANCE 101...

I really have a lot of respect for you ladies who make this look so easy. Maybe it''s time to buy a new computer one of these days...ugh!

Thanks again for all of your help!

Hmm...when I convert to picture, the quality gets a ltitle messed up. It looks much "cleaner" in powerpoint, so don''t worry about that..

WOW, Mandarine! Those are FABULOUS! Did you say you are doing these all in PowerPoint? You did a really nice job, thank you!

yes, just powerpoint and funky fonts

There is actually a "Hibiscus" font (I believe from dafont.com)...
If you want me to send this let me know. I think in order to see them as I see them you would have to download the fonts I used, but I could just tell you the names..

Harleigh, this might be a completley moot point now that you''ve gotten so many suggestions and instructions on how to make your own fantastic monogram...but PS admin got back to me and said there wasn''t any way to post a Word document. So I guess that is a no go for sending you the file??

Could we share files through Google documents? or is that the same as posting an email address?. I don''t think you post your e-mail address, just the link to the docs..

Does anyone know?

Thanks, April...you are too kind! I really appreciate your help. Actually, Happy has been gracious enough to help me out, so I will contact her when I get a better idea what I can work with!

I AM still determined to try on my own, but that just might not be in the cards for me! Thank you again!

I have no idea, M...I don''t even know how to do that, but you know I''m willing to try just about anything! Thanks for all of your help!

I know when I save Adobe Illustrator files as a PDF, it gives me the option to keep it "editable." I'm not sure what other programs allow that, but someone with Illustrator (or other program that works like that) could click an uploaded PDF (or other uploaded file that remains editable) that was created by another person in Illustrator and change it/use it. (I think. It's a theory

And it''s a brilliant one, sera! Now, how do we make that work???

If you''re still wanting to make a rubber stamp for your monogram, check out impressrubberstamps.com. I haven''t ordered yet but I will in the next month or two. I''m stamping cocktail napkins for the reception and then embossing the monogram on the front of my invitation pocketfolds.

Thanks, Murr! That''s a fantastic idea! I''ll be sure to check it out!

How would rubber stamping on napkins work? I had never thought of that....

I might give it a try :)

Here''s the monogram I made for FI and I. I use CorelDraw 9 as my software. I traced letters off and just did placements till they looked right and then did all the bending round each other bits. It did take a few evenings to do though!

I''m stamping them on my favours with fabric stamping ink - I found a place in the UK that will do custom stamps for about $50. You can definitely emboss napkins - you can get really nice inks on ebay.

That''s fab pandora! Is Corel Draw easy to use? If so, I might have my contact over at Corel send me a copy!

If you like vector-based designing it's ace. I used to use Adobe Illustrator etc and found it a bit tricky to switch over, but now I love it. I have version 12 as well, but for some reason I feel more comfortable with 9.

I'm totally self-taught re design software, and found it quite easy, the Help section is pretty good if you get stuck. I haven't even begun to use it's full capabilities though - I so need to go on a course!

Thanks Pandora...I am not sure I know what vector based designing is, but I think I have an idea. I might ask for a copy...thanks!

Basically it''s lots of points (nodes) joined together by lines. You can curve, straighten and bend the lines. I tend to import design ideas via jpeg and then trace bits off (takes a bit of time).

Vectors can be increased and decreased in size with no loss of detail or definition. You could design something 10cm by 10cm and then enlarge to 1 mile by 1 mile and it will look exactly the same. There''s no pixillation - just really clean lines.

Yup, that''s what I thought Pandora, thanks. I remember always working with vector graphics when I did some basic newsletters because they sized so well.
