All,

I saw a photo of a really cool ring recently, and unfortunately I didn''t save it so I don''t know what to search for to find something similar again. There were stones flush-set in the SIDE of the ring. Like you would see them if you were wearing it and looking at the profile rather than looking at the top.

Sorry if that doesn''t make sense, I don''t know how else to explain it. Does anyone know what this is called?

Would it be this one? Or were the diamonds set flat on the side of the ring shank?

I''m not sure Lorelei, but the way I inteprete it is that the diamonds are in the SIDE of the shank, like the men''s Damiani ring. (sorry for the wrong spelling, which made no sense). Sort of like this:

I love those bands. Not so much the whole copyrighting story behind ''em, but LOVE the bands!

Good pics C, I was wondering that too but I couldn't think of a ring here with diamonds set that way ( but there must be one somewhere around!!)

Yes, those men''s bands are along the lines of what I was thinking. I so wish I would have saved that link I saw earlier!

Do you mean the surprise diamonds, like in Scott Kay rings?

"Michael B Lace " has what it seems like what you''re describing.

is it this one!?!?

Michael B''s "lace" rings are just clustered-pave. Smithsmith posted above that he''s thinking of the diamonds on only the profile like the Damiani bands.

I wonder what Brad Pitt did with his ring?

do you mean this?

That ring is cool in concept and theory, but wouldn''t the pave get gunked up pretty easily? I mean, think of all the skin cells and soap residue that would get caught in there...blegh.

Not really. I''ve been putting it in the Ultrasonic once a week and it cleans it pretty well. It''s a very understated ring. Not showy but amazing quality. I love it

Elle, which ultrasonic cleaner do you have? And would you recommend it?

Elle,
I presume the melees have to be very small otherwise the band would be very thick and become uncomfortable to wear.

I have the Sharpetek CD-4800. I guess I would recommend it as it works great, but since it''s the only one I''ve owned,
I can''t compare it others.

Chrono- The ring is very thick but not uncomfortable. It has something like 36, maybe 38 stones for a total tcw of .76-78. Can''t remember the specifics right now.

I don''t see why it would be any different from 3-sided pave (or 2-sided, like you have)

I did not know that Brad Pitt designed jewelry.

Brad Pitt (I think along with Jennifer Aniston?) designed their wedding bands with Damiani. They had a legal agreement that the bands never be reproduced, which Damiani broke. I forget what the settlement was.

ooohh! Thanks for the link Musey!

So then you''re not looking for something like this where the stones are set into the shank?

SS is talking about literally the side/profile of the ring itself, as opposed to the side of the center stone.

elle, that has to be what she is talking about
very cool i must say, are they yours?

Hi Mike, thanks :)

The pic I posted shows the his version without the pave, and the her version with the one sided pave. The one sided pave is my wedding band.

Just checked and it''s 37 stones tcw .70. The ring weighs 13.5 pennyweights. It''s pretty heavy but comfy. The ring is also cold forged, not cast.

Don't know if you got your question answered yet, but here's one like you're describing. This PS'er had this one custom made...

That is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much!

All the other rings on this thread are pretty rad too though!

Edit: Actually that is very close but not quite - the one I saw was very much like that Brad Pitt one, but without the "gap" that appears to be held open by diamonds. They were just set flush into the ring without the gap.

Umm... you mean like the one elle_chris posted?

Except with spaces between each stone?
