My New Xmas/Bday Gift - My Dream OMC Studs!

Hello everyone,

Below is my combined 40th birthday and Xmas gift - a pair of Old Mine Cut studs, 3.80ish tcw (sorry, the exact carat weight escapes me now, but I know that it is 10-15 points shy of the 2 carat mark each), J/K color, very clean SIs. Set in a hand-made, custom platinum mounting. I love it! I can post my own photos as soon as I get a chance!

To alleviate the "droop" I suggest those jumbo earring backs (I don''t know if they''re usually made in plat. but know you can get them in WG), if the posts on your earrings are not screw-backs, WG jumbo backs should work. I have rather large earlobes and any studs I wear with basket style settings I have to wear the jumbo earring backs to avoid the dreaded droop. 14k ones might run you about $60.

They look wonderful on your ears, I love the profile and what beautiful stones!

Thanks again, ladies! Dtnyc,the stones came from another piece of jewelry. The carat weights match (1.91 and 1.92) but they are different sizes - you will notice that one appears a smidge bigger than the other. I have been on the hunt for OMC studs for the whole year so I was lucky to have found them.

Monarch, I chose to have screwbacks on them as they are very heavy and yes, I am still experiencing some droop. (I chose screwbacks as I am notorious for losing jewely and DH will have my head on a platter of I were to lose one of these.)

I suppose the jumbo earring backs wont work then? Also, where might I find them to try them on? Does anyone know of any other options I might try?

I think that you can get a small clear plastic disc that you put on the back of your ear before the screwback and that can help.

I think they are noticeable, but not too big. They stand out and are absolutely beautiful and once you get used to wearing them on a regular basis they''ll seem like more of a normal size for everyday wear to you.

Wow! What beautiful stones! I think the size issue has a lot to do with your daily dress and the people you are around, just like engagement rings. People are comfortable with very different sizes of diamonds!
