My unintended upgrade: 2.968 H VS2 ACA

Lol! Don’t sign up. I tried to get off the list for notifications but I don’t remember what password I used. Luckily I haven’t seen one diamond pop up yet that makes me want to take the leap! I seriously think this could be my forever diamond!
I am planning on setting my diamond soon so once it’s done I will post a new thread. The setting is ready but I don’t want to ship my diamond.

Is your stone currently in the Stuller crown setting? What does the new setting look like? I can't wait to see it! I'm trying to "prove" to my DH that this is my "long-term" stone. I'm really hesitant to use the word "forever". He thinks with the WF upgrade policy, I'll be swapping them in and out like I do my purses.

Problem being every time I upgrade DH has to listen to me talk about diamonds constantly, and is forced to give his "input". WF's diamond comparison tool allows you to watch those videos of spinning stones side by side. I like to load up a bunch in a row and make DH do a "blind taste test" of "which diamond looks the whitest" without showing him the specs. After the ring is completed, he's forced to "review" the photos. Does the stone look crooked in the setting? Do the prongs look aligned? Hours and hours of fun for him

I just realized I forgot to thank the WF team for making this upgrade possible!!! As a testament to the SUPERIOR WF customer service ...This was a stone that would sell VERY quickly. I was temporarily out of the country when I found the stone and knew it would be gone by the time I returned. It was 10pm xmas eve and obviously no one was in the office. I decided to try the online chat. To my surprise, Jennifer was actually manning the chat XMAS EVE! We chatted briefly and she helped put the stone on hold and left a note for Becca that I was upgrading. The day after xmas, the entire WF team was back, hard at work. Before noon that day, Becca had answered all my questions about the stone and prepared the invoice. Vera had the international shipping paperwork and instructions completed (my ring was shipped back to WF from Hong Kong!). I've never shipped anything internationally period, let alone something this valuable, so to say I was 'worried' is an understatement. Vera stayed on the phone with me and totally helped calm my nerves (I called her more than a few times!). All this to help me upgrade to a stone that I (and they) know can sell in a week!

Thank you for the article cflutist! I know about diamonds being cut for maximized carat weight, but had no idea vendors aren't even able to obtain rough that produces superideal stones just under the 'magic' carat weights! Awesome examples in the article too:

Now I know why you snatched up the 2.8 F VS1 so quickly!

In fact, very early on after coming here, I was trying to find a 1.4x stone to stay under 1.5. But I ended up at 1.6 for my first PS stone because I couldn't find a H&A stone in the 1.4 range at that time. Now we have many more to choose from, and WF really has gotten in a good many stones under the magic numbers lately!

They also did a great job on the head of your ring, and it's nice you were able to keep the shank of your original ring, too! I think this ring will be hard to beat. How nice to jump 2 color grades!

Thank you DS! Yes, I remember your quest for a just under 1.5 and a Tiffany knife edge setting and me thinking at the time that my ring would totally work for you! For my original e-ring, I suggested to DH to stay under 1.5 so I could have a higher color/clarity and had him contact WF (it was not a surprise engagement). The closest they had in the inventory was a 1.28 E VS2, Expert Selection, and not one of their near ACA ones. DH ended up purchasing a 1.41 G VS1 from Excel and set it in their Tiffany copy. Had I known I would only be keeping the stone for a short time, we would have gone with WF and the 1.28. Gosh, that was many years and many stones ago! I often wonder what I would be wearing today if I never found PS.

I absolutely adore the head that WF made (for the previous 3.2)! Which is why I was only willing to switch to a stone that this head could accommodate. I didn't want to risk it turning out differently the second time around!
