My octagon opal ring is finished!

LOL, in my attempt to be a good and prompt PSer, I may have jumped the gun! It's been a couple of hours now and the opal has changed quite a bit! I'll be back with some updated photos later. If I want it to be that transparent again, I think I'll have to water it!

Love the new pics! :appl: What a pretty ring

Oh that is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you stargurl and Rosebloom!

Okay, these will be the last pics. The dry air here has made the opal translucent, almost opaque. I can see now that it has a variety of moods, depending on the humidity. Interesting, no?

Not only do I love your Opal and now have SERIOUS Opal envy but I also adore Sally's wonderful craftmanship.

You are incredibly lucky and thank you for sharing such a wonderful creation.

Thank you so much Erin and pandabee!! Funny how it went into culture shock upon return from Thailand and turned milky white for the first time. It's gone back to transparent again. So moody!

Oh, LD, thank you very much! I really think Sally and her team outdid themselves. From beginning to end, a lot of care went into the crafting of the gem and then the ring. I smile every time I see it!

Wow!!!!!

I don't know how I missed this the first time, but what a seriously beautiful stone and setting! I love it, thank you for sharing!

Is it a Welo opal by any chance? That would explain why Miss Moody performed like that - or the other explanation is that she's just female and we ladies reserve the right to be moody!

I love the last line of your post - jewellery is supposed to make you smile and what a wonderful piece it is to do that.

Oh My!
That's completely beautiful!!!

Congratulations!

Erin: thanks for the resurrection! It really is beautiful and with its moods, its kind of like a mood ring - or weather forecaster - for the elite crowd

Simply gorgeous! It does have a dream like quality to it and is truly stunning.

Beautiful simplistic setting that allows the opal to speak for itself. I also like that the setting accentuates the octogonal outline.

I'm usually very against two tone settings. mostly because they dont tend to stay two tone forever. but yours is to die for. love it!

I'm glad this thread was resurrected too...how could I have missed it first time round?

Gorgeous - make that GORGEOUS - ring  :lickout:  Oh my. Love the opal and the setting. I have a soft spot for hexagonal cut stones and the Iolani is a setting that shows them off beautifully, however the slight tweaking of the design makes it your original, just like the beeeeoootiful opal. I also love the mix of golds.

Beautiful, just beautiful *sigh* and I love that it has moods. They become very personable - do you find yourself talking to it?

What a unique, beautiful ring.

Oh wow! This one made my heart flutter! Stunning!

That is so seriously pretty!!!    Yum!
