Does this mean that my loose stones will be moved to another forums.?? Just asking, l have more stones, l would like to share them. l believe that I should be removed from the forum. Thank you, l am sure nobody will miss me. Please delete my thread from fabulous fashon jewelry. Thanks again IMG_20220226_120443_HDR.jpg

If you are sharing gems which you reasonably believe are natural in origin, then those threads should remain in the colored stones section. Not every gem shared here requires an accompanying lab report. If you are certain or have reason to believe the stones are man-made, then they would be precluded from this particular board. All costume jewelry pieces (synthetic gems/plated base metals/etc.) should be posted in the fashion jewelry section, per PS rules.

I'm very sorry that you have not had a pleasant experience here. :(

Whatever you decide to do, mods won't see this request for deletion of posts or other actions. You'd have to reach out to them directly here. Good luck whatever you decide.

Thank you for mentioning this. She can also click "report concern" at the bottom of her OP.

yes, l reasonibly beleive l have natural stones, otherwise l wouldn"t share them with the members. l think my experience is not that bad, but l also think that there are some prejudice in this forum regarding origin of the stones, their setting, quality of my photos, carat weight, whatever l decide there are some nice people here, and as l said earlier l wish all my problems are like the problem on this forum. i believe my last thread should be moved at vintage and antique jewelry, it would be more appropriate. unpleasant experience is also ok.:cool2:

That's the right attitude to take... we all have important things going on in our lives. This forum should be a place for fun and levity. If you continue to participate, I hope your future experience is better.

Hi
Apologies in advance for a long reply
Im procrastinating tidying the spair room :boohoo:

I just wanted to say i think your stones were very pretty and i enjoy looking at them
Don't burn any bridges here on PS
Then you can pop back and say hello when you want or you just feel chatty and want to say hello

i dont have anything in my jewel box very spectacular at all but i enjoy being part of the community very much

i read yesterday you said English is not your first language and yes, things do get a bit lost in translation (even with and especially amongst those of us who speak English as a first language) on the internet in general

Im always very impressed and amazed by our European and Asian friends here who write so much more beautifully in English than i do (they also spell a heck of a lot better than me)
but here is also a good place for you to practice your written English - i mean i for one will never judge someone for their English !

If things are a bit stressful in your life (first off im sorry to read this) you are right, you don't need more bad in it,
but i have learnt from hard experience (in my Bruce Springsteen on line community) the internet is what you make of it
...and the ignore option is your friend

Often if i feel like i have been confronted i just walk away for a bit and cool off
Sometimes when i reread the offending post i realize i took it the wrong way the first time or the disagreement is so small its really not important enough to have an international incident over -

i promise i do know what im talking about - ive lived my 3 days of feeling like the most hated person on the internet - all because people did not read my thoughts as i thought i had wrote them
and then i reacted

(btw im also right wing with a lot of more liberal friends - i have learnt i need friends more than i need to know ive won an argument)

One thing i do not ever like to see on the internet or anywhere is the wolf pack mentality (whether the person is right or wrong)
What good is 200 people telling someone they are wrong when at the end of the day in comparison to the problems of world at large the issue is small and insignificant compared to litterly war and peace

And humour should never disguise cruelty

Anyway i would enjoy looking at more of your stones

i have all sorts of odd little threads i often worry about putting them in the right place
- like a pearl necklace im making that includes pandora charms
I feel pearls are almost a little bit discriminated aganist in this community which i dont understand but its not my site to make the rules so i try very hard to abide by them and just be greatful pearls have their own subforum

As the Pandoras have CZs (i wish they didnt) they belong on the fabulous fashion subforun
Its just the rules, its just the way it is

The fashion jewlery threads dont get the same traffic as the others sometimes but im always up for a look see at what someone is wearing or has just found or has inherited

You might also enjoy participating in some of the hang out threads -
some are serouse, some are fun and some are just plain silly but its all about exchanging ideas with nice people weather they live in the same town or on the other side of the world

Anyway
i wish you well and also i wish you happier times ahead
i hope to see you again and to see you enjoying being a part of our community

Thank you :kiss2:

I want to live in a world where everyone is nice to each other
And except each other's rather harmless quirks

its a pipe dream i know ! :lol-2:

But I just really hate confrontation
Im reacting to Will Smith and Chris Rock by hiding under the table :snooty::doh:

Btw everyone take note !
I tried really hard with the spelling
And went back 4 times to fix it !

l never burn any bridges. thank you.but l like to know which one l can use safely. if you treat someones stones by certificates, that s the way you treat other people. l can recognise that.those people love titles, money, ,glory, carat w eight and so on. that's my weak spot and that"s the reason l overreacted sometimes., but l was not rude. l just feel someones energy and attitude behind the post, . they can be neutral in their posts, but l feel bad reading it, even if it was a replay for other member"s thread. l read your post very carefully.l like the part about humor and cruelty, you are right, this is good for my English. l have a problem with Conditional .

Just remember you are welcome here =)2

We have had a few interesting characters in the past so i think that may have unfortunately by no fault of your own been in some people's mind

but the more you post - (also in other threads) the more we all get to know each other

Chip on the shoulder much?

People aren’t treating your stones by their certificates because yours haven’t got any.

People are telling you to make some effort to definitively determine what you’ve actually got. Glass, quartz, synthetics, natural rarities… People are telling you to solicit the assistance of an educated and objective authority.

You are choosing to interpret PS disinclination to take your claims at face value as rejection of your stones and your person.

FWIW I read through your posts because both of your threads in the Pearls subforum struck me as rather odd. I’ve got the picture now.

Can you please explain what is odd in my pearls?

If you have your picture l would like to answer me, because I have my picture. I can only guess your picture, and really l am thinking how to react now. If you know something about my pearls , maybe you can share with me, it is important for me to find out more.. " Rejection of my person" online? I haven't met anyone in real life, and to be honest l don't care about online rejection . It's ok, l have glass and synthetics and know how to take a photos so they look like natural stones, it's not the end of the world. When l estimate there is time and possibility to test my stones, I'll do it. The rest of your post l will not comment. Thank you for your time , you really made an effort to read my posts. Do not worry overmuch about certificates, you will find most CS shown here don't have certificates. I think we all like to find out so much about stones that are posted, (weight, carat, size) but it is because we are obsessed and love them and love looking at them, lol. We welcome you.

Can you please explain what is odd in my pearls?

I thought it was an ok post about pearls.

There is another forum for pearls and you need to google Pearl and Guide. This separate, different Pearl and Guide forum is good in that people there can tell you what sort of pearls you have by eye. I am in awe of the pearls people in that other forum, really. But sometimes, you may not get a reply.

Enjoy your gems =)2. I am not keen on Alexandrite so I would not know how to appreciate them. I did find your amethyst very very beautiful.

Randomly jumping in here, but that cat picture is soooo cute! I want to stroke his little head!!!

Such a glossy little coat he has!

Apologies for not reading the room...

I'm new here and trying to learn the lay of the land. Where do colored lab stone posts belong if not in the "colored gem" section, and also, why? To me, the terms "faux" and "costume jewelry" don't really fit the quality of some of the lab stones that are being made today, especially when they're cut by a fabulous lapidary. I don't mean any offense, I'm just wondering if there's a specific reasoning for bifurcating discussion about colored gemstones when no one here can verify if someone's stones are real or not.

You do have a point; the "faux" section is just diamonds. As a fan of mostly colored stones, I agree that most on that forum do not want to see or discuss synthetics -- even pretty ones -- unless it is a "help me determine..." thread.

I have seen plenty of folks referring to their lab-created colored-stone rings in "Colored Stones" -- but usually as a "part of my collection" and not "look what I just got."

I hope others will chime in. There are certainly period synthetics that are fascinating, beautiful, and even of historical significance.

I guess my inner lawyer is coming out with this ☺️ I personally love to mix lab and real stones, plus I enjoy the cheeky new synthetics like neon yellow YAGs and the crazy diamond simulants they started developing in the 1950s. Plus, a lot of the lab sapphires and whatnot are molecularly identical to their natural counterparts, so the distinction gets tricky.

I don't really see the harm of posting these if you're up front in disclosing something isn't natural, especially when you're not trying to sell it.

I just want to know the boundaries so I can join in posting, especially since a lot of my pieces are lab/natural hybrids! I'm new to the gem world and this forum is much more rich than the communities on Reddit, which (as a millennial) is my native land

Also, I went through the history of this whole post. Halfway through, I decided some popcorn was in order!

"Fabulous fashion jewelry" is the place for lab stones. Lots of us have posted our precision cut lab CS over there and would be happy to see it more active :)

Since there are many PSers who enjoy synthetic/lab stones, the Mods created a section of the forum specifically for this purpose.
A link can be found here. This dedicated page allows PSers to discuss all aspects of man made stones, including ongoing searches, without muddying the discussion of colored gems here. =)2

ETA: @lovedogs: I see we posted at the same time!

Thank you (and @lovedogs)! I'll browse around there, and hopefully it does become more active.

I suppose the real question is why discussion about lab gems "middies the discussion" about colored gems. Like I said earlier, the molecular structure of many lab gems is the same as natural stones. So a lab sapphire is, technically speaking, a sapphire; even moreso than a beryllium-enhanced sapphire, which many in the gem world now accept as an OK treatment. Is provenance the only distinction?

Even the blog post on the front page of this site has trouble defining "fine jewelry" versus "costume jewelry." The running definition that I got from that post seems to be, some type of non-plated precious metal (platinum, gold, silver) and a precious or semi precious stone. Seems like a lab sapphire set in 14K gold would fall under that definition.

I think this really became clear in the vendor post. I just tried out an Etsy stone cutter who sent some fabulous lab saphs in an Arya Akhavan design, but those can't be posted even though the person does both real and lab stones. The rule just seems like a distinction without much of a purpose, or at least one that hasn't been defined clearly.
