Ok, well a little background. When i was little, i was digging through some of my parents stuff and found two amazing gems. Well, long story short, those gems dissapeared into a saftey deposite box for 20 years. Well those stones have always been on my mind. I finally asked my parents about them last year, and a few months later, they found them. Well, having just bought a 2.35 ct pink sapphire, i was unready for the sheer size of these stones. Anyway, i''m going to have to get these identified and appraised, but I was wondering if any experts had a hunch.

Photo ID''s are to be taken with a huge grain of salt, but I always love to guess.

My guess would be a light aqua on the left, and a synthetic spinel on the right.

Interesting. A little info I forgot to mention... The stones were given to my grandparents about 50 to 60 years ago. Were synthetic spinels around that long ago? Also, I guess the stones were a gift from museum to a curator somewhere in asia...

Oh, yeah. Not visiable in the photo, the reflections in the blue gems are really more of a rich bluish violet. I do like the light aqua guess!

Hmmmm - Site Id''s

Left stone I''d sort of agree with Richard.... aqua, but it could also be topaz.

Right side dark blue stone..... could be several stones.... 1. natural saphirre or synthetic saphirre 2. If it get more violet at times could be color change saphirre or natural/ synth color change spinel. 3. Could also be Iolite 4. Low chance of it being Tanzanite but remotely possible.

Yes, synthetic spinel has been around since 1910.
