Im still on the lookout for a nice stone for an engagement ring and have narrowed down to these:

option 1:
f vs2 gia triple xxx table 57 depth 60.1 crown angle 33.5 crown height 14.0% pavilion angle 40.8 pavilion depth 43.0% hca scores 0.8 and quadruple excellent (first time i seen that). cheapest option also!

option 2:
f vs2 gia triple xxx table 56 depth 61.6 crown angle 35.5 crown height 16.0% pavilion angle 40.6 pavilion depth 42.5% hca scores 1.3. slightly more expensive

option 3:
e vs2 gia triple xxx table 56 depth 61.5 crown angle 34.5 crown height 15.0% pavilion angle 40.8 pavilion depth 43.0% hca scores 1.3
even more expensive

option 4:
f vs2 gia triple xxx table 56 depth 61.9 crown angle 36 crown height 16.0% pavilion angle 40.6 pavilion depth 42.5% hca scores 1.7 but this has very good hearts and arrows... even more expensive.

Im not sure what to get. please help

there are no aset images and or other images apart from the last one which shows very good hearts and arrows. the price difference between cheapest and most expensive is about £300

With no other info - I like the proportions on option 3 the best.

ok.. can you tell me why it is better than the first stone?

Can you get an idealscope image? You really should.

i can not get ideal scope images. The jeweler only has a hearts and arrows scope

OK. Well, the vendor choice is up to you. And if you feel comfortable spending thousands without an IS image, then that's up to you too!

:wavey:

i had a look at the ags website and found this chart http://agslab.com/docs/pbcg/AGSLProportionCharts.pdf

Looking at the first diamond it is an ags 0 ideal candidate. The store has a 30 day return policy so what I will do is buy the diamond and try and get idealscope image from elsewhere. I think that will be the best option for me. Because of its low depth it has a much larger face then the other options which is good right?!

Thanks for your help

Those charts correspond to the more lenient AGS 2D "Gold" proportions system. That's a system designed to mimic the GIA approach; using averaged 2D proportions to assign a predictive grade that's easier and not diamond-specific. Also, like GIA, that system permits polish and symmetry to be less than 'Ideal' and still earn the overall '"Gold" Ideal grade.

Per the AGS cut guidelines for the "Platinum" performance system that's considered a high standard here, 57 40.8 33.5 is predicted as AGS 1 in performance. That's not bad of course, but it's below the minimum threshold for 0.

More significantly, the HCA and chart-lookups are not decisive. With the averaging and rounding done by GIA we don't know the precise T-C-P information for these diamonds. The actual numbers for diamond #1 could swing it towards AGS 0 or as low as AGS 3, depending on specifics. There are also details of minor facets, variance from average angles and degree of 3D cut-precision to consider. All of those things are accounted-for in the AGS analysis, and critical to earning the 0 benchmark, but are unknown here.

I'd pass on #1. ...if I were to gamble I'd go with #4.. ;))

URGENT

Light return looks good. It will be a bright diamond. Unable to make determinations about finer details due to angle of phone-photo, and there may be a bit of tilt to the diamond in the supplier's photos. But generally very nice images.

thank you john for the reassurance! this is the first diamond which is the cheapest. I think I will definitely reserve it as looking at the first pic it looks ideal.. I was not sure about the 2nd picture tho as it has green scattered

I have now bought this diamond... It will take a few days to come and I can not wait to see it!

For a large spread I thought it may be shallow but images show it is ideal! It also has very good hearts and arrows and for the price I can not get this spec for this price. This is my first time purchasing a diamond and I am glad I had come to this site when a jeweler was giving me a deep diamond. Now I will get something bigger and ideal spec for less than what I was going to give to the jeweler! I had no clue about diamonds but now I've done so much research and become an expert (amongst my friends lol)
