The following rainbow mirror effect was captured near sunset while photographing my reset 1 carat RB diamond for a recent ''Show Me the Ring'' post titled Before, Almost & After: My New Setting!. I consider the lighting effect more of a lucky accident as opposed to those wonderfully creative shots of rings in frozen peas, in a freezer, on a shoe, etc. However, I didn''t post this pic in the other thread because I felt I posted too many pics as it were, so here goes it:

I had two other ideas for an ironic or unique photo, both of which I am too chicken to attempt. One would be a VERY scary (read stupid) shot of the ring sitting on the stopper of the sink -- open. That would send chills down every diamond-lover's spine, ha! Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to plug the drain and put the stopper back so that it looked like it was open. It seemed too risky, to say the least. The other idea I had was to fit the ring on a tapered candle and then light the wick. Might throw off some interesting light. Just one problem: I don't want to be cleaning melted wax off my brand new setting (which is what that picture I posted was of). Perhaps there should be a disclaimer on this thread — if your parrot chews your ring, if your dog mistakes it for a doggie treat and swallows it... PS is in no way responsible. LOL.

Come to think of it, that would be a funny and unusual way to propose! Slip it into some Special K or replace the Cracker Jack box surprise with a real treasure. (BTW, do they still sell Cracker Jacks? They used to sell them at movie theaters.) Of course, there's always the risk that one might have to have the bling dug out one's intestinal track! Yuck!
