Hey!!
Haven''t seen you in a while. I was assuming you were probably at the Toronto Film Festival. How did it go? Much btter without the broken foot I bet.

Did you see that movie with Ali G... "Borat"? Was it funny?

What were your favorites?

If you find her, I''d like to say hello, too :-).

thanks for missing me and a big HOWDY to all of you!

yes, went to tiff beginning of september, got back and 3 days later FIL came for a 4 day visit. the day he left i started a spanish class [and its a TON of work], the next day we took our cat cebastian to the vet, 5 days later he was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer and started chemo the next day. its hard to believe at times that he''s really that sick. the vet gave him 6-8 weeks without chemo. we started the chemo. if he responds well....and thus far he has....he won''t be cured but will have a much longer life [compared to 6-8 weeks], and a quality life which is even more important. he has more tests this friday to determine the next step in chemo.

we saw 54 films in 10 days most of which were very very good. we think this was the best year for films for us since we''ve been going. we did have a few extra hours and dropped into a boutique fine jeweler in yorkville: Richard Booth. some very nice things! and at Birk''s there was the most gorgeous fire opal. Mine, you''d have loved it! so orange it looked unreal, domed cab type cut on the top, pavillion open and FACETED! i couldn''t believe it! i thought fire opal was too ''soft'' for such faceting but there it was. huge, orange, and $$$$$.

no, did not see BELA. but will keep an eye out for it. spoke briefly with Guillermo Del Toro [director: CRONOS, THE DEVIL''S BACKBONE, HELLBOY, and now PAN''S LABYRNITH] and who would have thought that ron perlman would be such a great dresser?!

need to get some sleep: just finished a one page paper for spanish class tomorrow [in spanish!] and i''m exhausted. we have another test tuesday. i''m not prepared at all and will spend the weekend studying!

ANyhoo nice to see ya around.

redo the math! the most we do is 7 a day......and one day we had only 4.

no, don''t get much sleep at all....that''s why i''m a ''movie zombie''!!!!!!

but its worth it. some of the films we see won''t get distribution and others it might be years. others even if they do get distribution, it may be limited and not play in our area.

my favorite movie was BIG BANG LOVE, JUVENILE A from takeshi miike.....on leaving the theatre i told my husband ''my god, i''ve become a fan!'' he is absolutely brilliant and this is one philosphical film. the ''my god'' is because he also does other genre films that are way way out there....ICCHI THE KILLER being one of them and certainly not a movie i''d recommend to anyone [read slash film]. his film THE GREAT HOKAI WAR is extremely bloody in the first minutes and then is absolutely a brilliant piece of work from there on out. he made that particular film in response to harry potter films and it is based on japanese spirit myth. loved it.
