My new 3.19 M AVC!!

There are cushions and there are OEC cushions, there are VC cushions, there is GOG August Vintage cushions.. we pay a premium for our GOG cushion, I explained this to my husband as saying it's like saying I have a Tiffany MRB or I have a Van Cleef & Arpel ring.. these stones are cut to the designers specifications and they receive most times perfect scores.. we pay for this.. I didn't mind doing this, if your jeweler is matching you up to a 3 carat James Allen cushion then we paid more.. but I looked at those and I went the distance because I wanted AVC :) one has to see one to understand the beauty of the pastel's.. the sparkle from the side..

I believe your jeweler shouldn't have said anything, makes for bad business between you and him/her. my .02$

congrats again what an awesome stone.. I favor the settings with the french cuts vs a halo but that is just me!!! go with what you want!

jealous ;-)

kind regards.

So I have kind of an odd question. I went to local jeweler tonight to look into settings and he started asking questions about my new diamond. (I didn't take it with me, I want to insure it before I take it out of the house). He was borderline rude when talking about it. He informed me that I paid 15K too much for my stone! My husband looked at me like WHAT? I don't feel that I paid too much. What do you guys think?

I love AV stones!!! I can't wait to see your baby set! I worked with Steven Kirsch on my AVC and he was amazing to work with - super talented! I'm sure whatever setting you decide it's going to be beautiful since you've got a super sparkler! I'll be following your journey!

So after the uncomfortable meeting with, what was my favorite local jeweler, I'm thinking that I will go back to GOG for the Tacori HT2607RD10. This will have to be customized to fit my rectangular stone but they told me that will be no problem at all :appl:

Here are some pictures of the setting...

Here's another picture that Tacori posted on pinterest. It's a customized version of the setting. This will give you a lot better idea of what it would look like. I hope it's ok that I post this

I think you'll be more than happy working w/ GOG and having the stone set in the Tacori setting!! Are you going to wear another band w/this ring though? Because I'd be a little worried about the stones on the sides of the shanks rubbing w/anything next to it. I've read that people have used "spacers", but it's something you might want to follow up on.

Also, in your post about visiting the local jeweler you said that you didn't have your stone w/you (and rightly so, since it isn't insured). But I've found that the real thing speaks VOLUMES more than anything, so once it's set and you're wearing it around, you won't have to say a word, you'll be approached about it and will have a chance to educate a ton of folks (including local jewelers).

I can't tell you how many jewelers tried to convince me over the years that the idea of "ideal cut" or "H&A", etc was just marketing and that a stone = a stone = a stone. So it's funny when I'm in a jewelers now and they stop me to ask about my tiny ideal (H&A) side-stones. Marketing or not, my eternity bands catch the light and really dazzle the eye and you can't really argue w/that (well at least I can't :)) ) .

No I don't think I'm going to put a band with this. I kind of want to see the sides.
