Muzo Emeralds on IG

Let me just state that sometimes, if you go on the particular vendor’s IG home page, you may find a link to Etsy or their own website. If so, you may want to contact or purchase from them through those sites instead. Now I have successfully purchased items from IG vendors, but not through IG, but Etsy instead.

I even got chewed out from a vendor because I asked for videos, and then I opted against purchasing. He said he could have saved time not sending me videos. I mean, what gives you the right to think that somebody’s going to automatically buy something from you, just because you send them a video.l?!

I do want give a huge shout out to Earth’sTtreasury though. They were on IG and did send me videos, and they were not angry with me when I did not buy anything, but very patient, honest, informative and kind.

Thank you for this. Sorry for your experience. I think I will be more precise when I'm posting something as eye candy vs a serious consideration, and always try find an Etsy/ebay etc link.

Welcome to the world of Instagram!! That’s why I avoid it like the plague. Some dealers are decent, but overall, it’s an annoying place to shop. Of the few times I wasn’t ignored, I offered to buy a stone from someone once, she told me she would send me an invoice and ended up selling it to someone else. I actually prefer a cart/checkout process like Etsy or eBay. Instagram to me, is just a gallery. I also hate seeing gems that are “for sale” when they’ve already been sold. They have no incentive to have good customer service as there is no accountability or rating system.

Sorry about the rant…

Agree 1,000%.

Am I doing something wrong? He is completely ignoring me for no apparent reason…

Hey the other vendor you can try is gemfactor_emeralds. They are in Switzerland and own mines in chivor if you are not set on muzo ones. I did buy a small no oil stone from them. They provide reports from SSEF and GRS. Very responsive. Both George and gemfactor have been very helpful to me — I would recommend both vendors.

Oh yeah, Muzo material definitely tends to be more included than Chivor. But the latter's color and saturation doesn't compare, in my opinion. Look forward to seeing your pic!

Fell asleep with the kids and got up early to work. Can’t find the pictures on my phone!! Will try to dig through them tonight if I don’t fall asleep too quickly.

In my experience, George has been nice to me, but friends of mine have told me that he has also ignored them. For this reason, I think he only responds to people he thinks he can make a quick deal with. In my opinion, he is a bit smug, but don't worry, there are many IG accounts with amazing emeralds

Interesting, I wonder why he might get the impression that someone isn't a serious customer.
Maybe they expect to see some posts, public profile, a name, etc?
I imagine IG vendors get a lot of messages from bots.

Nevermind, you said more specifically that he may be looking for someone he can make a quick deal with.
Not sure how you can make a quick deal with some of the high end emeralds but I suppose to some people its not a major purchase.

I actually started a thread not long ago about how much I hate shopping on Instagram! I pretty much refuse to play that game. And I am so sick of seeing “DM for deets and dibs”. I’m not desperate enough to call dibs on a stone. Apparently others are though because they do seem to get snatched up quickly.

Yes, I agree that a link to a website or Etsy is fine. As long as there is a checkout process.
