Here is the deal. Looking for opinions and thoughts and other ideas that I may not have thought of. Anything you can offer is much appreciated.

We have found the setting (Jared). She loves the setting so that is the one I want to get for her...

Moving onto the diamond.....

I have two choices from two different vendors.

First choice is from Jared's. It is a 1.19 GIA G VS2. I have attached the certification. I was quoted $10,500 plus tax, etc.

Second choice is from WhiteFlash. It is a 1.233 AGS G VS 2. I have put the link below to the certification and site. I was quoted $11,800 (no tax).

Any benefits of getting the setting and stone at the same place? I think the value of the AGS stone is worth it but I wanted to get everyone's input.

Anything you can do or tips you can give would be helpful!

Thanks!

Anybody?

Hi :appl:

You can't go wrong with ACA! They are top of the line h&a diamonds. As long as the diamond of your pick is eye lean to your standards you have made a great choice. Yes, there is absolutely benefit in having the setting and diamond done through one vendor such as whiteflash. Whiteflash would take responsibility in replacing the diamond if it was chipped during the setting process, as would other vendors recommended on PS. Also, you know your setting will be a perfect fit for your diamond and do not have to worry about shipping it to another vendor to get set. I always worry about my diamonds in transit and would hate for something to go wrong with setting it if someone else were doing the setting. So if you can find a setting through whiteflash and have them set your ACA your great to go! Good luck!

The Jared's diamond is not good. It will almost definitely have leakage, even if perfectly cut.

The WhiteFlash diamond is perfect.

Interesting... Then that answers that question...

Comparing the AGS H & A to the GIA is not a fair comparison then?

It's not about GIA vs AGS. There is nothing about a GIA Ex grade that makes a diamond inherently worse than a diamond w/ AGS 0. You have look at the proportions first.

The GIA diamond is a steep deep. The WF diamond is proportioned showing true hearts and arrows.

I'll second that opinion. The GIA "excellent" rating captures a wider range of proportions than AGS0 (ideal). The GIA stone is overpriced and too steep to boot. The Whiteflash is a better stone and a better deal as well.
