Ow I love that, she will be ow so happy. I have been following your story from the beginning and think it is just great! Make sure we get lots more pictures and some hand shots after the big day!

Thanks Wen104! As you can probably tell I''m definitely not shy with posting pictures :) I will definitely post more when it''s finally done. Hopefully in a few weeks.

First of all, I''ve got to say that I adore that cushion - it delicious!!!

For the setting, definitely use a third stone on the shank. Two always look a little lonely - odd numbers are much nicer. You''re going to lower the stone and widdle down those huge prongs - good! Trust your instincts - you have a great eye! You''re doing an awesome job!

Gorgeous stone w/so much life and fire!!! I love the cad too!

Rock-Candy, thanks for the kind words. I''m definitely going with the 3 stones. It was quite the search for the cushion, but worth it.

Skippy, thanks. I wish I could get the fire to photograph better. I''m getting better though.

Sparkalicious, thanks., I hope so. I just need to get the stone to Seattle safley, and I can then breath easy.

your cushion is sensational (i loved the L/W before reading the part where you spoke of it) and this setting will be too! i cannot WAIT to see it! i''m glad you''re going for the third diamond on the shank, i think it definitely needs it. oooooo, i''m getting excited for you/your future FI!!!

Oh wow, beautiful stone and a fantastic setting! I love it because it is classic and unique at the same time!

(One more thought, I know CADS have pronounced features, but I'd be sure to tell them to make those prongs as delicate as possible. I wouldn't want them to stick out that much.)

Diamondseeker, definitely agree on the prongs, it''s my first point I will discuss with them, in addition to a few other changes. I''m sure there will be at least another CAD or two before they send me the first wax. I will post pictures as things progress.

I just saw it again .. it really is fantastic, Pauly!

We''ll take care of your new baby here in Seattle. I promise!

Where are you sending your baby? You''re getting it appraised, right? Just curious ... thought it might be the same place that I am dealing with since they have a Master Appraiser there.

Very nice, really like the special touches like the surprise sapphires.

Definitely reiterate with them how you want the final piece to look re: delicate-ness, but know that you won''t ''see'' any of that till the very end. My waxes were definitely bigger than the final piece was, considerably. It''s just part of the process.

Beautiful setting and gorgeous stone! I love all the pictures of the stone!

I cannot wait to see it! I just love that setting... and with a cushion?! WOW! it's gonna be gorgeous! It is so pretty and unique.

I'm assuming the engraving is just not shown in the CAD?

Not a big deal but I was curious- in the sketch there were 3 side diamonds and in the CAD there are 2... was it changed due to the size of it all? I kinda prefer the odd # 3 on each side.

The cushion is stunning and I like the design a lot, too! I definitely think you should go for the 3 side stones also. I can''t wait to see the finished product!

Thank you all for the compliments! I hope things continue to go smoothly. To answer a few questions:

Sparkalicious, I'm working wth Greenlake. As for the appraising, I was going to use someone here in NY when the ring is complete. If Greenlake is an option though, I might consider that as well.

Firegoddess, I definitely agree that the piece needs to have a delicate feel to it and they know that as well. I think it's just the CAD and what it can really capture. The wax should give a better idea of the size and I will post pictures when I receive the first one.

Sera, yes the engraving will be a CC of what's shown on the face of the inspiration ring. From what I'm told it doesn't really look right on the CAD, so that's why they leave it off. It will also curl slightly around to the side as shown in the sketch. I was originally considering 2 stones because she has such tiny fingers 3.75 - 4.0. After looking at the CAD though, I'm definitely going with the 3 stones instead of 2, they purposly left that extra space for a 3rd stone so I could picture what it would look like. My only decision is whether to go with (1) 1.7 and (2) 1.5s or (1) 1.7, (1) 1.5, and (1) 1.3. I think the second option might help the natural taper of the shank. It's a minor detail.

OK, so I got the CAD back with a few changes, nothing major.

- The stone is sitting lower
- The prongs are smaller (but will be even smaller on the actual piece)
- The 3rd sidestone has been added
- The tube on the sapphire now sits flush with the face.

The next step will be the wax where I can really get a feel for the size and delicateness of the piece.

I have to say though, I''m somewhat reluctant to ask for opinions on this because I fear I''ll get a split right down the middle, BUT...I''ll do it anyway. :) What are your thoughts on the engraving? This was the backbone of the ring from the moment I saw it, but the more I look at the CAD the more I start to question. I have 3 scenarios I''m contemplating

1. Leave the ring as shown with absolutely NO engraving, except for on the leaves as shown?
2. Go with the engraving on the face only as shown in the inspiration ring?
3. Go with the engraving on the face as well as slightly curling around to the side? This is what''s shown in the sketch.
I look at the CAD and I really like it. I''m just torn with wondering if the engraving will take it up one more notch, or if I''ll start to flirt with to many details. The sapphires really make the ring pop, so it''s not boring. I just don''t want to end up with to much going on, like I was trying to hard. Dare I ask ......thoughts? :)

That's going to be gorgeous! I can't wait to see the finished piece. BTW, did I miss who is doing the setting?

Oh my! I am in love with the side view - Cad3. I loved the cushion you chose and have been keeping an eye out for your design. Excellent job. I really love that ring and I am sure she will as well! Who wouldn''t?

I have to say I love the way the CAD looks, but I also love engraving so I have to go with option 3. I think that engraving adds that extra little flair to rings, for example rainlydaze ring: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/yay-my-eli-jewels-princess-halo-is-here.73509/ (hope she does not mind me reposting this)...

You have to love engraving though, and I think that the original drawings with the engraving look fabulous.

You are doing a wonderful job with this, and I really cannot wait to see the final product... it is going to be stunning for sure.

Am I allowed to chime in?

First off, its so exciting to see that my ring is the inspiration for someone else''s! What a compliment.

I don''t read pricescope so often anymore, so today was the first day I saw your posts. I''m glad you didn''t go with the taper like I did (referring to one of your previous posts) - that was a decision based on the marquis cut of my stone and the v prongs. I think with the cushion, you absolutely made the right choice.

Second, I was horrified by my CADs as well - they have none of the delicacy that my final ring had. However, in the end, my v-prongs were still bigger then I envisioned. And the waxes didn''t help because the prongs are bigger there then they will be in real life too.

Third, a warning that I''m not sure you will have the same problem with. My stone needs to be re-tightened about 2x/year. With all the exposure, its easy to hit it on things during everyday use and my jeweler says the low setting contributes to the problem as well. I think this is a fair trade compared with my love for my design, but just an FYI.

Finally, your question above. One of the reasons I didn''t have engraving on the sides is because I loved the dichotomy of the modern top and the antique sides. If your lady really wants antique antique antique, I would suggest continuing the engraving on the sides.

Just my two cents! And again, I''m totally flattered.

DiamanteBlu - I''m working with Greenlake, they are based in Seattle. GLJW.com

Black Island - Thanks!

Poshpepper - I agree, it is a tough call, but I''m leaning towards option 3.

MAchick- Yes, I definitely think you''re more than entitled to chime in !

I found your ring about 6 months ago and have been piecing together my design ever since. I probably looked at 500 pictures of various Engagement Rings and yours just stood out above all the rest. It''s just so striking. She loves sapphires, but didn''t want to then on top, so I was looking for a way to work them into the design subtly.

I''m really trying to emphasize to them the delicateness of the ring, and I know that can''t really be captured in the CAD or wax.

Thanks for the FYI on the retightening, can you actually feel your stone loosening up? I will have to make sure she is aware of that down the line. I''m hoping with the prong setting it will be a little more secure than the half bezel, but I''ll definitely keep and eye on it.

As for the engraving, we did some sketches of FULL engraving on the sides, which I didn''t really care for. We decided that just SLIGHTLT curling around would strike a good balance. There’s a sketch at the top of the page to illustrate this a little better. You went with 5 stones, and I''ve settled on 3. I''m starting to think the side will look a little plain without the slight wrap around engraving. Then again, she is a size 4, so the stones might extend further down than I think. I think the wax will give me a better idea, which I should have soon. So I''m really between option 2 and 3, but I''m leaning towards 3 as originally planned.

It''s great to hear from you, I owe you a big thanks. I''m much more visual as apposed to creative and I wouldn''t have been able to come up with design without seeing your ring first. So a big thanks to you. I will definitely keep this post updated as things progress. I''m hoping to have it all done by the end of the year / early January.
