I had already tried Tianyu moissanite loose, but recently decided to jump on the custom order band wagon with Tianyu! I always wanted an Art Deco piece with a sapphire halo, but between the cost of the ring mount, finding the right stone, and other pretties coming my way, it just never happened. With so many ladies here being happy with their Tianyu rings, I felt like it was now or never!
This ring was my initial inspiration:
After many emails back and forth, and a desperate attempt to describe milgrain, I received my CAD pictures.
I was apprehensive upon receiving them... I explained the milgrain was too chunky, and verified that we were on the same page regarding the stone cut- it’s not exactly easy to switch gems in a bezel setting. My rep was very nice, and assured me she would do everything possible to explain what I want to the jeweler. Since my money was already sent (via Paypal), I told them to proceed with making the ring. My expectations weren’t super high at that point.
While I was on vacation this week, my ring arrived. It was waiting when I got home, and though I wasn’t as stoked as the rush I got when starting the project, it was certainly the first piece of mail I opened.
Kudos to them for stepping up the packaging! While the box was a little cheap (the lid is loose), the bow was a nice touch and the effort was there!
Time to tear open the ring! I was pleasantly surprised; The moissanite was lovely, with qulity facets. The detail on the side of the ring and closed gallery were well excuted. The profile was nice and low like I prefer, and the ring is extremely comfortable to wear!
I’ll try to grab some more pictures tomorrow.
Overall, it was a good experience. I had a great rep who did an excellent job, considering the language barrier, of keeping me informed during the entire process. The ring was very reasonable in terms of cost, and I was covered by Paypal if things went really wrong. It’s better than I expected, although I can see a few spots that could have been done a little better- tidy up the bezel, there is a small area in the milgrain that looks a little crowded, and yes, I still think the milgrain could be finer!). That being said, I worth it was more than worth what I paid, and I will proudly sport it until something else catches my eye
