After my dad died, I had his ring converted into a pendant. My jeweller kept the "face" of the ring intact but removed the band. It's a sapphire surrounded with diamonds.

Here it is on my neck (excuse the messy hair)...

More shots coming...here''s the first one...a close-up...

Here is the side view...the pendant is 22K YG, but the bail at the back is 18K WG.

Don''t remember the size of the sapphire but it is not heat treated, don''t remember the caratage of the diamonds either.

Great shade of blue.
I think thats really touching that you''ve made his ring into a pendant.

what a beautiful keepsake. Was this a ring he wore often? I think it is a wonderful sentiment to be able to wear his ring as a pndant, close to your heart. MAy his memory always be strong in you.

I really like what you have done with your dad''s ring. A very sentimental piece and with the band cut off it looks great as a pendant...

Thanks - innerkitten, Sophie and Josh.

My father never wore much jewellery, not even a w-ring, same case with my mum. He used to wear this ring when he was younger and the ring wasn''t so tight (it was not alterable). At that time, the centre stone was a 0.70ct plus RB but when I got married in 2002, he took it out and had it made into a RHR for me. I then bought him a blue sapphire to replace the RB.

Although he hadn''t won the ring for a long time, for me, wearing it as a pendant does help a little to bring him a bit closer. It''s been 51 days since he left us and I really miss him.

Here is the ring he gave me for my wedding.

That''s a neat way for you wear his ring and remember him. The right hand ring he gave you is lovely.

What a drop dead gorgeous ring he gave you for your wedding.

And what a special pendant. I love that you were able to preserve the exact look of the ring and have the shank removed.

very cool! Recycling jewelry and making it new again with sentimental value is a beautiful thing!
