Happily yes, I bought it! Its from a different vendor who I found randomly. They have lots of nice stuff but nothing else opalescent. Though this one is pretty cool. They call it "smoky"

A pink/lavender spinel like the ones on the first page, but I would call this cloudy or sleepy, rather than opalescent.

I’m a spinel junkie, so I have @Freke to thank for that because I never liked them until she made me see their true beauty.

I also have this weird violet tourmaline with a blue flash coming out of it at one point (upper right in photo). I’m not sure if that’s from a fracture splitting the light, or what????

Stone arrived today! Man these are sooo hard to get good pics of. I can't capture what I see IRL. it's both saturated and glowy/soft. Tried my best with pics but they just dont quite get it right. I'll try to take more in the next few days

It's such a unique stone! I do love it, but wish I had been fast enough to grab one of the *slightly * more opalescent ones.

Okay so definitely don’t want to hijack this thread @lovedogs but I just saw these to die for opalescent sapphires - the two light blue ones on the biggest and smaller ruby pin and how fun are the color combinations...this is more an opalescent gem appreciation post because I certainly don’t have 11k for hair pins laying around! But if I did...I would snag these!

I haven't decided about metals or overall design though I have a few ideas. I am going to wait until I have both stones and then try to figure out potential designs. Thinking that I might have either Daniel M or DK make it
