SO gorgeous! That''s one of my all time fave settings!
If you don''t mind me asking, what''s involved in purchasing in the US and importing to Canada? Do you have to pay duty and Cdn taxes? I''m in BC and I''m planning an upgrade soon and I was wondering about going the WF route...

The big test is coming up right away when they send the ring up here. Once WF receives my ring(tomorrow), they will send it here Fedex Priority International. Once the ring gets to the border, I will have to fax in a one time power of attorney to Fedex to allow them to bring it across the border for me. No duty but I will have to pay the GST(Albertans are lucky we don''t have PST). Then they should deliver it at which time I pay them for the GST they paid on my behalf at customs. I''m pretty sure this is how it''ll work based on all my research here.

We have sister rings as well. I''m so glad you went with the regular, you will love it. I''m still awaiting the official proposal....hopefully soon. Although I sneak looks and try it on every now and again...I know crazy. Can''t wait to see your hand shots.
Congratulations again!!!

To get it even faster, I send in the POA early. I watch the tracking and once I notice it will be arriving at the customs office (usually 6am day after shipping) I have it ready and fax it in right then. If you wait for them to call you to fax it in, they usually don''t call until 10 or 11am and by then it''s too late to get on the truck for delivery that day (for me at least, I''m not in a major city with a customs office though).
Thanks for the information Shimmer. Just a couple other questions...I have the form but I don''t have a BN(business #). Did you have to call CCRA to attain this? Also do diamond rings qualify for NAFTA Treatment? I want to check yes but I''m not sure. I also don''t have a copy of the NAFTA Certificate to fax with my letter...Date: 1/15/2009 5:44:59 PM

I had them email it to me the first time I had something shipped...when I actually waited for the call. Now I have it saved on my computer, hehe.
You can just call the fedex 1800 number and tell them you need a one time POA, but they''ll probably ask what your tracking # is. You will also need them to give you the fax number you need to fax it in to. Tell them what city you are in, it will be a local number (mine was in Calgary).
Hope this helps
