Your stones are beautiful! Your title caught my eye because I just received my B. Rose Amethyst last week. I love the color. It''s like a pinkish purple. Before I bought the stone I couldn''t really find any info here about them. But I''m glad I did.....I love it! Enjoy your stones!!!!!

Are those the bigger rhodolites for your earrings? Do you have a pic of them next to the studs?

Hi Harriet,
The rhodolites look fantastic with your studs. You can have them made with detachable gizmos. I just saw this pair of earrings from Diamonds by Lauren with the same detachable gizmos. They're gorgeous, only thing is they're a bit too dangly for my taste.
Here is the earshot which DBL posted and the second is of how it looks detachable.
BTW, there was a special offer at Bee Cheng Hiang last weekend. Sliced pork at S$18.90 for 600g. Yum...

Hi Harriet,
You''re right...it was my first response to your posts. Let me know how it goes with your earring project. I have a custom jeweller but he''s not retail and he does all my stuff. if you''re ever in Singapore maybe I can hook you up with him.
Oh...your friend went to Lim Chee Guan eh? Nice...but I noticed that I can''t handle more than 2 slices at one go and my craving comes on a semi-annual basis. Thank goodness for that since I''m trying to lose weight and have a couple more kg to go....What else do you crave for? Chai tow kway? Char kway teow???
Cool. Let me know when you''re arrive in town - not sure how though since there are no PMs on this site anymore.Date: 5/31/2007 6:44:02 AM

I saw your wedding pictures. You have no weight to lose!
Oh my, you read my mind. Chai tow kway is my all-time favourite. Argh.
I''ll be back for the last 2 weeks of August.Date: 5/31/2007 7:20:01 AM

I definitely have weight to lose. The wedding pics are almost 5 years old!!! Do you like the black or white version? I like both, with lots of chilli, of course. Check out hungrygowhere.com - it has loads of food reviews...Singapore style...

I''m having too much fun with them.
Sometimes I like the possibilites of things more than I would like the actual things once the decision is made. It''s crazy, but for example if I have $1000 for bling ... I will draw out a decision with regard to that money as long as possible. Because it''s just so much fun to look at all the things I could buy with the money and consider them. Once the money is spent... I have a pretty thing... but no more possibilites.
So if I set them they will be what they are... now they could be anything: a pendant, a ring....
They were affordable enough that I can just take them out and play and imagine what they''d look like as X or Y.
Crazy. I know, but I really have fun with it. I love possibilites.
Thanks! The reason I didn''t get them in the first place is that their sizes are a wee bit different. That shouldn''t matter once set, but I''m type-A like that.Date: 5/31/2007 7:00:42 PM

Yes once you set them you definitely won''t notice a slight difference in size. If you are trying to be budget-oriented (and depending on the calibration of your stones), you can find out if they fit into a pre-made basket setting mountings ; most jewelers have catalogs where they can look up options for you. If you are not, even though I typically don''t favor them i think they would look fantastic with diamond halos!
I agree gypsy, sometimes it''s almost more fun to leave them as loose stones and ''play'' with them. There are some stones I bought for the purpose of making into rings, but I''m in no hurry to set them since it is fun to see them all in their little containers.
Hey, I love the danburite and pearl idea.Date: 6/1/2007 12:30:17 AM

They are fun to play with... especially my three danburites because they are all different shapes and sizes. I LOVE my little 5 x 5 cut cornered square brilliant and want 5 more just like it. I want to set them into adwar mountings and use an existing chain I have plus some loose pearls to make a diamond and pearl by the yard like necklace.
My oval is so much fun to play with. I don''t know if I will ever set it. Nothing has struck me as just right yet. My rectangle I am looking for small sides for. I''m thinking colored baguettes and then set into a three stone ring with the danburite set east west.
But those are just my current thoughts. Might change in a day or a week. You never know.
The next colored stone I''m going to set is my garnet. I have found one setting I like... I''m just not sure if I like it for the price or for the look so I''m sitting on that. That''s about it.
The danburites are great fun though. I''m so glad I got three small ones instead of the one large I was eyeing.
Could we please see the beauties, especially the colour-change garnet? I''d love one.Date: 6/1/2007 8:45:50 AM

Harriet, what I was thinking was a typical halo. But what you''re describing also sounds nice, and would give more movement. I feel like I''ve seen that style on here somewhere, maybe as part of a pink sapphire pendant?
Gypsy, my collection is very modest. large green blue oval aquamarine, 2 small round pink sapphires, oval rhodolite garnet, small round color change garnet, light blue sapphire pear, 2 4x6 imperial topaz ovals, round african demantoid garnet (now set into pendant), and miscellaneous other stuff. Just yesterday I ordered a few strands of real turqoise beads with the intention (of someday) making them into necklaces. My wish list flucuates, but I ordered the topaz ovals to be made into dangle earrings but they look too small, so would like at some point to acquire a larger pair of precious topaz (oval or pear) to have someone make a pair of earrings for me (not sure when that will be).
