Hi Patty, yes, I can see the baguettes from the top just a little bit, but the real payoff is when my hand is at rest a bit from the side view, just a little glint for interest.
Mara, no, my idea... you know, I actually was so bold as to ask one of the jewelers if they knew of any 'snap-on-snap-off' (sounds like a toolset) styles that they had heard of. They just laughed and said no, the insurance system would NEVER allow it.
I liked my last setting, but it just didn't please my eye from the side, and flipped too much. So...am thinking of putting a really cool pink sapphire in it next and getting it sized up for the right hand. My right hand knuckle isn't a problem like my left is.
K-mom, thanks for the link. What a shame that Vatche didn't accept responsibilty for their faulty design! Your rings are stunning and I hope that you're able to enjoy them now without worrying about them. I did notice on my ring that the diamond comes out further than the prongs of the basket, so when I put my ring down on its side, it's resting on the girdle of the diamond. I'm thinking I should be careful to not just "plunk" it down since my diamond has a thin girdle.
Caratgirl, how nice to have the baguettes going down the sides. It's the same idea of Leota putting the little 3 pointers going down her band, giving the look of "endless diamonds." I really like how you designed this ring for YOUR enjoyment as well as everyone else's!
