My Oval.

If I had some funds right now, I think I'd go to JBEG for the Bella halo for my oval. (i did not do that originally because I had to use my original jeweler for the oval upgrade... then I added the halo

I agree though, it is hard to imagine it with an oval and not sure what it would look like (or if it is even possible) with bezel set. I wonder if they could possibly draw it up for you or show you pictures....?? then show us?!! LOL!!!! For me, All of JBEg's stuff is just gorgeous, I would probably just send them my oval and say "make it a beautiful home!"...I would probably end up loving it no matter what! LOL!!

However, I really really think the Bella is just such a gorgeous design, with the thin shank and all the focus on the center stone and around the center stone. If only I would just happen to find 3K$ lying on the sidewalk! LOL !!!

The option are endless luvsdmb!!! We all admire all the wonderful pieces out there... but I think you might have to do some serious thinking alone, without us members, maybe consult your SO and make a decision that way. No matter what, your piece will be beautiful!! I think that is hwy there are some other members who have multiple 'erings'... because there really isn't just ONE design that we love... we love MANY!

Great idea Fi.Z. I just sent JbEG a quick email regarding the space between where the four single diamonds on the Bella and how that would look with a oval bezel, I am concerned that the space would look empty or like something was forgotten. So maybe they can help me picture it. I also asked them about the underneath with it being oval and asked if I wanted it without the diamonds on the bottom, which seems like it would not be a big deal.
On another note, I heard from Huan at Quest, he can do pretty much everything I am asking including the fleur de lis underneath on the carriage, which I think sounds great.
The one last thing is Timeless Designs is going to be sending me a few sample rings, so I think I have it narrowed down to these three rings.
I feel much better now, I might even stop looking.(doubt that)However I am questioning the plain shank with milgrain??? It might look better plain, or with engraving?

Fi.Z

Do you have to send your ring to Quest to have it checked? This is my only concern with having my ring made somewhere, once my diamond is set by someone other than where I bought it my warranty is no longer any good. I was told by the store where I bought it that they can set my diamond but can you imagine telling Quest this, hey custom make my ring but don't set the diamond. That's crazy.

Thanks

What is there warranty? Does it take away the upgrade policy? because they wont be be able to set it in a halo and have it still look good. I mean if the warranty doesnt have anything to do with an upgrade policy, just insure it and let it go i say

If it falls out of the setting it's in now or breaks, chips they will replace it. I have no idea about the warranty with an upgrade, my guess is upgrade has nothing to do with warranty. I just know lot's of places require rings to be checked every six months, which I would not like doing if I had to send it to another state every six months, forget that.

I wouldnt take that under consideration. Id just get my ring insured.

Wow, how beautiful it is!!

Saw this and thought of you. (With a plain shank of course)

That is pretty. Timeless Designs rings are on the way, I will take pictures. I am getting nervous and re-thinking the tapered shank.
I guess I'm re-thinking it because of how it would sit with a wedding band, and depending on the halo, I have seen oval rings with tapered shanks, that I don't like. Not to mention Chris at ERD does not like that look with ovals, and he of all people should know, so we'll see.

I'm on the phone so I cannot post the actual pic. But imagine this halo in the large pic at the top of the page with a plain shank and mill grained bezel  erd could make it awesome.

Niel, that's so pretty! You are so funny finding all these pretty rings for me. I love seeing everyone's ideas and thoughts.

Went to the mall today, dumb idea they are no help at all. A few are having remount shows in the next weeks but when I was there I just kept thinking of the Fi.Z halo.

How's it going with the five stone ring? Who is designing it for you?

His name is David klass. Its going well I'm about to pull the trigger on my side stones from BGD. I wish I could work with erd just because I like them but DK is really nice too and his price for my setting is rediculously reasonable!

Sorry I know I should stop posting things for you they just seem so "you" when I see the I just have to post it. I kind of hope you go with erd now. They do great work. Plus I just can't wait see see what style you decide.

As for your graduated shank. I guess if everyone who makes rings says its unflattering, then I guess that idea gets scrapped.

Niel:Ooo David Klass! I am looking forward to seeing your completed 5 stone! Did u start a thread?

Luvsdmb: Hmmm... it is true that there aren't many ring designs with a tapered plain milgrained shank... maybe there is a reason?? what about split? Or would you preferred tapered with engraving or some melee? I am REALLY looking forward to seeing what u decide. I just know it will be HOT! I am quite partial to ovals

Yep you are probably right, tapered with either engraving or melee. I just can not for the life of me picture a plain tapered shank with milgrain, especially because I don't care for the plain wedding bands with milgrain . Or I might forget about the tapered all together.

If you do end up choosing tapered with melee, it doesn't have to be round melee.... U have seen some nice french cut melee,or baguettes...don't know if you might find it a bit too blingy ...

Actually, I just did a search for such shanks and when I picture it with the bezel halo like mine, it just did not seem to go well together in m head. I think you may wanna stick with engraving with milgrain or round melee with milgrain if you go the tapered route. Itherwise, a plain polished straight shank could look really classy :P

Looking forward to seeing some semi mounts you may consider

Did u get any drawings or visual examples from JBeg?

I haven't heard back from JbEG.
This is one of the Timeless Designs that I should be seeing anytime now, I am planning on calling today and seeing if they are at the store yet. I really like this shank, I even like it with the diamonds. (The other night when I was about to fall asleep I thought I should have kept my round diamond and had it put in this ring. UGH!!! )
The second picture is also Timeless Designs but it was a custom made ring, I was informed if I want it they could also make me one :naughty:
(Quest can make my ring too, with the tapered engraved shank with milgrain, bezel set with milgrain and the Fi.Z halo and the fluer's underneath the halo.)
The thing holding me back is if I went with Timeless Designs I could deal local, (ring would be made in NY but the middle man is in our local mall) which sounds easy and good for future cleaning, checking, re-sizing etc. Timeless Designs is much more expensive, but they will custom make my ring.
At this point I think it will be between the two.

Oh, I like that one you just sent me. No I am not really into double halo's I just was looking at your three stone rejection ring  and happened to notice the taper of these two.
But I am really loving that one now, I like the underneath area. Not sure if I like the micropave though.

Have you had a chance to sort out how you are feeling about things regarding your ring ?

I'm the worst at making decisions for myself.

What do you mean you do t like the micro pave? Its the same type of halo ad fi.z. you'd just ask them to please do it as a plain shank :wink2:

From my understanding from Quest the FI.Z halo is traditional pave, not micro pave. But you are right, that ring with a plain shank would be awesome, I love the side view of it with that milgrain, it looks like it has a pearl necklace on. I still wonder if a plain shank with migrain would look pretty?

Back to you for a minute, what is your forever setting? (I think I missed that conversation)

This is really close to how I picture the ring I have in my head in real life. The way it tapers, the underneath where a cute fleur could be, the bezel set but with pave and of course adding all the milgrain.

i think you just need to pick a person to complete your vision and them show them a few inspiration pictures. They can create a CAD and then you can tweak the ring from there. it would be nice to have the cad that way because you have at least a complete compiled idea to work with, verses a bunch of just ideas in your head and in random pictures.

Yeah you are probably right, but I am not going to hurry this process. I'm almost scared to made a decision (I've been married two years in July and this is my second diamond and like my sixth e-ring) Not to mention my taste has already changed just from looking for a setting for my oval from prong to bezel. So I think I am pretty much safe and can't change to anything else. Although I am starting to love three stone rings  I think I have pretty much seen every inspiration piece there is out there so I can start really narrowing things down. I am going tomorrow to check out the Timeless Design rings. I think seeing rings in person will really help me out, and to be honest I have already considered making a trip to Virginia to Quest.
So send me some good vibes for tomorrow, and let's hope I just the see "the one" for me, no questions, no doubt's. :naughty: Is that even possible??

haha on this site, NO! haha

Good idea, if you have nice jewelers in your area, id see as many as you could. Id maybe even take a trip to tiffanys if you have one near you. Try on one of those classic oval thee stones!

because you know what would be cool (like you need more ideas!)

A three stone....with a millgrained bezel........

I've looked at those JbEG hundreds of times and never really saw this one you just posted, which I totally love. WTF have I been doing? Also we don't have to many options with rings around here, we do have a Tiffanys so maybe I will be daring and check them out.
(and yes I need more ideas, just because at this point why not)
I also just sent you a ring from JbEG on your CAD thread. :naughty:

now heres the reason i love THAT three stone.

1, finger coverage! a three stone will give you so much... i think a three stone halo would provide the MOST, but you seem not to love that idea, and i think this wold provide them next best

2. Bezel. You know how i feel about bezels in fancies ::)

3 the open basket. That little gap in the middle actually does wonders. I didnt think i would miss it in my ritani, but such a small feature made a noticeable difference. It kept my fingers from ever looking pudgy or "muffin top"y

4. It vintagey like you like

5 its got that plain shank, and you dont have to worry about what to do with the shank , because it looks good already.

6. Could easily throw in some mixed metal look if you wanted to

I am starting to understand the finger coverage stuff, my ring right now is a 9.5 so a ring that prevent's muffin top, HELLO sign me up!!!
When I took a risk and looked at a few rings at the mall the other day I tried on a teeny tiny tapered ring and I thought HOLY CRAP I need a big ass ring!!!! I do really love that oval bezel 5 stone I have posted on here, which must be the same as this three stone ring, I didn't realize it must be the "Michele". I am just not sure how I feel about a three stone ring in the long run?? (It makes me very nervous for some reason)

Im going to have to get a something between a 7.25 and a 7.5 because of the muffin top created by my wedding band, so i feel your pain!
Whats got you nervous, itll go out of style? youll get over it too fast?

Kinda yes, three stone rings really don't seem to go out of style and yes that I might be over it super fast and still wanting the Fi.Z halo.

I just emailed Grace and asked her about blending the Astin with the Michele OR if the Astin three stone could just be made with my center stone(does that make sense)
