My Oval.

I found this from the Leon Mege thread. It belongs to acegirllbda and I really love it.
I have been searching for the right halo and I think I am getting closer
Now if I had the details of the melee and any other halo information that would be great.

both Fi.Z and my halos are .5 pointers, if that helps

I love your oval! the thing that I always liked about them is the finger coverage.

Oooooooooo! I am so excited to see what you decide to do with your stunning oval! Here is mine with a recently added halo. I started out without e halo... but had the halo added to my setting later on. I love e dainty of my halo, the small melee and the bezel... exactly the look I had wanted :)

I love your ring!!! Thanks for adding your pictures to my thread, I love seeing all of my options. What made you decide to add a halo to your ring? Do you feel that the halo shows off your diamond more than when it was without it?
Your ring is pretty much exactly what I am thinking but with a plain shank, I really love it.

Yes it does help, that is exactly the look I am hoping for!! Thanks for the tip :naughty:

Thanks for the compliments ! :D

My ring started out without the halo. The setting was Beverly K inspired. My oval was prong set. The moment I saw my ring and tried it on, DSS hit me (my oval is 1.23ct, ring size 4). I was disappointed with the finger coverage and later on, I felt like my oval looked 'naked'. For the longest time, I was NOT a halo fan. But after some time of reflecting, staring at my ring, seeing all the beauties on PS, I came to the conclusion that 1) I still LOVED my setting, 2) I still LOVED my oval and 3) a bezel dainty halo would add finger coverage, sparkle, define the shape of my oval better, and add extra detail to the overall look of my ring. I am VERY happy with my decision. This ring will be with me for a long while! My halo is with HALF pointers. I think a dainty halo really makes the center stone just standout. I don't know if it is just the halo, or if combined with it being bezel set, but my oval now looks much "prouder" and has more presence than before!!! It is like a beautiful frame to a gorgeous painting!

I did consider the Bella Halo by JBEG. They also told me they could do it with an oval and that in fact, the original Bella design was for an oval. I would LOOOOOOOOVE to see you go for that option! Of course, the decision it totally up to you! I am just vicariously living off of your project,! LOL! I would have chosen the Bella route for myself, my that option was not within my budget!

I will definitely follow your journey!! So excited to see what you end up with! I love ovals!

Is the melee in your halo shared prong set? This is the part I am having a hard time figuring out.

I think its called bead set. But show the person making it pics of Fi.Z and ritani pics and the bench can figure it out. I say go with quest sense they clearly did a great job. Or ERD. they are always great.

Do you have a link to Quest? When I tried looking it up I found a place in Virginia, not sure if that's the same place?

Is your halo also bead set?

Thanks

Fi.Z will have to answer but I heard it was around the DC area so probably...
I believe that's what its called for both her and my halo. But again. A good bench should know. :))

I would love a super up close picture of your halo and Fi.Z halo and then another shot from about nose level :appl:
This ring thing is starting to consume my life :errrr:

Sure here's one. And don't worry, its consuming your life, but in a fun way :wink2:

One isn't mine but its the same ring.

Thank you so much!!!

Well crap!! I thought I had two good ideas and they both were shot down. Here they are anyways, tell me your thoughts.
(sorry the first picture I do not know who it belongs to on here, but I saved it because of the taper)

The inspiration for my halo was Niel's beautiful Ritani. You can try and check out the Ritani website... they have some really lovely settings there too :)

I tried to take some closer shots of my ring for you this afternoon. I don't have a macro lens so close ups are really difficult! I think this is probably the best I can do with the tools that I have right now! I should ask for a macro lens for my birthday or something... :Up_to_something:

If you look closely, I have a very very subtle taper to my ring... the two side baguettes are actually tapered. The original design is with straight baguettes but I wanted a little taper... would have done with a little MORE taper actually as I think the tapered look with an Oval is very nice! However, if you want to stick with a more delicate dainty look to your setting, maybe a non-tapered shank is what you would go for.

I don't know if you like this at all, but I had this link/thread saved up because I loved the bella halo setting with all the ornate detailing. Of course, I would not have prong set, I would have my oval bezel set :) I think it would look nice with an oval. http://betterthandiamond.com/discussion/ubbthreads.php/topics/424127/The_original_Bella_Co_antique_

Oh, and yes, the melee in the halo are bead set ;)

The last pictured setting is really really lovely! I am not sure if it would look good with the halo though... maybe it would look too busy? I don't know... I like the pave on the split shank look, but combined with a halo.... It might look better with the oval on its own? That setting you pictured reminds me of these types of settings:

Oh, I just found the setting that I had in my mind to show you...finally found it. I really find it STUNNING. The one you pictured with the round and pear reminded me of it. It belongs to Neatfreak on PS. I hope she doesn't mind me showing it to you:

so, do you want a plain shank? or do you want some diamond? im not quite sure, just based off your inspirations.

also, did you decide if you wanted it to have a vintage flair or more modern?

I am pretty sure I want a plain shank e-ring. I do want diamonds on my wedding band. I think vintage is the way I am headed.

I do love this one, I've seen it before. Do you happen to know the designer?

Fi.Z

Thank you for the up close pictures, they are very helpful. I had no idea your halo was bead set, I really love it. I thought your ring had a slight taper to it. I really like the taper look because I have fat fingers so I think along with a thin band it would look nice.
I actually sent the pictures of the ring and the pictures of your halo to Quest to see what they thought of adding a halo to it. I am also not sure if it would to busy so I am hoping they will let me know what they think.
Your ring looks like you bought it with the halo, so I figured if they can do that great that maybe I have a chance, plus I started looking for other Quest rings on here and they do magic when it comes to turning a ring you like into one you love!! I already checked with the seller of the ring and it would have been a custom made head and basically I was told no they could/would not try adding a halo.

My other idea to is to see if Quest could make your halo for my diamond with a plain shank, maybe tapered if they think that would look nice. But I am not sure what the underneath of the halo would look like, I want something pretty yet sturdy.
I was also excited to see the original Bella, that is still in the back of my mind. Thanks for the link.

So now I am waiting on the responses to my questions I have emailed about. That will hopefully rule out something, so I can keep moving forward.

Thanks for all of your help. :wavey:

The designer is Steven Kirsch? You might be able to view the ring on his website.

What would they say about a split shank? Maybe an engraved or milgrained split shank with Fi.D's halo on top? It would be vintage and unique (could probably do it Twp tone WG and rg/ yg and the split shank would help with your concern about your finger size) I googled split shan oval and they look nice, I just find too many with the shanks going all the way to the end of the halo, I'd want them tucked toward the middle again

In terms of the underneath of the ring, you could try to search around for a ring with a basket style that you like and ask for the basket, with my halo and a plain tapered shank! Maybe Pete can suggest something. Maybe the Bela halo basket, with my halo facing up and the shank a polished no stone tapered look...? ;)

Thanks Niel for showing me Timeless Designs, this is what I found. I really like this first one, I love the taper to the shank, but I would like it without the diamonds.
I also really like the second picture, I like the split shank I like the engraving but I also think it would look nice with just being plain.
The only thing I question with these is the fact they sit so low on your finger, I like a little height, since my fingers are so chunky.

Is it possible to have a plain shank but still have the milgrain detail? I don't think I've ever seen one, but you ladies may have.

Thanks

You could have it sit higher on the finger by doing like, the bar underneath and then the split shank lifting up. Like this
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/pave-and-side-stones/piper-sholdt-14k-white-gold-5777w14

And I would think you could millgrain a plain shank. I imagine it like those plain wedding bands with mill graining

Perfect idea!! I just spoke to Timeless Designs, they are going to email pictures and she did say it could sit up higher, so yeah. :appl:
Now I just have to track down Perrysburg Ohio and Beachwood Ohio and go check them out, she can send samples of this ring. However, this will be a custom design with the changes I am wanting.
I asked my husband, he knows where Perrysburg is, so I went ahead broke the news that I am looking for yet another ring, it went well so yeah!!! :naughty:

This gives me an idea of the taper shank with the oval. However I am not sure of this halo??? The "fly" can be anything I want, I was thinking a pumpkin.
What does everyone think???

Oh wow I love that! The halo asit is now reminds me of the jbeg. It would be so much coverage! What color metal would it be??

But I also think replacing the halo with fi. z's it would be stunning too.

The cut out is cool. What about a fleur de lis. Didn't you want that on your ring originally?

I do think a pumpkin would be cute too!
