If it were me, I'd want to do something with sidestones or at least melee. In J-K to match the M. And in unplated creamy white gold. I did my M in a JK halo but in plat.. It looked okay, but sometimes it would bug me that I can warm white next to cool white. Definitely with a nod to the old world style, too. YUM!
If you're not yet 100% what you want, though, might I please urge you to stick it in a cheapy $3-500 solitaire while you figure it out? That's what I'm doing now. Well, about to do soon. Take your time. Research. Collect a bunch of pictures and circle the elements you love on each one, including all the super small details like prongs, how high it will sit, gallery design, etc. Sleep on it much. Don't rush. In my opinion, spending even $2-3K on a simpler setting by an amazing designer isn't worth it if you'd want to change it shortly after. Plus.. Wearing your diamond in a cheapy setting around town and out and about will let you get to "know" her in all the different lighting environments.. Feel her "personality", if you will. I truly wish I had done that with my stone. Luckily, or unluckily, my jeweler completely f-ed up my setting TWICE, so I got a refund... And can start over. But I wouldn't wish that type of drama on anybody. Even after getting the refund, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted (something from Single Stone), but after sleeping on it while Ari was on vacation, I realized I was only infatuated with something new and pretty-- not necessarily an in-love-forever situation.
Do you have a Pinterest account? Surf through Pinterest. Surf through 1stBids. Go through RingBlings on Instagram. Go through Erika Winters (Coati)' Pinterest account. Go through Ruby Lane, and EBay even. I found an amazing antique that I loved and tweaked from eBay after sitting on setting my sapphire for over a year, and I am so glad I did.
And don't feel your AVC is limiting options. Ignore the drama of some jewelers and their weird relationships and competition. It just helps narrow down the list of whom you should work with, IMO, which is fantastic since there are so many to choose from! Your diamond is absolutely amazing, one of my favorites, and it deserves nothing but the best "The One" settings, ever!

And DS is right, I've NEVER met a jeweler at a B&M place that knew even HALF of what I know about diamonds - just from reading this site and doing further research. Most of the "jewelers" I've talked to have never even heard of Old European cuts, for goodness sakes. He just heard the carat weight and the price and made assumptions. Sure, you could get a crushed ice cushion for less than an AVC, but it won't have the same light return qualities, and it will therefore look less bright and smaller. GOG's prices are in-line with all other branded antique cushion lines out there.
I went to look at some OEC's today and had to listen to a huge tirade (unprovoked) about how unnecessary and terrible certificates are. I was just thinking to myself... sure, if I don't want to know what I'm paying for.
Your stone's beautiful! How do you feel about the M color?

But you know, around here we all know what August Vintage stones are and many here have them. In the overall scheme of things, however, they are some of the rarest diamonds in the world! So it isn't surprising that there are many jewelers who wouldn't know they existed. This one needs some customer service lessons, I think!
