What would you think a GIA certified Natural Emerald (Moderate Clarity enhanced) would be worth, with the following details:

7.38 cts - Pear Shaped
Transparancy: Transparent
dimensions: 15.75 x 11.20 x 8.77 mm
Cutting Style - Crown: Brilliant Cut
Cutting Style - Pavillion: Modified Briliant

The color is a spectaular fresh grass like green - it''s set in a pendant with 3 near-colorless round diamonds (1.25 cts).

EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!! (but fabulous!

Edited to add: Sorry, that wasn't much help, was it? You might check out www.cherrypicked.com or www.twin-diamonds.com for some comparison pricing.

A fine quality emerald of that size is quite rare, and would be very costly...

Actually, Cherrypicked might be a bad choice because almost all their emeralds are certified untreated, which makes their prices off the chart...

Here''s a high quality Colombian 8ct emerald from TwinDiamonds that goes for about $3300/ct:

BTW...welcome to PS!

Thanks for the info! Love the site!

I just saw the most incredible emerald I had ever seen. Arthur Groome & Co is recutting it on Monday. The Wallstreet Journal will be there covering a story on it when it is recut. It is now 16.8cts, unenhanced and the purest chrome green I have ever seen. It is from Muzo, Columbia. It is being recut to make it perfectly eye clean. It is estimated to be a 14ct stone when finished and someone is flying in from Paris to look at it. Price $1.4 Million. I''ll post pictures later when I get the before and after.

Regards,
Maurice

Hi Maurice- Here are a couple of my emeralds that I set for my wife. I dont know why green is so hard to photograph. Both stones are nice medium green Colombians. The pear is a 2.54ct. with heart shaped diamonds(set sideways) in platinum. The other is .75ct with 3.5ct. diamonds in 18k. I also have a marquise shape with an odd neon glow.

Another try-

My favorite are the fine brazilian emeralds.

Anyway - when you say "CLARITY ENHANCED"... how so?

Are you talking about some imperfections were drilled out of it? Is it oiled?

Find out.

For my tastes, an emerald has to be at least $5-10k/carat in the size range your talking about (but that''s just me).

The color is a spectacular fresh grass like green ...

I don''t know what that bit means! And mysteriously, the lighter green doesn''t seem to be priced as highly as the dark despite the obvious beauty. I don''t know what your emerald looks like, of course - only the myriad greens in the young grass

I like the sound of ''minor clarity enhancement'' - but does the stone look clean? If so, it would be nice in my book even if the color is quite a bit down the road between emerald and green beryl - the stones are just beautiful whatever they may be called.

Without knowing what it looks like, I can''t imagine what it might or should cost - anywhere from hundreds to thousands per carat.

Ideally, the description of the gem would tell me exactly what it looks like, but this time.... the extent of enhancement has little to do to how successful it is (considering the usual fracture filling of emerald and nothing else, not every inclusion in emerald is a fracture that can be filled!) and while the size would be large for the finest emerald quality, lighter stones can be quite large and clean at once.

Not sure if this helps

Hi All - I did send the emerald pendent to an independent appraiser for further info. The stone is exceptionally clean looking, and it''s not a light green at all, but a very vibrant deep bright green that absolutely sparkles, but its not an overly dark green...I realize that is a terrible description, but the stone is absolutely stunning to look at.

thanks for all of your suggestions....I was able to find a great appraiser from this site.

Wow, Pam...I didn''t realize you actually had it in your possession! Shame on you for not posting pictures! (just kidding

Please do post pictures when you get it back from the appraiser, and do tell us what he says about it!

It sure sounds fabulous!

Widget thanks for showing this intense green emerald. It is gorgeous.

Hello everyone - just wanted to pass along the great experience I had using Sarasota Gemological Labs (Richard Sherwood) to appraise my emerald pendant. I am extremely pleased that I went thru Rich for my appraisal. Not only was he prompt, but he kept in contact with me when he received the emerald, he let me know his initial thoughts on the gem, notified me when he was finished to give me some feedback and more explanation on my emerald, and most importantly, I received an EXTREMELY comprehensive report! Unlike the GIA which just tells you if your stone is real, Rich''s report details the origin of the stone, ranks the quality, cut, clarity, hue, etc., etc. I would HIGHLY recommend Rich!!!

He did indeed verify that the emerald is conclusively Columbian and is in the Good/Fine category of "6". I feel confident that I have a great pendant!

If anyone is looking for a fantastic appraiser - I would highly recommend Sarasota Gemological Labs and Rich Sherwood! --Pam

Pam gave me the okay to post her pictures, but I''m going to need Ana''s help.

The pictures need to be downsized to 100kb or less (they''re 300-350kb), and I don''t know how to do it. If I email them to you, can you do it for me Ana?

My email address is "sarasotagemlab @ hotmail.com".

Thanks!
