Change of subject: I would like to draw everyones attention to the photo Kerbear posted...does anyone know its orgin? Everyone look at it...it has been photoshoped. Don''t be offended, as I love the design myself...but I don''t think the ring actually exists. What was photoshoped or cropped out? Was the diamond a different shape? If you can''t see what I am referring to, look at the cross bar of the basket...see the gray sqiggly paint line? What was there? Whomever photoshoped didn''t have much skill with the computer program... but has an incredible eye for ring design. I love that head and scale. So, any one know who did it? Again, no offense intended...actually I am expressing kutos for the design. And then attemping to search out the ring for my project. Oh, my apologies for the hijack.

DKS

you are 100% correct..a little microsoft paint anyone??

Found it...guywithrings story
here

Sorry, here''s the picture I tried to post....lets see if this works! But I think the one in Michael C. Fina was a cushion, not a asscher.

Oh I almost forgot! My boyfriend is coming to visit me this week, and we''re going ring browsing. Yippee, hooray, yippee, hooray!
36.gif
I''m sure I''ll go back to Michael C. Fina so I will give you an update on the Daniel Ks I try on. I am also trying to figure out what other stores to go to......I want to go to some traditional (read = overpriced) stores first to kind of shock my boyfriend into the high prices. Then when we go to the diamond district and have an appointment with one of the PS vendors I''ve found and I am really interested in.....he may breathe a sigh of relief and see things aren''t so expensive as he might fear. And then maybe start planning everything and then I can have my own pretty shiny by Spring! Here''s to wishful thinking!
19.gif

If anyone has any suggestions about any places to visit in New York City....either traditional stores or independent places, or places in the diamond district, I''d really appreciate it. I already know I don''t want to go to Tiffany''s because we''ve been there before and I know I don''t like any of their designs. I''m not a solitaire girl and I want some pave!
41.gif
So I know the quality is excellent, etc. but my boyfriend already knows I want something more unique so I don''t want to waste our time at Tiffany''s.....knowing he has a short attention span when it comes to diamonds anyway and the longer I prolong the diamond browsing day, the more he''s going to get annoyed and command that I don''t talk about rings anymore!

Daniel K split crown asscher.jpg

Oh I''m sorry! Hee hee! That picture is WAY too small to see anything!

Anyway I think I''m talking about the Rosebud, which I wasn''t too interested in until I saw it in person at Michael C. Fina last weekend. I''d post another picture from Pearlmans but I think someone already posted it.

ellewoods,

thank you thank you for sharing your experience. I know seeing them in person is the only way I''m going to know anything. unfortuntely no one in my area carries daniel k so i''ll have to wait until my trip to pearlman''s. some trip that will be. I''m just hoping one of them will speak to me
20.gif
i honesly love so many settings i don''t know how in the world i''m going to decide but it''s sure fun trying
3.gif

elle, the tiny pic you posted looks like the split crown with a cushion...oh you will have so much fun ring shopping with you future Fiance..please do come back and report your findings
36.gif

Of course I will come back to Pricescope and spill everything about the browsing trip! Only 5 days! 5 days! And guess what it will be my birthday too!
36.gif
I''m hoping for a very indulgent selfish day. And honestly, I just want to go look at things and show my boyfriend what I like, and then I really want to let go of this obsession, you know? I just want to make it clear what I really like, and what I absolutely do NOT like. Then it''s up to him and I''m going to focus on other things that need more attention right now. But if some magic doesn''t happen in about....let''s say 4-5 months (when we will have been together 7 years) I might turn into a nasty troll or something!
23.gif

Why don''t you come to New York on a fabulous upgrade trip! You can catch a show, do some great shopping, and see all these rings in person! And maybe even go straight to Daniel K in person! Hee hee! Just kidding.

I''m sure Bill at Pearlmans will be awesome to work with. I just can''t get there because it''s too far from NY.

I''m sure you will find one that speaks to you. My problem is finding the one that speaks the loudest! Ha ha!
31.gif

Oh also on a PS......part of the getting engaged sometime soon (in the next 6 months I''m hoping).....is also my lifelong dream of getting the dog of my dreams! I cannot wait to get my sweet little doggie, and be able to put a bow on him and dress him up! I am very happy my boyfriend has agreed on my choice of dog.....although he says no chihuahua''s, no way. Boo!

Anyway have you seen this pic? I forgot whose it is, but it was someone on Pricescope who had a darling Chihuahua. Her then-boyfriend proposed with the ring tied to the dog''s collar! Check the sweetie out, he is SMILING! How precious!

I can''t wait to hear about your day of shopping ellewoods and on your birthday too??? How fun. Maybe you can scope out some rings for mrssalvo too. Does Daniel K have his own store in NYC???

Oh its too big!
33.gif
I don''t know how to make it smaller.

Well Daniel K is located in NYC supposedly, but I emailed them and asked if they have their own store and they did not say yes or no. I really don''t think he does. They told me to go look at Jacob & Co. if I wanted to see Daniel K. rings. But they''re available at some other NYC stores too, for example I saw them at Michael C. Fina. I wish they had their own store though! Or if they do I wish they told me about it!
41.gif

I don''t want to hijack the thread but ElleWoods, what kind of dog did you decide on?

Mrssalvo,

You''re just the greatest thing since sliced bread!
36.gif
How do you do it? How very thoughtful of you for finding that guywithrings post of the cartier photoshop. I so hope to be such an asset to this board...as you are!

I have four images of cushion ideas...but I can''t fiqure out how to post the images. I''ll get them on as soon as I can.

Thanks again-

I like #1 & #3. I love the split shank on #1. In my opinion split shanks look so pretty on the finger (Well, on mine they do, lol). and #3 is dainty.

Hi

Sometimes I wish that somebody can invent a gadget so that you can have more than one setting for your diamond. However the mood strikes you on a specific day you can just "pop" the diamond out and put it securely in another setting....

This is going to be a very hard and difficult decision for you.

So many beautiful settings, only one diamond

Did you see that James Allen is selling Danhov settings - here is the one similiar to Portia''s, I think? I just LOVE the setting...it is in my wish(ful thinking) folder.

Definitely #3 would look just stunning with a cushion cut. Simple, elegant, gorgeous!
9.gif

I like the delicacy of #3 for your petite fingers. Have you picked out your stone yet? And how big is it /will it be?

I adore #1 but my practical mind says it''s easier to wear a wedding band with #3, which is gorgeous too.

haven''t picked it out yet, if i do get a dreamy daniel k you have to by the stone with the setting. anyway, i really want someting in the 1.7-2 carat range. I''d like it to have the spread of a round 1.5..

i honestly don''t know how i remember that kind of stuff. his ring was the inspiration for a few others so i think it kept popping up for a while..

i would love to see the images, if you can''t figure out to post you can always email them to me, i''d be happy to post them

I love #3 and also #4, even though I know you are still deciding on that one.

Here is the Cream of the Cushion crop I have been growing for awhile: Since I am new to the photo post thing...I will post the top view and then follow with the profile shots....I have three rings I love, hope you do too...)

First the split shank top view...

Oh I hope this works!!

Hi Deco Delighted!

My heart has been forever stolen by Boston Terriers.
41.gif
I love them I love them! They are so spunky, and silly, and they act like big dogs in smaller dogs bodies. And they have some personal significance to me since I lived in Boston for several years, and was very close to one who was owned by a friend. I cannot wait to get one of my very own! That won''t happen for probably 8-12 months though. I can''t have a dog where I am right now. But once my boyfriend and I get to the same city and finally move in together, we''ll get my dog once I figure out my job situation. But I still talk about "my dog" as if I actually have one, or as if I''m getting one tomorrow.
41.gif
Our plan was for us to be moved in together in the same city as of this fall, and we''d get our dog now too. But the plans changed a bit so I have to wait longer.

I just heard than an aquaintence of mine recently got engaged, and her now-fiance proposed by puttng the ring on the collar of a new puppy. I told my boyfriend and he said "but don''t you want to be able to get them seperately on different days and enjoy them both individually?" And I said well maybe, but if I got both (the ring and the BT) on the same day, it would be the best day EVER!

I know I know, I am very easily amused.

Here is the feminine side view of drapey yumminess:

I''ve got it! Yippee!!

That is a gorgeous ring DKS!!!

This is of course a square stone...but it is very reminicent of the Rosebud detail under the stone...but wait...to follow is the side view....
pic1.jpg

pic3.jpg

Dont you just LOVE the side view?

those last few rings that were posted and that Danhov are just STUNNING. *mega drool*

pic1.jpg

but wait for the side...not so crazy about this side...it may be a tad out of proportion...but it is unique

pic2.jpg

to follow is the three ring option...

pic3.jpg

ohmygarsh! that is truly exquisite!
