My once-yearly contemplation on upgrading begins. Thoughts on this WF expert selection?

If I wear it solo and it's cooler out, it will. I bought some ring snuggies off of Amazon to use in case I want to wear it alone because sometimes I just adore letting this setting shine! Can't wait to see what you end up with...enjoy the process!!

I appreciate that. Instead of stressing maybe I should try to enjoy it. We couldnt afford what I wanted 5 years ago, but we can now. I should try and appreciate that! Do you think yours spins because your stone is quite large? Quite large and amazing I should add.

No, I think it spins because I don't like to order my rings as a tight fit...my original ering was 1.5 carat and spun all the time...but it was also sized looser because I wanted to stack. This ring is sized slightly smaller but still above my real size because I like options to stack and get paranoid about fingers getting bigger etc! Jewelers have told me all of my rings are sized too large, but I just don't like a "tight fit" for some reason! I actually find this ring stays upright much better than my original so I think getting it sized properly is the key! Hope that helps!

Hey Kim what do you think of this one?
I had Liza email me some pics, it looks like the hearts and arrows are cut off kind of funny in the email pics. I’m hoping from the side an I color diamond won’t appear too tinted or yellow. I’m not an icy white lover either. The 1.7 ct stone wasn’t quite eye clean so she’s out and Liza said the H actually has a brown tint from the side. 57170226-20E3-4A0E-AC31-17A20FCC302A.jpg

It looks quite white to my eyes! I actually see the same amount of body color in the I VS2 as the H. Definitely a winner!

I felt that way too! I felt like the price looked pretty good too for the size. Its 7.40 mm and my current is 6.61 so I hope visually its a difference. I just checked on diamdb and it looks good. I know the crown angle affects the fiery affect. Is a 34.7 "good" for a nice fire?

I totally understand. My current e ring never spins but its my true size and its a comfort fit so I can often FEEL it which isn't super when its 115 degrees here and my fingers swell.

ACAs are cut to such tight specs that you will likely not see a difference in fire from one stone of the same size to another. The 34.7 crown angle, 15% crown height, and 77% LGF should be great for fire.

My three stone spins alone but paired with a band it is grounded. You may find the same thing. I really like the diamond you are considering!

Thank you so much! I love your three stone. I waffle between getting a new engagement ring or just getting a big three stone or seven stone and wearing only one ring to avoid these e-ring band issues. Since it’s such a large purchase I’ve literally been on the fence for like a year or so lol

Thanks! I do have to wear a band with it though to stop the spinning. It could just be a plain band as well - most anything stops the three stone from spinning.

Here are two pics of my Valoria setting with eternity bands. I make sure to use a spacer if stacking to be on the safe side!
IMG_7377.jpgIMG_9160.jpg

Hey KBM, does that thin pave spacer in the first pic prevent rubbing from your eternity band? I'm starting to really like the look of a thin pave, but I read on weddingbee someone said their 1.5 spacer still wasn't enough...

It works fine next to my smaller eternity (as shown in both pics) because that one sits very low and the diamonds are not as exposed as my bigger shared prong eternity. For that one I have to use my diamond/sapphire spacer to make enough space so they don't rub.

Ahh that makes sense thank you!

Ok friends so I have a stone on hold which I think is a good deal for the price however another, larger (of course) one has caught my eye.

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-4203991.htm on hold

the 1.826 caught my eye because when viewing the video, you get a shot of the arrows looking really distinct. (see pic) which I can't duplicate with the stone I have on hold nor with some random other ones I was looking at. Is this just luck of the video, and are these distinct arrows that are catching my eye a "good thing"? Someone who knows diamonds better let me know! Trying to decide if its worth the extra $$ I have always loved chunkier facets though..arrows pic.JPG

Luck of the video! Remember in real life viewing you aren't focused on arrows! They are tiny! Although, the larger the stone, the larger the arrows!

I looked at the stone I think you are talking about, and just so you know, the arrows are the same size percentage as the ones in the stone you have on hold! Both have 77 lower girdle facets. You're kind of overanalyzing that factor. I'd consider the larger stone due to greater size and higher color. There's a definite difference in 7.4 and 7.8mm! I'd personally choose the 1.82 if the price is manageable! (Oops, in looking at the video again, I think the 1.82 might have a dark crystal inclusion, so that might be why that stone hasn't sold.)

Do you have the link to the 1.82?

My bad I meant to link it.
See below :-)

I did find it, but I was editing my post when you just posted. So go back and see what I added about this stone.

I personally think this stone is lovely. If it is eye clean to your standards and you can afford to pay the extra money, then this stone could be an option. Yes, ask for a side by side comparison.

Make sure y'all are seeing the large black inclusion on the 1.82. It even says "Inquire" next to eyeclean. You can really see the inclusion in the brilliance video with the whiter background.

This one is nice at 1.60 and gets you over 7.5mm. I'd get it over the one on hold as long as they say it's as white or whiter than the 1.547.

I noticed the dark inclusion too. I’m glad you saw it without me mentioning bc I was wondering if someone else would!

Yes, and looking at the link to the stone, it says ‘inquire’ regarding whether it is eye clean. Good catch!

This is a great find, DS! I too would get this one as long as it's eye-clean and just as white.

Thank you! I’ll see if she can take a pic of this one too. Thank you so much.

Ok friends! See below for pics. Liza says the 1.547 one I have on hold is a little whiter. Both are eye clean. They look pretty similar to me. Anyone have a preference?

What do you ladies think? Does it look like the 1.6 has a thicker/taller crown height? Or are they so close in appearance it sort of doesn't matter?

The 1.6 is visually bigger to my eyes so that’s my pick.

It looked bigger to me too, but I thought I was crazy lol it does look a little more tinted though. Not sure how big of a deal that is in a 6 prong setting anyway.

Slightly from the side but face up its not going to matter.

It does look like the 1.6 has a taller crown height. The 1.6 has 15.4% crown height compared to the 1.547's 15.0%. Interesting that the difference is so apparent in the photo.

The 1.6 looks bigger to me too. If you look near the culet, the 1.6 looks *less* tinted to my eyes. I also prefer the 1.6's smaller table size.

I've always liked a taller crown, like in older cuts.
