My Amazing Holy Grail - 9.9mm OEC!

Another idea is to have a band like this: http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=2409 I have a band similar to it and I totally love it. Or the ERD Alyshia w/ the tapered square emerald cut diamonds. There are too many choices and too many styles out there!

So thanks to Tgal, I've been walking around, calling my diamond "Ms. Ho-bag".

Ooooh I love that Tiffany setting you found, FK! Seriously stunning! I'm sure whatever you end up doing will be gorgeous!

Thanks!! That listing has been in my watch list forever. I love the profile, but I think I need more sparkle!!

What do you guys think of this?

ERD has this one, which looks very similar:

Stay simple is my vote. Then you never get tired of a style.

You better wear that thing more than every so often or else it might come for vacation hiatus up North with its sister! Hehe.

Amazing find, and well done! I second that you should set it in a way that you can wear it daily. From someone with experience with larger stones on smallish fingers, I say - if you love it that much, you will enjoy being able to wear it all the time. Especially since you feel it is your 'One'. lol

Anne

PS - I agree it's probably going to clock in closer to 4ct, given the dimensions you posted.

Anne, your ring is incredible! And VC is less than 10 miles from me. Our stones are about the same size... maybe I should consider a halo... :naughty:

I love that style of band which is why I thought I would remind you of Singlestone's version. I edited my posting above to include a different version that would be similar but different.

I saw, and I love it! But SS might be more expensive than I'm ready to spend. You know I'm cheap!

I know, defintely not a Fortekitty find. Maybe you can find one:))

I just realize how stupid this must sound to people who don't know me, claiming to be cheap on this particular thread. :nono: But really, I am very frugal normally and diamonds are my only splurge, and many of you here already know that this diamond was a really good deal. I swear! :saint:

I can only hope! ebay, here I come!!

Please do a simple solitaire to let that big rock shine! It will cover your whole finger anyways and you can pair it with bands for extra sparkle. But a fancy setting will be OTT and detract, IMO.

+1, it is too beautiful to put into something fancy

Another simple vote.

Classic is the way to go with such a stunning stone. Looking at that diamond, there is nothing more a setting needs to say--- that diamond says it all!! Fancy just distracts from it....plus it would be more expensive and you just said you were frugal ;))

Ganesha's is prettier than the tiffanys one!! It looks sleeker and more fluid.

I was thinking like $150 temp setting cheap... haha.

FK I really do think you should have a shank soldered to the head of the pin. Its gorgeous and it would likely be least expensive!

I would love to do that, but I'm not sure if anyone can put the diamond back properly into the mount once it's out. My faith in local jewelers is severely lacking. I have an appointment with Patrick Davis in a few weeks, and I wanted it appraised out of the mount. The prongs are so fine and dainty that I cannot see them at all at 12 inches away, face up. They are also almost completely flat against the crown, and overall just amazing work. However, it is mounted on the high side, and the culet is at least 3.5mm from the bottom of the head, so it's not as if the whole head is a must-have. The prongs pretty much hold all the reigns. If it can't be put back the exact same way, I'm not sure I want it back in.

Plus, someone messaged me a design that sent my head spinning. It has tapered emerald cuts and squared emerald cuts, but looks more antique-y than the Leon one Iinked earlier. Hopefully I can get my butt to 23rd street in the next few months and see if they can do something like that. In the mean time, I'll continue to wear it as a pin!

HA!!! a $150 cheap temp setting for that baby??? OMG!!! I'll send you money to put it in something better!!!! (I mean--- at least a $300 setting, come on! :wink2: )

Another +1 on a simple setting. I think with a halo, your HG (or whatever you call it now) will be lost. With a solitaire, it's the star of the show. I also agree with other PPs that you should put it in a setting that you'll be able to wear daily. If you'll only wear it once in a while, it's kind of like being in a dark, dank bank deposit box again ;(

So you will reset it into the pin after you have it appraised? If you need the expense of resettign it, set it in some lame cheap mount at least so you can wear it on your hand!

It'll likely stay loose after the appraisal, since I don't think anyone can put it back the same way! I am hoping to set it in a permanent home in the next few months. My wallet is still reeling from its most recent transaction! :nono:

Oh. My. Goodness. I have no words. :appl:  :appl:

THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING STONE/EBAY FIND EVER!!!!!!

A few months??!?! C'mon. Spend $300 on a setting, amortize over three months, that's $100 per month to enjoy and wear it 8)

:errrr: :errrr: $300 will buy me 6 years of haircuts and tip! Or 10 pairs of shoes!!! (that's right, I'm THAT cheap!)

I'm a bit of a hoarder... give me some time.

Well it is simply scandelous to imagine that diamond loose somewhere hiding even for a few days!

She wont be hiding. I'll have her out after work and on weekends! ::)
